My dentist takes an x ray every year, and actually SHOWS me where something went wrong since last year. You can see it if you have a cavity. That's really nice because that way it's way easier to kinda live through the experience. If you know exactly what is going on.
I don't really brush my teeth that often and I drink sugar free fizzy drinks and shit all the time, and I eat stuff that's probably "bad" for your teeth. I've NEVER had a cavity.
Six months ago, I had a routine checkup; they had "suddenly" found a cavity, which was weird, because last I checked, I had NO pain, NO visible markings, NO confectioneries. From personal childhood experience, I only had TWO previous cavities, and I know because they were actual visible toothaches as a result of Halloween candy. I am not at all a conspiracy theorist, but I'm beginning to doubt the medical business...
you should consider getting rid of the metall fillings in your mouth, and replace them with composite plastic. the old metall fillings contain mercury, and could be a health hazard.
anyways, it may be expensive but its worth it. alright that was all.
@peter17dude dude do you know what's those white composite fillings are made from? they're all very toxic and can cause cancers. The best stuff is gold man. Gold crowns on back teeth is the best choice. Of course for front teeth you must need the white stuff.
I had/have a great dentist I have been going to him ever since I could remember and I had two problems, one small cavity that I had to had filled and it was small enough that I didn't need the numbing stuff (Novocain) and I am having to get a graft to increase the gums on my bottom teeth because there isn't enough there, but thats my parents fault because I believe it is genetic.
I had a really cool dentist for 18 years. I went there for checking every 6 months, never had a decay dental problem in my life so far.
The checkups were like 2 minutes, zzzzzzz.... rinse mouth, drink, "Brush regularly, don't eat sweets, ya ya...", out the door.
I don't know if I actually have any cavities because the checkups are so fast I can't be sure he's being thorough, but my teeth, gums and mouth has never given me any trouble.
college buddy of mine had braces when i met him n after a few years i asked "so when are those coming off?" he replies, "I don't know, ive had them for 12 years" I referred him to my dentist who told him his teeth were fine n promptly removed them. Yeah, sucks that there are dentists out there that are like that
i used to brush 3 times a day at very little sugar and got at least one cavity a year, now i eat more sugar and brush, well much less, and havent had a single one in almost 6 years knock on wood
in comparison i never fucking went to the dentist for like ten years or more... cause i was a scardy cat. and all i had to do was look at my teeth in a mirror to know that i had a hella bunch of cavities. when my parents made me go to the dentist as a child i never had cavities... funny how that works and also totally debunks his theory. and for all you hygiene freaks i grew a pair and got everything fixed!
Glad your last dentist was good enough to fix your grunge mouth so you haven't needed any more fillings. Yup... must've been a scam... he couldn't have fixed the problems well. Found a new Donk on You tube
You do not know what you do not know. It is a good thing you had such a great dentist when you were younger who did all the work so you could go ten years with little work. When you were younger, your "back" teeth, unless sealed, are prone to decay on biting surfaces. Back teeth have natural pits in them where the enamel from the cusps meet and are impossible to clean as they are narrower than the diameter of toothbrush bristles. Most decay on back teeth occur as they erupt into the mouth.
i've been watching your videos (great btw) and I always find it amusing that whenever theres a dog you always talk to them with a high pitch voice lol. Like it matters what pitch you talk to them with.
It does realy. Dogs and other animals pick up higher pitches. So M13 is doing all right, talking with dogs and other animals like that makes them not only trust you alittle bit more but they will not be that afraid of you.
Haha it' so ironic. I made that comment months ago nothing fully understand why he was speaking with a high pitch voice--now I know. I recently got a puppy and I notice that I unconsciously talk to my puppy with a high pitch voice. I caught myself talking like that and started laughing. Its very true that dogs respond a lot more effectively if you talk that way.
good thing i have a trustworthy dentist. ill admit i didnt go for 3 years and one of my teeth (already reconstructed) started falling apart. i had 600 bucks worth of work done because of my neglect, and after the last 2-3 visits i havent had a single problem. but i can imagine some dentists being dishonest...mine shows me pictures/x-rays before any work is done so i know whats going on.

If you feel pain in your tooth than you have inflammation of the roots, and the pulp in it. If it goes loose it can lead to loss of the tooth, or even worse.
Of course it is industry but at the same time it does not mean that you should neglect your health.
I've never had a problem with my dentist, I usually get my teeth cleaned by the hygienist once a year or so, the dentist comes in for maybe 3 mins (which is still a scam i suppose since they charge well enough for that 3 mins...the joys of the American health care system) and out he goes. No false fillings at least.
same here i brushed my teeth twice often sometimes once and i got alot of cavities, now i havent gotten one in a long time, maybe its something to do with your baby teeth
Of you don't get new cavities. That's because all the places, where it could happen (i. e. aren't cleaned properly), are already filled! At least that's how I explain it, because I hadn't a cavity for 10 years or so, too, but most of my molars are already "drilled".
Same here. When i was a kid my parents made me brush my teeth and take it easy on sweets. Now I eat allot of sweets and never brush my teeth, no cavity's.
To be honest, I brushed twice daily for a few years and got cavities, then I started brushing once daily and haven't had a cavity in about 15 years..
I recently got dental insurance, so I went to the dentist for the first time in at least 9 years and had no cavities. Meanwhile, my girlfriend's friend is crazy about brushing her teeth and has a mouthful of fillings. So I believe once per day is plenty for brushing your teeth as long as you do a good job brushing.
I couldn't agree with you more Mordeth! I think that dentists do "find" way too many tooth problems. Although, don't forget that your Taiwanese dentist *could* be way crappier than the Canadian dentist, and thus didn't notice any of the other problems. Or Western dentists are just crooks :)
If the dental work is going to be costly, get a second opinion before getting the work done. Sure it may cost you from nothing to up to $50 for the second opinion, but you can check on what the first dentist said is true or if he's a greedy bastard.
Those dogs are soo cute, reminds me of when i lived in zambia, we always saw things like that. Once when we went to zimbabwe we picked up an injured tortoise that we think had been hit by a car, and he was fine.
Like anyone some dentists are not trustworthy, I have never had a cavity. Also one reason might Taiwan might put Floride in their water, some places in the states do that, and Canada might not IDK
free? i need to move to taiwan! ... i had to pay 25 flippin GB pounds just to have my teeth cleaned by a hygenist because my dentist said i needed it, the hygenist saw my teeth and said " i don't know why he's sent you here, there's nothing wrong with your teeth apart from you need to floss so i'll show you how to do that " and she did that and cleaned them a little... £25 is like $50 to you, i couldn't believe it
im 23 and i used to live on junk food, still do sometimes and i have never had a filling, plus i only used to brush my teeth once a day, when i got up before taking a shower, and thats it... i havent been to the dentists in 3 years and my teeth are still fine
I haven't seen a dentist since 2003, I only brush in the mornings, I drink lots of Coke, I eat lots of chocolate, and I like sweet food in general. My teeth haven't fallen out, and they don't hurt. Yet many people who get fillings complain of severe pain afterwards. It's bloody ridiculous. It didn't surprise me one bit when there was a news report on dentists scamming people with unnecessary treatment.
Two pence is rounded up to four cents. But yeah, I think the first dentist was lying but the newer one didn't really care how much he got. One of those people that just love their jobs.
The reason you don't have cavities now is your molars are now almost entirely made up of mercury/silver. So instead of getting cavities, the acid is slowly dissolving the mercury which is accumulating in your brain causing you to have trouble remembering they are called molars.
I'm actually in the same boat as you. As the fillings get old I've had them replaced with the gold or that white resin material. I've also avoided a root canal by getting a second opinion.
M13, you have so fucking put my mind at rest about my eating and brushing habbits, (i had a similar experience getting shit loads done to my teeth as a kid, now i dont bother)
Well atleast the people who dumped the dogs did so next to a factory, it seems like the poor are the only one who would care for them in the places iv been. You dump those dogs in a rich suburban area - dead by the end of the week
I'm sure there are good and bad dentists. Just like an auto mechanic. I think people are LAZY and take such bad care of their mouths that the dentists have tons of work and dont need to be scam artists in most cases. I'm in the US & 26 years old & NEVER had a cavity and was just x-rayed Jan. 26th of this year.
Auto Mechanics? I remember a news show where they went undercover with a lose spark plug wire to different mechanics. 90% of them lied about the problem and cheated the woman out of money.
I thimk I remember that show. W5 I think. I also remember a case where a nation wide transmission shop was found to be putting metal filings in their customer's transmission fluid.
My dentist actually SHOWS me the cavities with a mirror. Usually they turn out to be much bigger than what you can see from the outside, but by then I have no reason to distrust her. What you pay for a small cavity is exactly the same as for a big one.
I don't know if I could leave strays like those puppies out if I saw them. Part of the reason I am holding back from packing up and moving to Asia is I would be afraid that I would just have hundreds of animals haha.
I do agree with you on the dentist thing, ever since them going "part private" here in the UK he has found a lot more, where as my older dentist when I was young and ate a LOT more sweets said I had some of the best teeth he had seen, and he was a better dentist whilst being free.
When we were kids my mom almost sued our dentist because he "found" and filled about 5 cavities in my sisters mouth. Unfortunately, he didn't ask permission first and they were on her baby teeth, one of which was already loose and about to come out. And over here, it wasn't free...
I dislike these comments. American shelters kill thousands if not millions of dogs every year. The only difference between Taiwan's strays.....and America's strays......is that America just kills them faster.
I think adult teeth are stronger than baby teeth. I had 6 cavities in my baby teeth, and I've had...none in my adult teeth. Although my bro-in-law went to the dentist for the first time in 4 years last month and he had 6 cavities.
You'll never find a lazy dentist, at least not in the US. It's hella hard and expensive to become a dentist.
when i was a kid i always felt like my dentist was digging into my tooth to fill it up agian. she would pick and drill at a certain spot on my toothe for a good 10-15 minutes then say i had a cavity
Damn I never thought of it like that? I've had pretty much all my molars filled as well as a kid, not even a tooth ache in the last 15 plus years. Kit Kats Rule!!!
I'm 18 and i went to the dentist yesterday and he just started taking x-rays that i didn't even ask for and it cost me a extra $200! Australian dentists are cons!
I'm not one to defend dentists, but you're alleging 100% unethical behavior from people who have spent a ridiculous amount of time in post-secondary eduction to do what they're doing. That would be a big risk on their part. I think it's more likely that kids just get cavities, period. I've seen probably 10 different dentists from around the world and still, all my problems were when I was younger. Really cute puppies, and they looked pretty healthy!
Also: the chemistry of your mouth changes as you age. You're more likely to develop cavities in your youth, peaking around the middle/end of puberty, and then your mouth mellows out and you get fewer later in life.
Since going to a dentist in Taiwan costs pretty much nothing, who pays them? And are they paid based on how much work the do, or is it all the same?
For example, would the dentist get more money if he fixed six of your teeth than if he just fixed one? If not, then I can kind of understand why they wouldn't want to do too much work.
I do kind of agree that health care (in America, specifically), is one big scam. They charge a shitload of money for problems that don't exist or they caused.
Our dentist is australian (most are in the UK) and hes never found a problem with my teeth, and im not exactly a regular brusher.. and i have loads of sugary stuff. Or maybe thats a conspiracy too, wait until they need loads of work done, then sting! even though its free for us :S
Wait till your older they all want to "cap"or bridge you teeth.

gigaz3r0 3 years ago
The reason you don't have cavities now is your molars are now almost entirely made up of mercury/silver. So instead of getting cavities, the acid is slowly dissolving the mercury which is accumulating in your brain causing you to have trouble remembering they are called molars.
kruzer30 3 years ago
Yeah, I've heard about this. Kinda sux.
13mordeth 3 years ago
I'm actually in the same boat as you. As the fillings get old I've had them replaced with the gold or that white resin material. I've also avoided a root canal by getting a second opinion.

M13, you have so fucking put my mind at rest about my eating and brushing habbits, (i had a similar experience getting shit loads done to my teeth as a kid, now i dont bother)
Well atleast the people who dumped the dogs did so next to a factory, it seems like the poor are the only one who would care for them in the places iv been. You dump those dogs in a rich suburban area - dead by the end of the week

Remember to floss and use salt water to gargle. Keeps your gums healthy and sick gums cause putrid breath.

Adammaniaminded 3 years ago
Auto Mechanics? I remember a news show where they went undercover with a lose spark plug wire to different mechanics. 90% of them lied about the problem and cheated the woman out of money.
13mordeth 3 years ago
I thimk I remember that show. W5 I think. I also remember a case where a nation wide transmission shop was found to be putting metal filings in their customer's transmission fluid.

My suggestion for a dentist? Try find one that doesn't scam you off.
Not easy, I know, but they are out there. I know I have a very honest, authentic and professional dentist. ^~^

Yeah, my dentist shows the x-ray, then when she drills she shows me all the rot inside the tooth before she scrapes it out.
Velocityzero84 3 years ago
I see you natural maternal instinct coming out with those puppies. They are cute though.
Why dont you pack them in a box, take them home, and let Baobao mother them senseless?
dctim 3 years ago
My dentist actually SHOWS me the cavities with a mirror. Usually they turn out to be much bigger than what you can see from the outside, but by then I have no reason to distrust her. What you pay for a small cavity is exactly the same as for a big one.
Cute puppies, btw.
JohnnyBGod 3 years ago
in the Netherlands you have to go to the dentist 2 times in a year...
lwkleijn 3 years ago
I don't know if I could leave strays like those puppies out if I saw them. Part of the reason I am holding back from packing up and moving to Asia is I would be afraid that I would just have hundreds of animals haha.
I do agree with you on the dentist thing, ever since them going "part private" here in the UK he has found a lot more, where as my older dentist when I was young and ate a LOT more sweets said I had some of the best teeth he had seen, and he was a better dentist whilst being free.

i'm 20 and still scared of dentists
don't know why i just don't like to go there

When we were kids my mom almost sued our dentist because he "found" and filled about 5 cavities in my sisters mouth. Unfortunately, he didn't ask permission first and they were on her baby teeth, one of which was already loose and about to come out. And over here, it wasn't free...

i could never live in Taiwan, i love animals way to much, I would have a house full of dogs and leave food everywhere :(
MadR6 3 years ago
I dislike these comments. American shelters kill thousands if not millions of dogs every year. The only difference between Taiwan's strays.....and America's strays......is that America just kills them faster.

Wow, you're flying through those narrow little alleys. I would be lost in 5 minutes. Interesting video!

DarkNinja75 3 years ago
i agree with ya. hehe my teeth are getting old.
glumGlumm 3 years ago 2
when i was a kid i always felt like my dentist was digging into my tooth to fill it up agian. she would pick and drill at a certain spot on my toothe for a good 10-15 minutes then say i had a cavity

I'm 18 and i went to the dentist yesterday and he just started taking x-rays that i didn't even ask for and it cost me a extra $200! Australian dentists are cons!
8cuttlefish8 3 years ago
I'm not one to defend dentists, but you're alleging 100% unethical behavior from people who have spent a ridiculous amount of time in post-secondary eduction to do what they're doing. That would be a big risk on their part. I think it's more likely that kids just get cavities, period. I've seen probably 10 different dentists from around the world and still, all my problems were when I was younger. Really cute puppies, and they looked pretty healthy!

420 eat kitkats every day!
Also: the chemistry of your mouth changes as you age. You're more likely to develop cavities in your youth, peaking around the middle/end of puberty, and then your mouth mellows out and you get fewer later in life.

Puppies are cute!
