1980 chevy MONZA couple v8 305 automatic & outside white & inside tan , really driver smooth running fast! very cold A/C & 4 speaker very lould! lol fm/ am cass tape.. i really love it very good car!!
I have a 1979 monza factory 305 spyder it's my first car funny story I actually bought when I was 10 for 250$ well all my friend spent there money on hot wheels I opted for the full size model lol
I bought a brand new 1980 Monza like this one with, but the 3.8 V6 and automatic. The color was perfect. Yellow for lemon. The cousin to the Vega. Guaranteed to self destruct after driving out of the showroom. What a piece of junk. After 3 years of break downs and repair bills I finally dumped it for a new first generation Sentra. Fast forward to the GM bailout. The Corvair, and then the Chevette were Chevy's better small cars.
Nice car, I always thought this was a much better car than the Citation, I don't understand why the Monza never sold in large numbers like the Citation did
@Doobie1975 Because for One the Citation was FWD And offered more Room..Was more versatile..and they advertised the SHIT Outta the citation on TV When it first came out, In 1980 over 800,000 Citations were sold..Yes 800,000 you Heard me correct!
@jakesaintsrow123 God, citations were pieces of crap, they're one of the worst cars to work on! The later TBI 4 bangers had the intake manifold made on top of the distributor, and the tall Cap and rotor,so You almost had to either break it off or take off the intake manifold to change them! the transmissions were crap,GM was eating those on warranty for years! I'm not even going to go into the handling and braking issues they were famous for.
This was a good car. Buddy of mine had one with the 2.5L Iron Duke and a 4 speed. (4th was over drive) Got great mileage and was very responsive and sporty.
I owned a 80 Monza...the hatchback in that same silver color with the burgundy interior....only thing is I wished I had the standard instead of the automatic....
These cars wouldn't be so bad to own when installed with a powerful V8, I thought the Monza's were much better looking than the Mustang II's although it did look dated for 1980.
my ex car 1980 chevy MONZA coupe out white and inside tan really very nice! v8 305 real fast i love it i make very sad ,i miss car oh well..i never forger talk about that
It was my 1st car; felt like it was falling apart because it was! In a few months the Chicago winter rusted it so bad the entire drivers floor fell off, the doors had holes in them big enough to put your foot through. Road salt is bad, but this was a joke! Engine burned as much oil as it did gas, engine mounts fell off so entire engine jumped around. Bought for $500 back in 92', sold for $300 as junk! Oh, and lets not forget, it had ONE speaker in the center of the dashboard on top. p.o.s.
I had that EXACT piece of shit as the commercial; the color, the original hubs, everything. Bought it for $600.00 in 1990 from some old lady. It ran for about six months. It was actually quick, good on gas, but felt like it was falling apart about a week after I bought it. I sure thought I was stepping up, because my last vehicle was a ten-speed bike.
Those cars are uncomfortable and heavy, for a small car... I had a 75 Monza town coupe. I had a chance to buy an 80 or 81 Monza coupe, back in 88, 4 spd for only $100, that ran great. I shoulda bought it. lol
Funny they spent advertising money on the last model year of this car.

I had one too. The plastic interior was so cheap it disintegrated in the sun. No wonder the perception of GM quality was effected for years to come.
Thankfully GM and other American car companies are finally now building better quality vehicles.
