of course. it's called hells kitchen because it puts people under  A LOT of stress (hence why pro chefs have trouble cooking rice in there) because the winner gets to be a head chef.

They know what they're getting themselves into, the shouting and insults put pressure on the cooks and it gives the viewers entertainment. It all works.
