@kalindoscopy Yes he was Maltese. He was born in Hamrun in 1923 and died in Malta in 1998.

@TheKickasses there was another maltese star Joseph Calleja who starred in almost 60 hollywood movies... and helped oreste in his breif career as a star himself, Oreste had to end his career prematurely because of heart problems.

This is certainly beautiful and rather operatic,  in the best possible sense. It serves as a good reminder of just how enjoyable the singing of this fine artist could be, and was.
