I lost my father unexpectedly in 2008. When this film came out, it had an enormous emotional impact on me; the last scene reduced me to a tearful, blubbering mess. The music in this film is absolutely beautiful; Departures will always be one of my favorite movies.

Every so often, God will allow an angel from His personal orchestra to come down to earth and create music that will give us a glimpse of what Heaven is like. Hisaishi is one of those angels and this piece is alittle representation of Heaven. God Bless. Please see this very touching and emotional movie. I think many of the "dislikes" are frequently because the people who created the Utube interface put the dislike button right next to the word "Like", without the corresponding "dislike" word anywhere to be found. I've accidentally hit the dislike button because of this. Poor design.
