Did not know they used a Bose back then. Is AC Delco Speakers bose? Also i am still trying to find a Iroc z with the special sound system control panel.
@josh1303 Bose was a special option but GM has offered Bose in a lot of cars over the years. The sound system control panel you described sounds a lot like the stereo in a Berlinetta. Do a search for Berlinetta Radio and there are a couple of vids. If that's what you are looking for, they are hard to find these days!
I know this guy "firefighter880" wrote that like a year ago but still, how the hell do come on here talking straight shit out of your ass and calling other people morons... I understand u could make a mistake but the way u came on thinking you knew your shit was just....!@#@$%^&*()*....
5.7 optional for 1987 and on--
there were 50 5.7's made for 86 but for gm testing - not production..
"the only 10 5.7 irocs made before 1990" comment was sooo funny.. lmao
@magicluis145 I have swapped to a Megasquirt since this video was made. To do the 7730 swap you need a map sensor, 7730 ecm, TPI calmap (eprom/chip) and the plugs that fit in the 7730. The rest is just moving wires from the old plugs to the 7730 and adding the map sensor wires. Here is a site with lots of info on the swap: eecis.udel (.edu) /~davis/z28/ecm_swap_730 [You'll have to edit that URL to remove the parentheses and spaces]
wow I thought i got my IROC for a steal (cali car 87 red IROC 305 t top cammed headers and flow masters 2500$)
but now im planing to do a new red paint job (clear coat peeling) and 8 inch woofers where the 6x9s are rewiring all speakers with 16g wire or bazoka subs tint the windows and iroc 20s next year lt1 swap i will do vids when i start my plans oh and putting in a remote start
@IBLG Thank you.. I usually end up with the bad deals but I did really well on this car. It made up for all the bad ones (a recent Jeep Cherokee 4x4 comes to mind as a big mistake) I've bought! I'm in the process of painting this Iroc now. Hope it turns out nice.
Brings back good memories.....Irocs were king back in the day with 5.0 Mustangs being our arch enemy lol. (they still rock) My little 305 Z28 couldnt keep up haha..had to get a 350. Man we had fun racing back then! Good video man, I hope you still have it.
Nice looking IROC! my IROC sat for an good 10+ years like your's, sadily alot of it was out side but now the car runs pretty good and looks great. Lucky you for having an stock 350, Im going probaly end up doing an 355 HSR swap for my camaro someday, would ultimaly like an 406 though... Good luck on your camaro though!
@RiceKiller1986IROC Thanks.. it will be fast eventually.. it's a second faster now than in this video, but I won't stop till it's running mid 6's in the 1/8 and then I'll be content :-)
The 97 firebird looks like someone took a shit and put wheels on it. It was so fast it blew up? haha good, it can sit in the junkyard where it belongs.
What a dumbass. The first year of camaro to get the TPI 350 was 1986, there were 50 produced, however they were not released to the public. 1987 was the first year the public could order the TPI 350 motor. I would love for you to try and prove these facts wrong. You should learn what the hell your talking about before you insult other people, moron.
First off you need to do some research before you go calling people morons. First off the T.P.I was first intoduced into the car in 1985, in that year the only avalible size forthe T.P.I was a 305 same goes for the 86 model year. Then in 1987 GM gave the camaro and firebird the 350 T.P.I option. Then in 1991 They went with no maf engine and changed to speed density (It could of been 1990 but i dont remember right now)
@outcastMETALchild89 For the third Gen Camaros and Birds, Speed Density had more aftermarket modifications. For the mustang it was the other way around. The MAf system in the camaro was too new and had a lot of problems.
@firefighter880 Wow who is really the Moron here. You are dumber than a box of rocks. Google before you write stuff. These engines came out in late 1986. I have an 89 350 tard monkey. Sheez.
hey first of all nice n cool vid. love the car, if it was in that good of condition when you got what a great deal.... anyway im looking at buying my own first car that is the same 1987 but idk bout z28 or any of that.. the guy has a 385 chevy crate motor in it and it hasnt been run in over 2 years could you tell me some things you did to yours like did you have to change the seals and all that help me out please thanks man, skate
Two years isn't bad but you never know what seals will do after sitting. In my case, after sititng 12 years and then driving it about 4000 miles in the past year, the following leaks have occured: AC compressor, speedometer gear housing seal, transmission output shaft seal and the 9 bolt pinion seal is starting to leak a bit. Also both front brake lines collapsed pretty early on. No problems on engine oil, except for a minor leak you'd expect at 140k.
Actually put a turbo on it and witness the true meaning of hell on wheels. You buy a camaro cause you're not some dipshit trying to pretend he wants to save money on gas while he's dumping any income he makes from selling pot to his lame as friends and working 35 hours and some shit factory for the minimum wage (cause he couldn't be bothered to go to school or get a trade after he dropped out lol) into his economy purposed 4 cylinder. However, american muscle with turbos transcends god status
i got a 1987 iroc too....ur rear end prolly has a 3.27 gear ratio.....u might wanna replace that if it does i changed it from 3.27 to 3.73 and wnt from 9.70 on 1/8th to 8.90 just by doing that and putting headers and 2 1/2 flowmaster super 40's
If you're talking about a third gen, the fans generally will not come on until 230 degrees unless the AC is on. Many people think they're overheating because of this.
@mansx420 Don't know if you are still having overheating problems, but I got my fans hooked up to a switch down by the clutch so they're running all the time and it dosn't seem to have any problems. I used to have overheating problems as well. Overheated when they were testing my emissions for state inspection. It really sucks and its kinda embarasing lol.
how i have a 87 IROC-Z and i need to get the fuel lines cleaned, fuel injector cleaned and the gas tank drained how much do u think it will be thx im in oregon
hey i would keep it stock it will be worth more in the future maybe get another one then do wht u wnt with it.
I always have to fumble with it to figure it out. If I remember correctly, with the radio off and the ignition on, press SET and then SCAN sets the hour and SEEK sets the minutes.
Hell of a deal, how many miles did it have on it? I thought I got a good deal when I got a nearly mint 84 vette from my bank as a bank repo, no where nearly as good as you did on that Iroc and the perfect color as well same color as the Vette.
Just over 130k miles when I got it, but I've added about 3k to it in the past 8 months. I never thought I'd want a black car (it does show dust easier) but I really love it.
wow 700$ wow god sent this car from heavan for you!
