  • HELP, when i load up MPK mini editor, the drop down list wont give me the option of selecting the mpk mini keyboard !! please please help! so frustrating!

  • i'm completely new to the midi/producing world and have Reason 5, is there an idiots guide to setting up the mini with reason?

  • @MrAli5519 I am sure there is!

  • @dome3232 It works with all VSTs!

  • @Sphereal Does the Mpk mini also works with vst's like ReFx Nexus, Sylenth 1, Hydra, Junglist, EKS-9 and so on???Please answer as soon as possible because when it did i would buy it...

  • Why wont program change work on my mpk mini, all it does is swich which channel im on, im using fl studio 10 by the way

  • @Arsnk1 You need to press programm change along with one of the keys on the right of the mpk mini. If you take a close look to the black plate above the keyboard, there are some things inscribed in red. At the end you´ll see the numbers "1 2 3 4". Press programm change and 2 together to load the programm 2 and so on.

    Good luck.

  • @Sphereal thanks for the help but the 4 program keys do nothing, the only thing that does anything when i use pc is my pads and they swich witch channel im on. maybe im misunderstanding something but in your video and the others that ive seen it sounds like i should be able to swich between the 4 presets on the mpk mini but mine do nothing, do you think i got a bunk pne and shpuld take it back? i got a 60 day warantee on it

  • @Sphereal haha trial and error i solved my own problem but now i have another, how do i set 1 instrument to the keys and one to the pads lol its prolly real simple i just cant figure it out, i know theres different channels you can set but when i mess with them iether the keays or the pads dnt work

  • @Arsnk1 Trial and error is probably the best way to get to know your way around the mpk mini or any other piece of gear.

As stated on this video, you set one instrument to receive midi messages on one specific channel and you set another instrument to receive midi messages on other channel. Example: Piano sound on midi channel one, drums on midi channel 2. Set the keys to send on midi channel 1 and the pads on midi channel 2. Then select both instruments on your daw and play.

  • Hey yo anybody out there know why when i press pc and then one of the four program keys it dosnt swich the global setting of my mpk mini, its brand new i didnt drop it ir anything,]

  • whats that second program? dis that included with the keyboard because when i try and play on my keyboard while its plugged in to the first software nothing happen i dont kno what i need to do ....plz help

  • @KiDTR0N It is FL studio. It´s a DAW and it hosts Vst plugins, which generate sound. The first programm is just a configuration enviroment and it doesn´t produce sound on its own.

  • @Sphereal I don't suppose you know how to get just drums on the pads while using notes on the keyboard do you mate? and also how do you get the knobs to work because they don't do a thing for me? Cheers.

  • @HaydnNeville1991 I actually believe I mentioned on this video that you can actually let pads and keys send messages on independant midi channels. By doing so, you are allowing yourself to play drums with the pads and any given instrument by hitting the keys.

The knobs must be assigned to a parameter on your DAW or on a synth. Try using the midi learn functions of each DAW.

  • @Sphereal Any chance you could run me through how to do it? I'm a beginner so I don't know much at all lol

  • @HaydnNeville1991 You should really watch the WHOLE video

Si no, puedes escribir tus preguntas.

  • hey i just NEED you to explain me some things. first: what does the prog change button does when open?is it like when pressing the program button? second: i wanna use the arpeggiator to loop a melody i play on the keyboard....is it able to do? and how? cause when the arp is on and sustain too they play only the first note i press. help please

  • @tsiougos The MPK can´t loop arps...it can only sustain a played chord.

  • u save my life :) thx so much

  • @paranoydism My pleasure, man.

  • still cant fl studio to recognize my mpk mini... i plugged it in and always hear the sound windows makes when you plug a usb in and when i open fl studio and rescan for midi devices it still doesnt show up ..

  • @Milesk072296 Did you try connecting it to another USB port? Re-installing the software?

  • @Sphereal yes i tried different USB ports and reinstalling the softwawre. it works on my dell laptop just not my windows desktop computer :/

  • @Milesk072296 Which other USB devices are plugged to the desktop computer?

  • Try another USB-Port or cable. Does Win give you a message that you plugged it in?

  • no matter what i do I cant get the computer to even recognize the software. The keyboard wont light up or make sounds at all. Suggestions?

  • @OnewingedTenshi8995 The software or the hardware? Sometimes you just need to connect the mpk mini to another usb port and it will be recognized. This is often the case when you´ve got more than one device plugged in.

  • this is all jargon to me man, maybe you can help thru here. i have the knobs and keys working great but i want to set the pads to initiate loops or cut to certain parts in a song, as of now they just play lower notes than the keys of the selected plugin. im getting frustrated, please help.

  • @spaceeskimo11t Which DAW are you using? And how do you normally trigger loops?

  • @Sphereal not sure what daw is. and i dont even really know how to truigger loops w/o a controller.

  • @spaceeskimo11t A DAW is any software you use to record and produce music. Like Cubase, or Pro Tools or FL studio or logic...

    Which daw are you using?

  • @Sphereal fl studio 10

  • @spaceeskimo11t Nice, that´s the DAW I use. And what kind of loops do you wish to trigger? Patterns on the playlist or what

  • @Sphereal well ive seen people use live mode with that bottom half of the playlist, but its gone in fl 10. and id like to trigger loops from there with my drum pads.

  • @HelasMusic Not really. I have 0 experience with Pro Tools, so I am afraid I can´t help you.

  • @HelasMusic are u using FL studio?

  • @mrmeowingtonPhD thanks man

  • by the way nice video it helped me in some areas

  • Okay why is it that when i set the knobs to a vst plugin when i open the same plugin again to work on a different pattern the knobs dont work anymore. And this happens when i set it up for the parametric EQ also . when i edit another track in the mixer the settings only work for the previous track, is there a way to use the knobs in everything in the project or just one thing?

  • @MrFrutyloops because the option "remove conflichts" is on. You have to have it "off"

  • @mrmeowingtonPhD I suppose you didn´t watch the whole video. You select two different plugins with different midi imput channels. You can then control one plugin with the pads and the other with the keys.

  • @mrmeowingtonPhD I don´t really know what you mean

  • this would be so much better if you were talking lol. soo.. if i program it this way.

would it still have these settings if i plugged it into fl studio? and whats a "cc?" and a "VST"? i need another walkthrough of like

  • @JORDANROUBIQUE This would actually be much more worse if I had recorded my heavily accented speech.

Yes, FL Studio won´t make any changes to the settings you have loaded to your mpk mini. CC=control change. VST=Virtual studio technology. In this case, VSTs are virtual synthetizers, though "VST" may also stand for virtual plugins like virtual reverb or delay.

  • Dope video my man.....I added it to my MPKmini Tech playlist.

  • I very confused with the program changes. Help please lol. Can a nanopad send pc messages like that?

  • @gumdrops27 Yes, you just need to set the nanopad´s pads to send programm change messages. I wouldn´t use the nanopad for that purpose, though

  • I very confused with the program changes. Help please lol

  • aha.....

  • Hey! Great video man. I'm first gonna' get myself a pair of studio monitors and I think this will be my next purchase! ;)
