  • I really love this game!! I have completed it a hundred times!! I think it's kinda better than the movie.

  • we've a fun fact for the public. you actually have the ability to get this game for at no cost at "ps3bigskydownload" - just open up google and key in "ps3bigskydownload". click on the 1st link and you'll be there. expect you actually enjoy it.

  • is this in PC?

  • Yes

  • I generally don't prefer games that have been based on films. I've so far been disappointed with all the Harry Potters sans CoS, so I don't see why this one is any different. However, I suppose I must give them credit for trying.

Now, the movie and the books were amazing and I cannot wait for the sequels, when if ever they should be made. I do admit the books will still be my favourites, but Dakota is exactly as I imagined Lyra to be, and I loved Pan, too.

  • God, I hated this game on PS3. It sucked soooooo bad! The film and books were awesome though

  • wow

  • kool

  • fk this, books should stay books, really sucks when becoming movies

  • To prove it is nothing to do with the so caleed "real god" heres some useful information. There is no god

  • hey im christian and the fact that you think your better then anyone is NOT biblical, im not trying to put you down but you got to watch how you represent God.

  • Thsi movie has nothing 2 do with atesiism.its fiction!why cant you christians tell the different between fact or fiction!

  • Christianity is fiction... it's myth. Just like this beautiful story.

  • the creativity of the movie is undeniable...

i just dont like it when the meaning of a movie is conceiled, and they try to wow the public with Graphics. I know you hate God, but dont try to be slick and make it seem Heroic! im not stupid, nor am im gonna fall into your judgemntal christian game and tell you want you want me to say "you all going to hell for making this movie!" please save it for insecure christians who think that a movie will determine if God in real or not

  • the truth is making a movie/book like this isnt the problem but the skrewed up self-rigteous people that called themselve christ like (but wasnt), That jaded the authors thinking into beliving that God/churches are out to get you, brainwash you, take away your freedom...they lied and on behalf of TRUE christians im sorry you had to deal with fakes...

  • Let me guess...never read the books? Didn't even hear of them until your local pastor told you they were "eeeevil?"

I'm betting you didn't read that the US Council of Catholic Bishops said the books were "intelligent and well-crafted entertainment?"

Yeah, I thought not. People like you don't read.

  • im an english major ...and it so happens I read ALOT,

and no i did HAPPPEN TO MISS "the catholic bishops councils text" or what ever ,I LIKE to do my reserch then formulate my opinions, and based off of MY OWN studing, i came to that conclusion, so please dont try to assume what You think I MIGHT have against this movie, my reasonings would probly make you revaluate you quick Judments about me, but i made a simple opinion ...sorry that your offende BUT it's just an opinion

  • dude, "sakurasymphony" dont try and bullshit that you have an english major, because that really means jackshit to anyone who actually knows what an english major IS

Im a 17yr old, 11th grade college student and I can spell better than you, and OMG! I can actually construct my sentences too, look at that

btw you DO an english major, you dont BE one

    idiot

  • nice... your name calling ...look kiddo, you will learn (hopefully soon) that opinions are like butts...everyone has one...and you dont need to get all defensive if someone does'nt agree with yours...research is how I do it! now if you wanna name call to prove a point go ahead BUT make me LOOk like an IDIOT by correcting me thoughtfully, and with a sense of tact, and integrty, not pointing out typing mistakes...OMG...alme.. I mean lame oops!

  • "have an english major?" you mean a degree? Nope I'm a senior, who has a literature focus. So I READ allot, WRITE great, SPELL badly, but get GREAT grades (thank you spell check!!) but you wouldn't believe me if I quoted the complete works of Shakespeare now would you? I feel sorry for you... if ONE opinion has you cursing the rival....you've Got ALOT of life to live sweets! : P best wishes to you and that attitude.

  • are you really a 11th grade college student ?...cuz your profile says your 22 ..which is it?

  • Wasn't it called the Northen Lights???

  • it was... they l8r changed it to the naming technique for the other two books, which were named on artifacts..

  • I know!like the golden compass just sounds gay.

  • Yeah but the U.S version was named Golden Compass!

  • You're truly ignorant. Read the book. It has nothing to do with killing Christians. I'm a Christian and I've read this book. Don't make remarks about things you have no idea about.

  • I love the book, and look forward to the movie. But this game will ineivtably be terrible. Much like Chronicles of Narnia, and almost every movie-licensed game out there.

  • your as ass-face. ever heard of the Spanish inquisition? or the crusades? the Muslims you butchered were actually bathing while you were living in hovels in squalor. seriously get a grip. no offence meant to normal Christians

  • I am a Christian.

But you should know that that attitude is ignorant.

You should not say "We are better than them"

But it's your opinion so I still find it ok.

  • i love this book, the book atack the religion, and what???? its a free world after all, and the Christians kill a lot of atheists in the past, so shut up TnnStar9

  • uh...there was such a thing called the spanish inquisition. any non christian, even if you were jewish was killed if u didnt convert. im sure there will something about that in elizabeth the golden age

  • This book is not based on the christian religion or christians, please go read the book before commenting on videos. Its based in another universe ffs!

  • game looks cool

  • Meanwhile, in the UK, Pullman had replaced The Golden Compasses with His Dark Materials as the title of the trilogy. But according to Pullman, the publishers had become so attached to The Golden Compass that they insisted on publishing the US edition of the first book under that title, rather than Northern Lights, the title used in the UK.

As the book was known as The Golden Compass in the US and Canada, New Line Cinema chose to use that title for the film adaptation.

  • Your wrong on that subject. For some time during the pre-publication process, the series of novels was known as The Golden Compasses. Pullman settled on Northern Lights as the title for the first book, and continued to refer to the trilogy as The Golden Compasses.

In the US,in their discussions over the publication of the first book, the publishers had been calling it The Golden Compass, which they mistakenly believed referred to Lyra's alethiometer.

  • Does anyone know why they changed the title from 'Northern Lights' to 'Golden Compass'? The alethiometer isn't a compass, it's more like a fortune telling device.

  • Phillip Pullman changed his mind about the title, he decided each book should be named after an object that played a key roll within that book as the other 2 already were ( Subtle knife, amber looking glass)

  • The name change was for American audiences... thinking they would find it more interesting I suppose...

Although the alethiometer isn't a compass, it does "point to the truth" like a compass points to "north".

I prefer the "Northern Lights" title personally, but it doesn't matter much, it's the same thing...

  • superalexo, i totally agree. I loved the books, and am hoping that the movies can hold up to Pulman's vision. hey should have made the game more like ther book.

    ChronoPrince, I disagree.

LOTR had videogames made, and even if they wernet that great commercially, they did not harm the movies or what people thought of the movies at all.

  • thats because the majority of lord of the rings was action oriented, like there were some absolutely monster battles and wars in that story

his drak materials doesnt really have very much fighting and action in it, so it would be more of a puzzle sort of game, like platform jumping and annoying shit lol

  • Now the magic is lost, its just about movies, games toys, and more money..the story is commercialized.

  • Very true

  • yeah, I can see where youre coming from, they think that they have to have amazing looking cgi and richly coloured environments with outrageous devices, but they forgot one thing

this story is set in a world almost identical to ours, it merely has different geographical locations (country names, races etc)

while reading the book, I imagined an almost normal london, just more 19th century looking and people with daemons

i didnt imagine weird looking zeppelins and futuristic looking buildings

  • totally agree!!!

  • totally agree!!

  • I hate it when they do this - they don't mention the book once and make it sound like the movie is an original idea. "Oh yeah, we got the concept art from new line to make it authentic." It would be more authentic if they studied the book and got drawings from Phillip Pullman.

  • What if Philip Pullman can't draw?

I see what you mean and I agree but the game is authentic in that it closely follows the movie, just as the movie is authentic in that it closely follows the book.

And in my opinion, no movie that is based on a book will ever be as good as the book and based on this principle of degrading quality, no game based on a movie (if the movie is based on a book or not) is worth playing.

  • Phillip Pullman can draw though! In the first book all the small pictures at the beginning of each chapter were done by him. They may not be Picassos, but he can draw better than me!

Yes i agree with you on the second part though. Movie tie-ins are an easy way for publishers to cash in on popular films. Even if its the worst game in the world, if the film's popular it will get to the top of the games charts.

  • It's true that he did the art at the beginning of each chapter, but that isn't exactly large scale stuff...

  • But if I was going to be making a game or movie like this, I wouldn't unless the author was there to comment on it. No matter how closely it gets to the book, the mediums are different, so the meanings and what they are able to convey is also different.

The book conveys meaning, the movies/games are just for entertainment. If you agree maybe you would enjoy a book called "Amusing ourselves to Death" by Neil Postman...

  • heh should have waited til the end of the video to ask a stupid question lol

  • Well i'll be playing this no matter how good it is... the chance to play these characters is simply too irresistable. I just hope it rocks. Is there an official game site? Like to know more

  • I wonder if that musical score will be in the movies.

  • Hi, i really liked the Music Score too.

The orginal trailer(aprox 2:30), the first part is from "Lady In the Water" the second I hope is from the movie and reminds the song from this video

  • you will show me the way? lol

  • Great!!!

  • I usually don't like video games base on movies but this one looks pretty cool. Thanks for posting!
