Because in Alpha 3, Shinji becomes quite MANLY and awesome. If I remember correctly, rather then letting 3rd Impact destroy earth, he stops it with sheer willpower (and a bit of help from his many hotblooded team mates) and gives his dad a good FALCON PUNCH to the face.

I love the Evangelion series, but I just have to say ... it must be the sheer condensed badassery surrounding him that made Shinji do that in the Evangelion 01. Also, pity he didn't use his AT Field, that would have just made the entire ship/missile/carrier vessel just deflect off the Robots' ship.

@YoYoKirby1 Japan only I'm afraid. To bring these games here would be a licensing nightmare. We did get 2 GBA ones though, Super Robot Taisen Original Generation 1&2. The only reason we got those is because the mechs were only owned by Banpresto, the makers of the games.

The licensing/copyright is basically one of the 2 parts to the problem, the other being the mech series that we do have here are among way too many companies to deal with. It would cost a fortune to license them all. I think the reason it's easier in Japan is the fact that a big majority of the mech series are owned only by a few major companies. About like 5 companies control like about 90% of all mech shows that were made.

Ah that makes sense. It seems Japan's system is also quite lax when it comes to "fanmade" stuff.

That's probably why games such as SRW or BMW and even doujinshis (manga and what-have-you) are thriving without the corporate hammer slamming down on their makers.
