  • Green Day is a FAKE punk rock band .. wake up.

  • @nyomythus And The Kinks are one of the original Punk Bands

  • Yeah, another great song from one of the greatest albums ever.

  • These guys ripped off Warning by Green Day.

  • @HogNoseFilms Actually, this song came out in 1968 (see above) and Warning came out in 2000... So I think that Green Day got it from this song. :D I'm a huge fan of Green Day but you have to admit that Warning is almost the same as this. :)

  • gay ass faggot nigger bullshit

  • @2666ification : Hey everybody, we got an English major on this page!

  • So many people getting buttmad that other people like music they don't.

    Grow up.

  • I must say to haters of the Kinks or Green Day that I rather enjoy both this classic by the Kinks as well as Warning by Green Day

  • cycle of 5ths. Debussy did them too.

  • Lots of people have copied the Kinks, whether they know it or not.

  • Thumbs up if you didn't look this up because of Warning by Green Day.

Note: I looked it up because of another song that sounded like.

  • @BBall0027 I looked up this song because it's fucking amazing!

  • Your Mama and your Papa and fat old uncle Charlie a'boozing with their friends!

  • dear green day fans: GTFO!

  • fuck green gay

  • warning live without warning.....oops sorry wrong song

  • My son will definitely need a picturebook with pictures of his mama taken by his papa a long time ago ( to prove they loved each other a long time ago!)

  • Okay all, I get it!!! Warning sounds like this. But the Kinks Victoria sounds like Canned Heat's Going up the Country, the Doors Hello I love you sounds like the Kinks All day and All of the Night, and everything Oasis ever did sounds like the Beatles. I'm not a musician, but I assume they (musicians) are influenced by what came before them and they enjoyed listening to themselves. What a concept.

  • Picture Book...pictures of your mama, taken by your papa :)

  • I don't care that Warning sounds like this, I still LOVE Green Day. There are only so many chords to work with so of course some songs are going to sound similar.

  • This, Warning and Walkie Talkie Man, all have the "almost" same riffs.

  • @TheChaosBuster Add Big Bang Baby to that list. Sounds similar to me, anyway.

  • I like the part where they sing "Piictuuure book!"

  • ...the green day riff in warning is still completely different... like it rises then it decends... this one just rises. Green Day has proven they cant write their own stuff so I doubt if this was an intentional rip. I do agree is sounds similar.

  • Enough! Green day used the guitar riff! big deal- soooo many people steal them! it's no big deal! it happens! most of the comments are about Green day, this is a kinks song and if you don't like green day- too freakin' bad- maybe other people do. why not talk about THE SONG.

  • @Irishpunked Seriously, at least GD had the sense to borrow from an amazing band but the Kinks deserve their own attention for the amazing shit they did, which may be lost on GD fans but I am sure not on the band itself.

  • These chords are used in the same pattern in many, many songs. Lots of songs have the same chord progression patterns

  • uhm, why is everyone using this thread to talk about shitty music like my chemical romance and green day?

  • The Kinks are awesome! It's sad really that many ppl in this new generation have no clue who they are. I cry for them :(

  • fuck green day. at least the kinks don't wear makeup. talk about a washed up bunch of punk asses who sold their souls a long time ago.

  • @Killerpiratekev wooow cuz they have fame and signed with a huge company doesnt mean they "sold out",and who gives a fuck if they wear make up,dude MCR which sucks now wore make up

  • @VFloresTalent MCR?!?! my chemical romance can suck it they always sucked. greenday was good until they got older. some bands just wanna be hip and they end up looking like assholes that only appeal to children under 16

  • @Killerpiratekev true

  • @Rattshewantsmoney ooo is that all you have to say a "gay comment" You so sad, exactly what I expect from a troll like you

  • @Rattshewantsmoney really i feel sorry for you. with your low IQ, and bad taste of music. your like the helen keller of the internet

  • @Rattshewantsmoney this song is shit. your gay for commenting on a comment posted 7 months ago. BTW green day is 1000 times better than this piece of shit...

  • @hugebudd Goddamn you're retarded. You should be ban from using the Internet. Green Day would be embarrassed to have a fan like you.

  • @cmartinez011 Both you and your boyfriend are retarded. Look how old my first comment was. No troll no retarted shit. it was a fucking reference, he is the jackass for trolling on green day and your a little bitch for supporting him. Be smart and STFU when no one is speaking to you.... BTW this song is shit

  • @hugebudd I don't know what you said before and quite frankly, I don't give a fuck. I only commented on the comment you made 6 days ago. I could care less about the other guy. And fortunately, this is America, I can talk to who ever I want when I want, so you lose on that one.

  • @cmartinez011 Your still a gay little attention whore... look this is you "OMG these guys are fighting. im gona join the Douche and call the other guy retarted" for starters Your mom should be embarrassed to have a little girl such as your self. and second no one cares who you are... and just because this is america doesn't mean you have to go around trolling, its a waste of my time. Its sort of like how your parents wasted their time raising suck a retard.

  • Warning is way better, this old crap sucks

  • @HLFracture Greenday is garbage. Always have been and always will. Bunch of sellouts.

  • @fucker661

Hell yeah they sell out, they sell out entire stadiums because they don't sound like the sound track for a dance at the retirement home

  • @HLFracture if ur not trolling then ur a fucking moron

  • @mirelurk1

I'm sorry, but seriously, what's next? Are we going to dance the Charleston while drinking prune juice and talking about the forties?

  • @HLFracture haha ur a terrible troll. just stop

  • @mirelurk1

    lol okay

  • I love those cresendo's with the snare drum. Master piece. This is a song i'd play in my car during a road trip. Wheres my roller..

  • My biggest problem though with Green Day is how many riffs they ripped off from underground bands that can't or will not defend themselves. Minor Threat, Fugazi, Descendents, and many many more. I do like Green day though, there really tight and have a good influences. I just wish more people would check out the unsung bands that in many instances he he ripped off.

  • @GreenDayDookieDemos Changing one note from up to down doesnt make it a new song. So if i took Tightwad Hill changed two notes, the lyrics and renamed it without giving them a crdit or royalties its ok. Ray Davies should sue them. It didnt work out for Vanilla Ice when he tried say the same thing about taking one beat out of under pressure. They should pay royalties and give song writing credit on the album.

  • yes, green day stole this!!!! so much so that the dang greenday video came up when i looked this up

  • First off, great song Ive loved the Kinks since I was too young to remember. Second when I first heard Warning by Green Day it really pissed me off how much of a rip-off it was of picture book. It was around that time I began re-examining Green day and came to realize allmost all of there songs are complete rip-offs. Check it out sometime, allmost all there songs are rippoffs of the kinks, buzzcocks, even a Chicago rip-off.

  • @bassking80 Brain Stew - Chicago 25 or 6 to 4 or whatever the title is

  • I'm guessing green day wrote warning around the same time they covered Tired of Waiting for You off their shenanigans album. They must have been on a kinks kick that week. No biggie, you're influenced by what you're listening to at the time.

  • wow.... this song does resemble warning from green day o.e

  • @vmartin96

That's not just a resemblence; Green Day ripped off The Kinks.

  • @DominoGray i guess so :l

  • i emailed ray davies and told him he a big a**hole even though his music is great and i like him.

  • Sounds like warning, but its not the same. the last note goes up instead of down.

  • Sound like Green Day - Warning to anyone else?

  • @GreenDayDookieDemos Greenday stole it from the Kinks. But I can't blame them,; The Kinks is an amazing group. Sorry I'm not a Green Day fan.

  • HEY THEY STOLE THIS FROM GREEN DAY

  • @DannyGloverIsAwesome How can they steal this from Green day when they were 30 years before them?

  • @leftnutnamedchancey I don't think so, i'm kind of an expert.

  • @DannyGloverIsAwesome Ok Douche. What year was this song made?

  • @DannyGloverIsAwesome Exactly..you are far from an expert. You're a douche. Its 1968 asshole.

  • @leftnutnamedchancey *Hangs up sign* "Do not feed the trolls, they are quite ferocious".

  • @Crazylatinokid7 Ooops..there goes my dick..

  • @leftnutnamedchancey im pretty sure he is trolling dumbass

  • Green Day totally ripped off this song!! Warning is a good song though...

  • Green Day Suck and so does ALL that other shit from today - KINKS ROCK though ! rock on ray and dave !

  • eh, i only like dookie from green day. the kinks i like a LOT from. they're fucking awesome. but...it's my opinion. no fighting...please :D

  • 8 people have never made it into a picture book - especially in Sunny South-End ;-)

  • Green day FTW

  • Warning....live without warning.

  • Nodding my head side to side.

    Fun song!

  • Comment removed

  • Green Day? Hmmph... The Kinks came out long before they were even conceived

  • Most ripped off song of all time?

  • Okay, Warning DOES sound like this song..but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I, for one, am a huge fan of both The Kinks AND Green Day.

  • Warning is amazing? Really?

It's a crap 3 chord pop punk song (which is already a shitty contradiction) with a just enough of a stolen riff that they don't have to credit Ray Davies for writing the fucking song for them. Lame as lame can be. Like DaveS12382 said, it's ridiculous to even imply that these two bands are in the same ballpark. They couldn't even be said to be playing the same game.

In 50 years people will still talk about the Kinks. Green Day just blows.

  • @Slimer049 i like both green day and the kinks its like saying beiber sucks and the kinks are great and better but the beiber fans think of it the other way its a opinion

  • Comment removed

  • @Slimer049 Really? No. People will talk about, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Rolling Stones, Metallica, R.E.M. Aerosmith and other bands that were as influensive as those. The Kinks aren't bad, they're good. But they haven't been as influencive. And Green Day is one of the most influencive Punk bands. Especially after making their comeback 6 years ago. And I wish that Green Day could be here right now. They'd probably beat the crap out of you XD

  • @GreenDayGuitarCover1 I kind of agree with you, but the word is "influential" not "influensive" or "influencive".

  • @GreenDayGuitarCover1 The Kinks are extremely influential to bands like the Talking Heads, R.E.M, Pearl Jam etc. Green Day is hardly influential. Dookie was really the only thing they contributed to music (which really is negligible) while The Village Green Preservation Society, Arthur, and Something Else are all viewed as masterpieces in rock music. To say that Green Day is more important than The Kinks is like saying Big Mommas House is better than Citizen Kane. Ignorant dumbass.

  • @xxKiernan94xx Green Day are the ones who made Pop Punk Mainstream, bands like Blink-182, New Found Glory, Sum 41, AFI and My Chemical Romance have stated that Green Day's music influenced them and they all have said they learned so much from Green Day. Green Day might not have created the music they play, but neither did The Rolling Stones, The Doors or ACDC. I do agree with you in saying The Kinks were more influential, but it's not like Green Day never influenced anyone.

  • @jtessexpress There is alot of truth in your statement saying that they made pop-punk mainstream, but looke who Green Day influenced: AFI, Blink 182 etc. They were more or less just pop bands that probably will be looked over and thrown to the side in a few years. Not to say that those bands are bad, but merely unimportant. Early Green Day is wonderful though. They are the new Buzzcocks. They sound very similar to Green Day and are the true originators of pop-punk.

  • @xxKiernan94xx maybe the bands Green Day influenced will be forgotten about, (I doubt Blink will be forgotten about) but one thing for certain is that Green Day won't be forgotten . Who you influence doesn't matter, it's the bands own impact on the world that matters and Green Day has had a huge impact on the world so far, and they aren't about to stop. You thinking that only old Green Day is good is none other than your opinion, and I guess I have to respect it.

  • @jtessexpress Yes it is my opinion; I didn't mean to come off brash. I just think that newer Green Day lacks a lot of things the Dookie accomplished. I like much of Green Day's material and respect the hell out of them, but I think The Kinks were largely over looked for the brilliance they had. I didn't mean to offend or alienate anyone. Two very different bands and shouldn't really be compared. But, in influence, I truly believe the Kinks are more important. This is merely my opinion. Respect

  • mm greenday? havent thought of them sincee 94' with "dookie " ladies and gentlmen. and ray davies, what a realm insult here to be mentionedin the same breath as some flaming dogshit.

  • green day.. thats all i have to say

  • 8 people are too ugly for pictures

  • how the hell did i get this when i searched warning by green day

  • @hugebudd it must have redirected you to a song that isnt shitty.

  • @beaneroopie green day is awesome man warning isnt shitty it basicly has the same little tune just different vocals. to tell you the truth i havent ever heard of this band till now.

  • @hugebudd cuz its the same chords in the intro i think its E A D A something like that

  • @GrenadesandDaisies E A D G technically.

  • He just throws in that little cynical "to prove they love each other." almost as a throwaway. Greatest lyricist ever. Period.

  • ahhh, I love this!!

  • As far as great songs with great riffs and great lyrics, The Kinks are amongst the greats.

  • "Picture Book,

    "Of people with each other,

To prove they love each other,

    A long time ago."

Man, Ray's sarcasm is hilariously off the charts!

  • facebook.. pictures of your papa along time ago.

  • @tankbukkake actually it's pictures of the people I went to high school with but with 40 extra pounds.

  • i was on that pomogrant thing 299 bottle no prb wherr workkin tho yie great stones high kite ooouuiit man in black

  • This song screams my favorite people-Rita and Wayne...

  • While I am a fan of both bands, The Beatles could never write lyrics as original, witty, and intelligible as Ray Davies. And when the Beatles were still politely singing about "holding hands", the Kinks were rounding third and heading for home plate over menacing music on "You Really Got Me."

  • im starting to think the kinks are better than the beatles

  • Second fave classic rock band.

    WHY?

    Look like the beatles

    Sing like the beatles

    Make music like the beatles.

  • @Darkray39 the Beatles copied them

  • @bwc3821 acually, the Kinks copied the Beatles.

  • @Darkray39

They don't sound anything like the Beatles except for the British accent.

  • this...and green days warning...i see a relation...haha

  • Beatles made Kinks famous.

So please thank Paul and Ringo.

  • @Darkray39 How about no... the Kinks were making great music if they were famous or not. Being "pop" aint everyting.

  • Green Day didn't really rip this song off...I mean, it's in the same key and the beat is similar, but they are two totally different songs.

  • @jtessexpress Agreed, and also, the last note goes up, not down.

  • Great song AGAIN, and it looks like they all dressed at Henry's for the album cover.

  • This sounds like Warning from Green Day

  • @Goldiesly you mean...warning sounds like this right?

  • @FezTickle Yea even tho I love green day they did copy this

  • @Goldiesly Now listen to the Kinks "Sunny Afternoon" and then the chorus to Gorillaz "Feel Good Inc."

  • @Goldiesly More like Warning from Green Day sounds like this.

  • @Goldiesly It's seems like green Day used this riff for Warning.

  • @Damento12 They could have. But like most "Rip offs" the band didn't know that a song of theirs sounded a lot like an already existing song.

But who cares. Warning is amazing. Picture Book is amazing. Why are they both amazing? Because of that riff! :D

  • I love this song :).

It's funny how people are whining about Green Day ripping off this song. Warning came out TEN years ago. Stop dragging up a worn out argument and let it be. Let people listen to what they want. If it's Green Day, fine. If it's The Kinks, fine. If it's *gasp* BOTH bands, fine. If it's neither, fine. It's useless fighting over something that can't be changed. Discussion is fine, getting so angry is a waste of energy. Music should bring people together, not rip them apart

  • @blackbirdfly2010 I've known for a long time that Green Day ripped this off. It doesn't bother me though. I see it as an ode. It was just a riff anyway. How many people used Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly's riffing over the years? It's a compliment!

  • @Mohammets yea I listened to both and laughed that is was a rip... i love Green Day still, and I agree with you 100% on what you said!

  • The Beatles bore me. Can we say "lowest common denominator?" I thought so. Kinks rule.

  • who ever thinks Green Day ripped off this song wow!! like seriously!! grow up!!!! shit happens

  • @shayjorden123 listen to the guitar part in this, and then Warning's guitar part

  • To all the people who think Green Day ripped this off; Green Day is too much of a self respecting band to rip off another band. Please.

  • @iSeaSweeneyTodd

    hahahhaha

  • @cwsnow I.. didn't know that statement was ..funny

  • @iSeaSweeneyTodd i thought it was a joke?

  • @iSeaSweeneyTodd lolololol. Wait, that wasn't a joke? Dude, Green Day ripped off at least 10 bands.

  • @TheIdiotDisease Whatever man.

  • lol Green Day rips off everything.

  • @TheIdiotDisease your an idot......

  • Fuck Green Day. Kinks all the way.

  • Mystery Guitar Man anyone?

  • @MultiKdizzle dave davies.

  • @MultiKdizzle Oh yah!

  • I love teh resemblance between this and Green Days Warning..

both good songs and this is the first time ive listened to it :]

  • @xHereGoesNothin

Because Green Day sampled this, heck probably ripped it off.

  • i emailed Ray Davies one time from his website. He responded to my compliments.I told him he is so talented ,innovative and so under-rated. he responded to email an thanked me. this guy is down-to-earth and cool.

  • green day may have changed it a bit but they totally ripped it off from the kinks. just like they ripped off chicago's 25 or 6 to 4.

  • RIP Pete Quaife...your bass in this song is golden as in so many others

  • happy birthday ray davies

  • Kinks are underestimated man I'm trying to learn this on guitar see how hard it is!

  • Kind of sounds like Green Days Warning

  • @iamawitness23 kinda lmao

  • @iamawitness23 i had never heard this song before, thought it was a Warning mashup...weird.

  • @iamawitness23

Yeah, they stole it -- along with parts of a Bryan Adams song, the main riff from Skulls by the Misfits, and about fifty other songs.

  • @iamawitness23

The riff in Warning is from this song

  • @mikester5983 yeah but Green Day changed it up a bit.

  • @iamawitness23 that's because green day completely stole the riff. You think they could be more creative considering that was the title song of the album.

  • @HurfDurfAlive and in turn, steriogram stole green days "warning"

  • @iamawitness23 Green Days Warning kind of sounds like this*

  • Comment removed

  • @iamawitness23 ....cuz billy joe never had an original thought...just kidding i love Green day!

  • how bout some vid?

  • to all of the people saying warning is better or this is better or they could have been more original there are at least 4 other songs that use the same riff. and there all good, like picasso said "good artists copy, great artists steal"

  • yea but cmon m8 stealin aint nice and these guys have already had most of the credit and recognition taken away from them in da first place so u kno

but i cant get angry while this song is playing and besides - who can argue with picasso ;-)

  • I agree with efdexpIr1Jamreaper, I respect what you've said as well-however, would not call it 'stealing' , music, art....is all about ebb & flo.

  • Oh well I have to say I am a huge Green Day fan, and I have to admit, Warning sounds A LOT like this... but come on, Green Day are fans of the Kinks, so maybe they did it as a hommage to the Kinks?

And it's hard to write a song when another one is stuck in your head or something... believe me I write songs that actually are other songs all the time

so don't hate Green Day for sorta ripping this off... the Kinks are good but so are Green Day okay?

  • im not mad on green day and its really annoying when bands copy great artists like the kinks. but i sort of understand you in a way because i love oasis, and they copied 1 or 2 other great bands guitar riffs in their album definately maybe. for example they use t-rex's famous get it on riff in ciggerettes and alcohol

  • @VampireLikeYouAndMe

You should listen do it again, this song is like walking contradiction haha

my favorites green day songs was "walking contradiction" and "warning", but now I prefer picture book and do it again...
