This isn't a good tutorial. Never go with Quick Format if you want to wipe out your HDD completely. Always choose the slow NTFS method.

Nope.And,to format,you need the OS instalation disk too.There are some computer producers that put the Windows OS in the hard drive,so when you boot,you can reinstall without disk.If your computer doesn't have that,buy another disk.

@nkrasn11 the same way.. take every "important files from drive c to an external hard drive or a disc. then put in your restoration disc (xp, vista, w7...) shut down with it. restart with it and automatically start all you have to do is follow instructions as you've seen here.. all you do is click and press certain buttons

it depends, I'm not sure if it's the same but should be, but sometimes word translation isn't the same. In sweden: Format (formatera) your harddrive and your OS and stuff will still be there, but all other programs like games and songs and videos will disappear. Reinstall (ominstallera) will erase everything, even the operating system. But as wmp comes with the windows os, it should be left when you format it, or you can look for it on windows homepage or something

Yes.. if your operating system is on one of those drives (which it most likely is).. EVERYTHING gets erased when you format the drive.

i guess not. what u cud do is format a part of ur hard disk but not all of of hard disk because you would be running the Operating system through the same drive. the basis concept is, i think, we cannot format or delete anything we are using. For the very reason we boot the computer from CD ROM while formatting... this is what i know cud be wrong too...
