i was thinking for a project.you could make a real life lightsaber!!!you could have a very powerful laser in the handle,this laser shines upwards towards a mirror held at the length you want by a small wire attached to the handle thats outside of the beam,then you could have a mirror on the top of the handle with a small hole in it for the laser beam to project outwards!!!!!!

@awesomemint I get the magazine in the UK - both paper and digital. I've also seen it in Smiths and sometimes on Amazon.

The big problem is the cost of getting stuff from the maker Shed. THAT'S the market they need to sort out... a UK/Europe maker shed so we don't pay a million pounds in shipping and import costs

the distance sensor was the only really useful idea for body-augmentation, and has potential for improving the senses.

There's a guy called mikey sklar who has done some cool bod-mods including implanting an rfid in his hand, having a ruler tattooed on his forearm for measuring wire and pipes, his latest idea is to wear a rare earth magnet ring so that he can 'feel' electric currents. Pretty cool stuff.
