John Holmes is an American Icon and and will be remembered for decades to come. And the reason is that he represents everything this country is and stands for. He was a nobody country boy who rose up to become the king of a seedy underworld. He wasn't a good guy or a bad guy but he was a cowboy and a maverick. Ofcourse, the porn industry is decadent relative to the rest of society but if you watch "Tell Them Johnny Wadd is Here", you can see John reaching for something meaningful.

The director of "Tell Them Johnny Wadd is Here" and creator of the Johnny Wadd persona, Bob Chinn, had hoped for a Clint Eastwood-esque experience for the viewer when producing this film. The quiet scene while John is planning revenge on Sam Kelly's killers is one of Holmes' more memorable and believable acting attempts. As collaborators, the nine-part Johnny Wadd series was enjoyable to review overall as it evolved throughout 1970-1978.

As a person who was a novice to the adult entertainment industry prior to when I first started co-researching this book, my experience with most of the people we interviewed has been extremely positive. In fact, I have made some wonderful friends. These are the same people who worked in different capacities throughout the period of time considered as "The Golden Age" in the hardcore porn industry. People employed in any vocation have the capacity for sleaze, so I don't tend to generalize.

There is no question that John Holmes was a drug addict. The fact that he was not able to effectively overcome his addiction(s) is a tragedy as it is for anyone who struggles with substance abuse, or addiction in any form. Our book reveals all facets of John Holmes -- in detail.

One last comment from me: If you read the book, as I have, I believe you will see that the authors did not whitewash Mr. Holmes' character. In my opinion, it is a well fleshed-out (no pun intended) biography. The authors went to great lengths to cover both the good and the bad characteristics of Mr. Holmes. (And on a lighter note: Read page 347 of the book, the "bald poodle story". It gives insight into how gimmicked the porn industry often is. This particular story is amusing.)

He narced out all of his fellow porn industry people to the cops when he was the biggest coke fiend/prostitute of all time.

Holmes was alleged to have "narced" out porn sets and fellow performers, according to former vice-cop, Tom Blake, but throughout the course of our extensive research for this book, not ONE case was cited by anyone who could confirm this to be true, including Ron Jeremy who'd had suspicions. "Inches" is extensive and sets the record straight on MANY of the urban legends surrounding Holmes, while clarifying old "information". Our bio contains good, bad AND ugly. We don't shy away from anything.
