  • question

do you ever add sacrificial material to the end of your roll up..

so when you jack the end shut ..you don't loose so much of your pattern .

  • @chena3 sometimes he adds a strip of clear on one side, then rolls the collar on there. He doesn't worry too much about cutting excess off as its only a little piece if done right. I can ask him for you though

  • @chena3 response from the man himself:

Yes. Just before necking the end, I often have my assistant bring me a bit that's applied to the opening. I'll neck down on the bit, closing the rollup. This way much less of the pattern is then cut onto the floor. I didn't use this approach in this instance since the pickup was really big and a bit would add time to the demo and I wanted it all to move quickly.

  • btw the ninja tags are killer

  • murrini man has big plate and big budget

  • That was awesome to watch that creation. Now, for us who love the glass-making art, but have no idea how it works..... can you explain what the finished work is, what were the objects IN the glass, and what would a piece like that sell for?

  • the objects in the glass were glass tiles. There's several ways to make them. One is to put powder or chips of glass onto clear and pull it like taffy, another is to fuse sheet glass into bricks and pull the resulting brick when molten. then you cut the tiles up and work it as shown. what Mr. Patchen does is pretty advanced, i've done a couple smaller ones, but i am more into cane at this point (striped glass) .

  • no you got it. its all about the camera angle. and then filtering out superfluous footage. usually any music works. you got the hard part. all i do is add long dissolve transitions. it give my videos a softer feel. if you wanna get good at editing try to time up the quick cuts of a video with the drum beat of a song. thats when videos pick up some energy. thanks for checkin out my stuff. peace connor

  • hahah thanks! it was actually my mom who was filming. i tried not having too much excess stuff in there. yea i really like the long transitions. except they make the video slightly difficult to follow but they make the video, as you said, smooth. hmm... video and music beats together... i sorta tried that but that takes too much time. heh

  • great video

  • i don't have quite your video editing skills but thanks anyway!
