  • nice!!

  • Wow, you're good.

  • Beautiful work....

  • It amazes me that no matter how good it is there is always plenty people to pick it apart.

    Great job!

  • Really nicely done, and cool Graphic's. The only point that stands out really is this is the -A shuttle bay, and shuttle. the original refit had an open hangar deck, and totally different shuttles. the shuttles of the original refit were the same as the vulcan shuttle Surak that docks later only with out the sled. and they had star fleet pennant's and uss Enterprise written on them. other than that this was really cool.

  • @724Christian

Look into my channel there is a new version of this animation online.

  • Hi. Great Job !!!

  • Nowhere as good as the original models, CGI looks cartoony to me.

  • This is brilliant! I am glad I've looked into my inbox and found there was another one of these on youtube. Thumbs up to those who made it and thanks.

  • Makes me cry every time.

  • I love the updated shuttlecraft then the original ones used in the movie.

  • Excellent work - you are very talented. Well done!!!

  • wow the original was friggin long.

  • This is not the theme of the tmp, it is tng

  • @longanprod TNG used TMP theme

  • I think that you did one bang up job, AWESOME!!! I especially like how you used the shuttle craft instead of the original 1979 pod.. makes it look more realistic for this time even though it was SO LONG AGO NOW!!! I LOVE that module the most, more than any of the others including the original which was my childhood dream at the time...

  • utterly magnificent, words fail me

  • Stunning!

  • Good modeling and lighting, but one complaint: You shouldn't have tried to do an effect scenes to a piece of music that was for a scene with more than just shots of the Enterprise. Now the scene truly is to long.

  • where is the value in this? only a machine in space, automated and abstract?

Where is the people - the value or emotion of the expression of humanity? Take her out, not take 'it' out. Lets not forget our constitution,we are not robotics or instrumentation.

  • Never has anyone sold a space program with more vigor than Kirk and Spock.

  • VERY AWSOME!!!!! Now, if you could have an astronout waving that would be something!!!

  • The flyby in the movie was great. Anyone saying it was not isn't a true fan anyway. Screw 'em.

  • The First Star Trek Movie's Story was BLAH.............!

  • Guys, that was painstakingly well done!!! And your use of creative license pays off, as well. All true Trek fans love to see new angles and visions of something they are already familiar with. TMP has been reproduced many times, but this was just "MAGIC"!!! Thank you for the ride in the shuttle, instead of a travel pod (nice touch). I bet you to continue on to warp entry and V'Ger!

Carry on proudly!!! I'm adding this to my collection of awesome Trek vids!!!

  • dude that was fucking awesome,,looked like a real movie good job

  • 4.0 Job, I would suggest looking at some NASA footage of orbital sunrises. Other than that, excellent...

  • I notice that you replace Jupiter with the moon. Reasonable, given the time and distance considerations. The Jupiter shots were just coming in from Voyager 1 when they were doing the scene. But one thing I like about ST:TMP was the accuracy. Immediately after the Jupiter shot, we a captain's log stating 1.8 hours from launch. The speed was warp 0.5. If we take W 0.5 as being 0.5c, 1.8 hours is just about right for Jupiter. I don't think that was an accident, TMP cared about accuracy.

  • YOU GUYS ARE INCREDIBLE !!!! I love the CGI version of the Enterprise leaving dock full scale models dont do it justice anymore what an awesome video !!!!!

  • This scene is astonishing, with the Enterprise looking magnificent in her awakening lights, showing the true beauty of the Enterprise starships.

  • what did u use to make this

  • This is the best Enterprise built! I love the design! If I were granted a wish, she would be what I would wish for! Long live the Enterprise!

  • Pretty great work here. Well done.

R.I.P. Jerry Goldsmith, one of the greats.

  • AWSOME VIDEO MY HAT OFF TO YOU DUD YUR VIDEO ROCKS

  • this video is such a great homage to TMP.

  • Simply perfect. Great job!

  • YOU DID A GREAT JOB. I WAS 10 WHEN I SAW ST:TMP IN THE THEATER AND THE MUSIC AND SCENE TO THIS DAY STILL MAKES MY HAIR ON THE BACK OF MY NECK STAND ON END. EVERYONE BLASTS THE 1ST MOVIE, BUT EVERYONE FORGETS HOW LONG AGO IT CAME OUT AND IT WAS A VISUALLY STUNNING MOVIE FOR ITS DAY.

  • Nicely done! This Enterprise is to my opinion the most beautiful.

    keep up this work!!

  • Okay a little criticsm here: the animation is still flat. I'm sorry but it looks that way. The shots of space, and the earth horizon are real great, but the ship and the spacedock are not.

Also: pay attention to the same mistake the producers of the film made: it took to long to show the new ship, and you came away thinking: "...Alright! we've seen the damned thing!..."

Real good work on the perspective change to show interior of Hangar Deck while camera descends in 04:58.

  • @Dreaded88

Yes you're right this was the first attempt, but now there are 2 new animations online, look into my channel und you'll see :-)

  • @mylex67 Your work is fantastic

  • @Dreaded88 Actually, for those of us say... 20 or so years older than you... it took "just the right amount of time to show off the Enterprise" - we waited many years to see her again, and enjoyed the reveal. I think I speak for most people of my generation.

  • @Dreaded88 "mistake the producers of the film made: it took to long to show the new ship"

You obviously never saw this movie in the theaters after Star Trek had been off the air for ten years.

  • Fantastic!!!!!!

  • Nice job, just 2 very minor points A)thrusters leave a flickering light from the gas burning when leaving the dock and 2)You didn't have any people in spacesuits waving good bye. Excellent job however- the moon was a nice touch rather than Jupiter's red spot.

  • That was some beautiful work! My hat's off to you guys!

  • You have a great eye. I was really impressed with your previous TMP Enterprise animation. You even managed to recreate the distortion of the anamorphic lens in one shot.

The only thing I could wish for is that you kept the dock worker that did the backflip when the Enterprise went out...

  • Use a hint of film grain, that makes the models look less plastic.

BTW, was the warp drive off-line when they filmed this sequence? ;-)

  • sorry "ambient occlusion"

  • use ambient inclusion and the models will look much more realistic.

  • @tfcdomprice

Currently I make a new version of this animation with complete new lighting, hope I'll finished it next month.

  • (cont.) indicating the warp-drive coming online and being at the captain's discretions.

  • Absolutely fantastic piece of animation.

Having said that, I do have a few comments thoguh:

    1. The shuttle you are using looks way to modern, like something from the TNG-era. I do, however, like the idea of a shuttle being delivered when Kirk is transferred, instead of the small craft from TMP.

    2. Correct me I am wrong, but I seem to recall that when the Enterprise in TMP turned on its lights, this included the light in the nacelles (the long blue ones, and the small red ones), (cont.)

  • @ulca01

Yes it's the shutte from ST V, The Hangar of the Enterprise in ST V looks better for me, so there for I used the shuttle of ST V. But in the new version of the animation, which is actually in production you'll also see the Travelpod from TMP.

The blue Warp lights don't turned on, when the Enterprise leaves the dock, because Kirk said "Manouver trustes Mr. Sulu, take us out" :-)

  • @mylex67 : Ah, I did not realize you used a different hangar-bay as well (I have not seen that many TOS-episodes to recognize it, and I believe there were not shots of the hangar-bay in TMP.

As for the warp-lights, I seem to recall that Kirk DID order the warp to come online / be at standby / ready for use; and in those cases the blue (and red) lights should be turned on; as with most order ship-classes in Starfleet. But I will, however, admit I might be wrong.

  • @ulca01 Please rewatch or in your case, watch STTMP. There are two seens in the movie with the hanger deck shown. And you do not recall correctly. No where did Kirk

order the warp to come online / be at standby / ready for use.Wrong,wrong,wrong.... no warp nacelle blue lights were on until Kirk says later, "warp drive Mr. Sulu".Go back and look at this movie again.

  • @abanks1959 Since I posted my reoriginal post, I have had a chance to rewatch TMP, and can clearly see that I remembered wrong; I guess the thing with the nacelles is from the later movies or tv-series.

  • actually the shuttle is from star trek V era.

  • THis is absolutely UNBELIEVABLE!! FANTASTIC work!

  • OMG!!!!! Unbelieveable - you guys are amazing - simply the finest tribute to the greatest vessel in the fleet - ever.

  • Just awesome! Someday ... I will try to learn this kind of animation programming!

    Well done!

  • I love this, its like TMP all over again!

  • It'll be REALLY cool to see the enterprise prepared for Warp speed then into the wormhole, and so on...

  • Space is empty....

  • This is by far the prettiest, yet most purposeful looking Enterprise... Still cant get used to the reimagined Enterprise of the new movie, of which i think VERY well...

  • Fantastic!

  • my mom once called me a 'warp-core weirdo', but my mom is a bitch and she doesnt know shit

  • Very nice! As Good As It Gets!

  • wow...you really captured the beautiful feel of TMP with this animation! fantastic work!

  • Two of my all-time favorite pieces of Star Trek music, my favorite Enterprise, and some out-frakking-standing CGI work.

    Hats off to you, sir.

  • add to the dvd

  • This is *extremely* impressive, and also exactly what I'm trying to do for my animation class (Maya). I'm a modeling guy, and didn't even think to use texture maps for the windows (can you image figuring out how to carry the geometry of ALL those windows throughout the entire poly mesh?! but yes, I love star trek THAT much =)

I'd love to get your input for my texture maps. I'm guessing I'll need three: color, bump, and specular. Is there an easy way to do this? Any input would be AWESOME!

  • oh, and on the note of the blue on the warp engines...The inner intermix grills do glow blue at warp speeds, but not the outter grills. Watch TMP. or Wrath of Khan and u will see this. This guys grills did not glow, because he was running at impulse speeds, so they were not lit. This is very accurate to the filming model, and also everything he did with camera angles, except for the shuttlecraft shuttlebay sequence, is also accurate to what u saw in "The Motion Picture". Damn fine work.

  • love it

  • this is absolutly breathtaking. Where could i find this vid, for download. It would make a beautiful screensaver, on my PC.

  • Brilliant stuff!

  • this gives the ent refit the majesty she deserves. awesome work!

  • That was amazing! Outstanding work!

  • This is the way! I wonder what the refit JJ Enterprise would look like? Well done!

  • a cros with the Enterprise from the original series and the Enterprise from TMP

  • I was thinking the same thing, or even what a JJ Enterprise D or E would like too.

  • finally someone who didnt put blue on the inside of the warp nacelle. Everyone else did and it wrong! even Bethesda!

  • Blue on the inside of the nacelle?

    On the Enterprise?

  • @Airportchris2 Yes. But the blue is there only when the warp engines are active.

  • In theory, so is the dish. It's tan at slow speeds and blue at high. But a d*** good animation over all! You want to work with us? :)

  • it doesn't matter. i think bethesda's version with the blue on the inside of the warp nacelles looks cooler anyway

  • great job!

  • Wow, that´s great.

  • i am speechless your a really good Animator i love this along with your Animation of the Uss Enterprise 1000000/10 Excellent work your a legend in the Making.

  • Wow fantastic job! Great quality

  • Brilliant!!! You guys did a great job. FTW!!!

  • Yea with the new JJ Enterprise!!

  • Can u do This video again, only with the new alternate Enterprise?

  • HOLYSHIT QUALITY!!!!!!!!!

    I only noticed two bugs:

    a) The Shuttle bay that you made or used, are from the USS Enterprise-A !!! Not is equal to the Enterprise refit fro mteh first movie

    b) There a small bug of poly smooth in the saucer rim, near the impulse engine.

In any case ... I get a orgasm when i see the quality and the high detail of the ship, animation , etc.... !!!!

  • wow, thats too cool!!! is there a way to get this beautiful mesh of the enterprise?

  • I think it's Dennis Bailey's model. It's free and available to the public in both 3D Max and Lightwave. A google search should bring it up rather quickly.

  • Yes, it is the Mesh of Bailey, but i found only the Blender-Conversion on the Net :(

  • I know the 3D Max version exists out there somewhere. I work with the Lightwave version.

  • very cool

  • Amazing!

  • Once again, I'm awestruck...and honored to be a part of such a beautiful piece of art. Thank you for including me, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing more.

  • Man, this is beyond beautiful. The most wonderful tribute to TMP I have ever seen.

  • Gorgeous, beautiful, and stunning work! What a treat! Thank you for posting this!
