@TheFirework12 Flash is loud but put it up against a 1/4 in piece of steel and absolutely nothing will happen, hell you can put 5kg of flash on something metal and it won't do anything to the metal, when you put a high explosive such as nitro on it, a small amount, I used 20mL in dynamite, will bend the shit out of the metal, and if you use more it will split the steel.

NG isn't actually that powerful on it's own though. Can't say I'm a fan of it.

My goal is to detonate anfo or tannerite with a homemade blasting cap containing either NG or AP, so obviously Im trying to be as safe as possible.
And Im guessing a half gram of good quality flash powder would detonate NG, then tannerite or anfo.... does that sound feasible to you?
@freedomismoneyusa Good flash powder, like the one you are using in your videos, should be fine to detonate NG. In fact, I've heard that in the early days they used black powder.
Seems like you're going to make an explosives 'train' which is good. If I were you, I'd make a HMTD (or something similar) cap that ignites a booster made out of ETN which would detonate the ANFO. If you can make NG, you can make ETN, which is a solid, and therefore easier to handle.
@AustralianPyromaniac If you don't leave the ap mixture in the refrigerator for 24 hrs you wouldn't have that problem, i use 20mL 35% H2O2, 10 mL 100% acetone and 6mL 31.5% hydrochloric acid, i put it in the refrigerator for 2HRS NO LONGER. the longer it's in the acid the more sensitive, my ap is far less sensitive than nitro, you have to whack the living shit out of it with a hammer to get it to detonate.
I'd love to see what 40ml of astrolite G would look like ignited, make a video of it! If you actually can get the ingrediants, and I know hydrazine rocket fuel is hard to come by, unless you have connetions, then fuck yeah, I've always wanted to see what kind of damage this high explosive can do. :]

Nitroglycerin is produced through nitryifing glycerin (an alcohol), using nitric acid. To obtain a purer result (with less water) sulfuric acid is used, which absorbs water. However, the reaction is exothermic, and produces a flammable and posionous gas, Nitrogen Oxide. Discouraging knowing the facts, isn't it?

You don't need anhydrous nitric acid for RDX synth :) There is more than one way to skin a HE cat. Hexamine is getting tough to find, in some places. I hear something about it being used to make methylamine... If I remember correctly, it can be made from formaldehyde and ammonia, but I dunno after I messed up the formula for astrolite! lol

yeah yeah. All those 'special' mixtures. Astrolite is essentially ammonium nitrate and nitromethane. It doesn't keep, and it's over rated. You want fireworks? Stick with RDX/Cyclonite. Hexamine, nitrated with nitric acid. No H2SO4 needed.
My advice: Stay away from the stuff. All of it. All it takes is one 'oops' and your life can really suck; at least what is left of your life.
Astrolite is ammonium nitrate and hydrazine, ammonium nitrate and nitromethane is kinepak or ANNM. Also, RDX manufacture is FAR more complex than just hexamine+nitric and sulfuric acid is far easier to obtain than the anhydrous white nitric needed for a decent RDX synth.

It was low speed detonation (in slow motion the flame should not appear), . I use 0.2grams of lead azide (probably about 1 gram of TCAP would be enough)
The flame is just some gases created by the detonation that react with each other after the detonation. Lots of explosives create such a flash, regardless of low order or high order detonation.

The function of the capacitor is to provide a time delay, not to provide current surge for the cap. The igniter in the blasting cap doesn't need a strong current, so it can be ignited with 2 AAA batteries.
The thyristor I used was a TIC106M. Send me a message with your email and I'll send you the schematic. It's not the most efficient timer, it was quickly improvised.
I have found that pure NG is insensitive enough to be used on it's own. It needs a decent whack with a hammer on a steel plate before it detonates. Of course you have to handle it with care.
When the device is activated, a capacitor is charged via a resistor. When the voltage over the capacitor reaches a certain value, the thyristor switches and connects the battery to the detonator. If a potentiometer is used instead of the resistor, the time delay is adjustable.
Imagine a liter of that Nitroglycerin!

It was low speed detonation (in slow motion the flame should not appear), . I use 0.2grams of lead azide (probably about 1 gram of TCAP would be enough)

The flame is just some gases created by the detonation that react with each other after the detonation. Lots of explosives create such a flash, regardless of low order or high order detonation.

What thyristor did you use? Couldn't you ignite the cap by the electric pulse of the capacitor?

The function of the capacitor is to provide a time delay, not to provide current surge for the cap. The igniter in the blasting cap doesn't need a strong current, so it can be ignited with 2 AAA batteries.
The thyristor I used was a TIC106M. Send me a message with your email and I'll send you the schematic. It's not the most efficient timer, it was quickly improvised.

I have found that pure NG is insensitive enough to be used on it's own. It needs a decent whack with a hammer on a steel plate before it detonates. Of course you have to handle it with care.

When the device is activated, a capacitor is charged via a resistor. When the voltage over the capacitor reaches a certain value, the thyristor switches and connects the battery to the detonator. If a potentiometer is used instead of the resistor, the time delay is adjustable.
