If asked I would say the first band I saw was Led Zepplin at Oxford New Theatre C1971/1972. The truth is the first band I actually saw was the Falling Leaves, more by accident not by design and they were good. Each year the Pressed Steel Company (later part of British Leyland) had a treat for employees children each year c1964/1965 we went to the ABC Regal in the Cowley Road and we got a goodie bag, two films think they were Dambusters and Reach for the Sky and THE FALLING LEAVES.
Hahahaha, I took over from Will on lead guitar with this band.... Rod Crisp is still singing and had his own Blues Band... he has a variety if 'stuff' on youtube under his name and band names. Great find... they were a great band... I agree this song was not typical of the blues style they usually played... 'St james Infirmary Blues' comes to mind and I believe they released a cover of it.
Hi All, Just come across this posting and may have something interesting to say. I was the keyboard player with the Falling leaves and played on this single. I am still in touch with the three other original members. This song was written purely for the Ready Steady Win show and was not totally representative of the more "bluesy" style we played. Sorry, Beggars Parade was not us but a band that stole our name as we were coming to the end of the bands life. Neil R.
@Ennessar6 Hello Neil, thanks for the info,it's great to hear you are all still in touch.I must admit I have long doubted the connection between yourselves and Beggars Parade, the history books need to be re-written.You should be proud of this single however,it now changes hands for in excess of £60 in mint condition.
