nothing in that video really inpressed me, i think i could of done each of these, it was just jumping over things using your hands, jumping a few gaps, but none to crazy, im sure those guys were capable of tricking too why don't they add that in too?
you know why they dont trick. because there better then that. htey dont make up for there parkour with flips. these guys are awesome. just cause you can do a flip doesnt make you good
making your body to rotations is much harder then jumping over something with your hands, parkour and free running are much cooler when the people can at least do a few flips mixed with their thing, and i know im much better
Just don't get it do ya buds. They don't throw flips into any of this because they don't need to. They train parkour, not free-running or tricking. It doesn't matter about being "cool". If your so self concious about people thinking your cool go ahead, do flips. But think of a real world situation where you can use that? Do you watch ufc vids and post that it would be cool if they throw a flip in there? I doubt it. Why? Cause its USELESS! Parkour is a self defense, not a spectacle. Think!
no i was not saying it makes the person more cool when they do parkour and free running im saying people who watch parkour or free running vids would find it much cooler to watch and enjoy if theyre were a few flips in the free running, if you showed random people on the street comparing 2 equal versions, PK & FR with flips vs none flips, with flips would get more wow effect and respect from people and how many trikrs actually use not enough room for rest of it not worth it
You don't get it... Parkour is not about showing off, its a self defense. If your running for your life your not thinking about how "cool" you look. Your comparing 2 different things... PK isn't striving for shock and awe from people watching, its about bettering yourself to be abel to react in a dangerous situation.
if you track its roots all the way back it was invented by a french soldier in vietnam during the war. Later on he returned and parkour was officially reborn
you dipshit you just don't get it FLIPS ARE NOT PARKOUR. K so think of it this way you're running from a guy with a machete, are you going to stop and do a flip when you can save a precious few seconds by just jumping over something?
FLIPS ARE F***ING USELESS. ALL IT DOES IS ATTRACT ATTENTION AND LOOK IMPRESSIVE.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i know flips are not parkour, thats why they have the words gymnastics or tumbling, and attacting attention and looking impressiveisnt a bad thing, and most people that are athletic enough to trick are athletic enough to run jump gaps climg walls, and yeah, and its not like your actually ever going to chased and have to actually use this skill, if you ever do, its because you decided to
Same goes for fighting. Why do you think people learn martial arts or boxing? It's not like they're ever going to use it, right?
Probably for the most part. However, since it's evident that you've never even tried real parkour, you can't say that it's not fun. It gets you up and running and fit.
And it's really peaceful to know that if you get in a fight, you either have the option to run on fight.
your right, i set a log on fire w/ gas lol outside of a store by my house and used parkour to climb the building and hide from cops, its not like im gonna flip away like a fucking panzie
I like the message. I'm curious to know how people feel about parkour appearing in major motion pictures in general, or even independent action films?
The reason i disagree with the team remark, and only the remark about teams is because i believe training with a team helps you learn.
You learn things from the people around you, especially if they are at a higher level than you or perhaps familiar with a technique that you are not. it's also more fun and a lot safer to be with friends when you train.
thats why there are communities.. teams promote competition, which is what parkour is against. when you have teams rather than communities it also makes it seem exclusive.
i am seeing them show-off...they are claiming to parody groups but they are the very thing they pretend to hate. and no moron, i am not confusing their parody with being a group like the one they are parodying versus just making fun of such groups as you foolishly think.
by doing their own training montage they go against everything they say in the description. they tear down everyone else but claim they are the TRUE parkour practitioners?? gimme a break. it is hilarious how they try to make it sound legit by filming it at SFU. idiots.
no moron. That is why they did the first one called Team Smooth Vancouver. Why do they keep making videos? I guess you stupidly had the wool pulled over your eyes. Well the best revenege is knowing that you are a completely gullible fool. hey, can you send me $500 to place a bet. It is a sure thing...I will win $2000 and send you half. Trust me. hahaha.

nice video, but about the video from "parkour teams" i think, i hope that most of traceur who film themselves makes video for having counsil and other constructive critics, not just for felling big or for business..but sure there is someone who wants to earn by parkour image..(sorry for my ugly english!XP)
you guys have really good technique in everything you do. the only thing i can suggest is to take off with split feet for cat pass/kong/sat de chat. a split foot take off makes it easier to continue motion but on concrete, a double foot take off slightly destroys your momentum. try to learn it with both feet in front too, so that when you're running, it doens't matter which foot is in front when you take off and it will be very smooth still. keep up the good work team smooth! :D
shonenbatman411 , it is better not to just copy movement in parkour, but to try and understand the movement. if you don't have a guide in parkour, you will have to watch other videos of skilled tracuers and try to understand why they do things the way they do. you will learn to do parkour quicker if you know what you're trying to do and why, rather than just copying.
LOL I'm not sure if you're trying to say that the "guy in the background" is just some random person, but he's one of the guys in the video, just to be clear.
