  • I'm so tired of hearing anybody try to defend this lame piece of "legislation." You didn't even pass it for the benefit of the people, but for the benefit of the health insurance companies that caused the problem in the first place. It is nothing more than a bailout bill for them. You can take this law and stick it where the sun doesn't shine! If you cared the slightest bit about real people, you'd have insisted on a public option or single payer. Your administration is a corporatist one.

  • Mr. President: I am so proud of you I could burst! Thanks for defending us in so many ways and for changing the way the world looks at our country. It has been difficult for me lately to say proudly I am an american. But your bold and enthusiastic policies have restored my faith in a bright future for a country that I love so much... Now... if only I could have forgiveness in my heart for the selfish, the heartless, the racists, the ones who wish you wrong I would be OKAY. God bless the USA!

  • Kudos for trying to rein in the greedy healthcare system, but alas they are too powerful. They've convinced the world that it's exactly what we need. The best that we can't afford. If I had a magic button that would replace every elected official in Washington, I would push it now....

For all of our citizen's that are facing bankruptcy and death...SORRY! I will pray for you!

  • @WKPporgressive So much for his lasar like focus on Jobs, Jobs, Jobs.

  • Holding Insurance more accountable. You are giving them billions in subsidies to do what they already do. You have wasted a year and a lot of taxpayer dollars to pass bills that the people don't want. You have to lie chest and steal to get votes. The loans for education have no place in healthcare. The taking American legal right to choose has no place in healthcare. FYI Insurance co. raise premiums because health care cost go up.

  • So basically what Barokeydoke wants Congress to do in order to create ObozoCare is to amend a law that doesn't exist yet by passing a bill without voting on it.....and maybe sprinkle in a little pixie dust while they're at it.....yea,that's the ticket

  • The real costs are: (1) 10 years of taxes for 6 years of benefits.

    (2) Cut $460 billion from Medicare.

    (3) Rob $52 billion from SS.

    (4) Rob $72 billion from long-term disability.

    (5) Double count the above as bill cost offsets.

    (6) Transfer $371 billion into another bill called Doc Fix.

Thus, the true cost is $2.3 trillion for first 10 years, not the democrats advertised $950 billion. This means ballooning the deficit.

  • Yes, healthcare for everyone. How big is the new staffs? 10 times bigger then the DMV after all it services the whole population. Who pay for it? You, people who work at McDonald, Starbucks, grocery cashiers, shoe stores, waiters, bartenders.Oh yeh, were paying for the DMV and we will pay for the new Gov healthcare staffs. If you dont pay you go to jail said Uncle Obama, first President ever to jail his own citizens, illegal aliens excluded.

  • Could someone say what is premium, up or down vote and thank you for that.

  • Pass single payer now.

  • Thomas Jefferson: "The best way to help the poor is to make them uncomfortable in their poverty." .Thus, a safety net like Medicaid is ok, but universal healthcare will make them too comfortable in their poverty. And if you dont believe universal healthcare is for the poor, then understand something: Wealth redistribution is not in the Constitution.

  • excellent!!!

  • Barokeydoke said "Let your voices be heard" on his DeathCare bill.....and in St Louis today, the public isn't allowed into his little meeting.....which puts him in the running to become the poster boy for negro stupidity

  • Isn't that carrying on a tradition set forth by the Bush regime Obama pledged to change?

Whoops there goes another rubber tree plant

Yet they hold on to their

    HIGH EE EYE HOPES!

    Yes they have

    HIGH EE EYE HOPES!

    One bad turn

    deserves another one

(sung to the tune of the Sinatra)

    (classic _High Hopes_ )

  • you talk a good game and that its

  • how did you get elected president? Don't worry you WILL be a one term president.

  • Most recent increases were to "hedge bets" against passage of Obama care!

Requiring Ins. Co."s to cover pre-existing medical conditions is like requiring an Insurance to company to pay for flood damage that happened before a home owner bought flood insurance, that is insane! Obama wants to Bankrupt Capitalism and replace it with Socialism (Govt. owned and operated industry, health care, banking, investment, you name it!).

  • exNYinTX : You run from serious debate?

can't go toe toe with genuine thinker can you? Put forth example, explain your reasoning, then answer the questions with real substantive responses, not F/U F/Off (these responses only reveal a simple mind!).

  • @PoorMansPlato F/U and F/OFF are classic responses for exNYinTX aka Triumph The Insult Comic Dog.

  • Is that a literal association or metaphorical? I do now remember Triumph(the Insult Comic Dog). Was a rather trite attempt at humour that showed the creative level of a 5 yr old. iow a very immature and undeveloped sense of what is funny.

  • @maskedphrogg Well I think it's perfect for that recalcitrant clown.

  • On reflection of your comment and a review of the various threads Triumph the No Wonder Dog has entered the association became crystal clear. The very same style and to a great extent content that the loser account Triumph the Bawdy Inarticulate thinks he's Comical Insult Dog was renowned for.

    Good call.

Am waiting in futility for an answer to my question of what a displaced Socialist from NY is doing pretending to originate from TX in these threads.

  • @maskedphrogg.

    I'm so sorry your Highness.

I didn't realize I was keeping you waiting on an answer to your question of what a displaced Socialist from NY is doing pretending to originate from TX in these threads.

  • Woof!

    Woof woof!

    AR Ooooooooooo!!!!

  • Now that is the most intelligent thing you've said yet.

  • @poormansplato

Had you not been afraid to reply directly to me I would have received and already replied to your ramblings.

We all can't feverishly keep refreshing the page to see if someone acknowledges us.

I realize now that you've retired you have a lot of free time but I still have to work. Unlike you, I don't get govt run healthcare. I mean Medicare.

And after looking at your comments above, all I can say is, when the genuine thinker arrives tell him to reply to me.

  • I visit this page twice a day. Once after breakfast and once after work. The one or two replies that YT cc's to my Inbox bring me here and I have enough sense to Search on pseudonym to bring forth other related conversations.

A number of independent (aka genuine) thinkers have responded to you repeatedly. Your churlish rebuttals of "doesn't make sense" or "go away" hardly qualify your replies as the product of reason or effort. You don't like being challenged and throw tantrums when others do so

  • Funny how all you "independent" thinkers say the same fucking thing. I guess Tuesday is your day to use the brain cell.

I can't have a rational discussion with someone who keeps saying the sky is green. (No, you never said the sky was green. Yes it is a metaphor.)

So instead I ridicule your laughable attempts at "independent" thought.

Although as I noted, sometimes I enjoy stopping by to make fun of you rightards for giggles. You'll know when I'm doing that because I'll be cursing.

  • @exNYinTX

    (stifling a yawn>

Hoo Hah ya fricken moronic untalented mutt.

    Get a day job.

Your feeble attempt at entertaining is moldy and boring.

Credits for getting loose of your leash and evading your owner for so long.

  • @maskedphrogg Triumph didn't ( or couldn't) pay the taxes for the Socialist policys he consistantly voted for. Now he's down there spuing his ingorance in Texas. If there's a God I pray he gets his ass kicked. Daily.

  • I was thinking more along the lines of pickup trucks w/chains that drag objects behind them.

Didn't want to get tarred w/the image of wrinkled old white guy wearing a sheet and bleeting about how they "took err jahbs"

But I do picture exNYinTX hiding in a hobbit hole w/other hobbits in order to avoid such a scenario.

  • @chaumont20 and maskedphrogg.

Since neither of you replied to me directly, I'm not sure if you wanted an answer.

They say a lot of differences can be worked out with a face to face meeting.

I would enjoy the opportunity to meet up for a good old fashioned "discussion" with either or both of you immensely.

  • Triumph I'm not doing the men's locker room thing, no way, no thank you.

  • Yeah, I read about the experience you had last time.

The newspaper reported after your 200 guy, week long gang bang that you couldn't walk for a month.

They also mentioned the smile on your face lasted for another month.

But I could never figure out why your handle isn't chaumont200? I guess you just don't like to brag.

  • Now your jealous?

    What a revelation.

We have a gay bashing homosexual in the group fellas.

Yep, nothing new under the sun today.

  • @phroggy

Anytime 2 people are so in love as you and chaumont200 are, it's hard not to be a little jealous. The way you rush to his defense is touching.

And as a progressive, I strongly support your right to marry. I just hope I get an invite to the wedding.

  • boohoo

  • @chaumont

I'm sure the State where you're spuing your ingorance is very proud to count you among its residents.

  • Triumph " When we pass the bill then you'll be able to see what's in it". Did you write that for Nancy Pelosi. That sounds just like you.

  • @chaumont20 heh...that's like saying that when you eat a shit sandwich you wil be able to see what is in it

  • @Armigerous

    My lord, that's funny.

Although I never thought you were particularly concerned with what was inside your shit sandwiches. After all you've been eating them for a long time.

Good day Lord Locksley you pretentious, pompous racist fuck.

  • But only after you've taken the first bite.

  • @phroggy

You've had 7 hours to think about it and that's the best you could come up with? Really?

  • @chaumont200

Why yes I did. Thank you for noticing.

I did persuade them to include the chaumont200 clause, calling for asshole reconstruction surgery.

I was also able to get a special waiver in your case so it won't just be limited to your rectum.

  • @maskedphrogg

While I appreciate your compliment of classifying my posts as entertaining. I actually said ridicule. Now since it's a fact that I said ridicule, I realize you won't believe it. But if you take off your shoes and count up 20 lines you can see for yourself.

  • yawn...

somebody should pull you outta the pan

    you're done now

  • Where is exNYinTX aka Triumph The Insult Comic Dog.

  • I'm here.

I'm not fluent in the insane language you rightards use, but your particular brand of crazy is in a class all it's own.

What bullshit are you going to dazzle me with this morning?

  • Triumph The Insult Comic Dog; The Latest Rasmussen Reports National Telephone Survey finds that 42% of likely voters favor President Obama's Health Care plan while 53% are opposed. These figures include just 20% who strongly favor the plan and 41% who are strongly opposed. BTW are watermelons good for your health.

  • @chaumont20

I must admit, you didn't disappoint. This bullshit is especially hardy. And the racial overtones are perfect.

But, I've already heard this particular bullshit before, it just came from a different asshole.

  • @exNYinTX " the racial overtones are perfect" for a Liberal - Progressive.

  • I knew you wouldn't let me down. There's the batshit crazy chaumont20 we all know and love.

This is the 3rd time your reply leaves me wondering WTF.

    No matter. chaumont20 FTW!

  • Dozens of letters are read aloud each day about people with HCare problems. What about those of that are now homeless because we lost our jobs and could no longer pay our mortgages/rent? 49 mill Americans go hungry every day. How many of the homelss could be fed with the money you burn with your AFOne taxi? What about our letters? We are not asking for gimicks, just jobs. We see a pres more interested in making history than helping Americans. What good is HC when many of us would rather die?

  • obama will be in st. Louis asking for public support for health care

BUT - the PUBLIC'S NOT ALLOWED - UNION SUPPORTERS ONLY

tell me more about this new open government

  • The Unions are not a boogeyman controlling Washington, (Those are corporations). Union is nothing but a collection of organize workers who have organized to fight for there interest. They have power in there numbers not wealth. In other words unions are the public.

  • degraves= dear dim drone dunce! IGNORING TEACHERS UNIONS being the formost succusbusses of the funds available in each State! Teachers Unions and their pensions? Are crushing the States and countries budgets! You idiot Union goobs like to pretend that your being a grifter wanting Odumba a to get SEIU into the entire Obama Crap Care Plan? Is NOW something to AVOID AT ALL CO$T$! ....ps. goob "degraves" THE PUBLIC has to keep paying the pensions of the Union members! Their "dues" never cover it all

  • @degraves2003 Actually you are full of shit...union members comprise less than 10% of the work force in the private sector...contrariwise,nearly half of all Americans own stock in domestic corporations...so essentially, corporations are the public, and the unions are the special interests that have influence with Barokeydoke far out of proportion to their actual membership rolls

  • Workers are not a "special interest" - they're intimately involved in the companies in which they work. They're not seeking undue privilege, they're seeking a fair shake in their jobs. The workers movement is responsible for the 40 hour work week, many safety laws, ends to child labour, and preventing all sorts of other abuses.

Owning stock in a corporation, particularly through a savings plan, doesn't really make them institutions of the people.

  • @gravedigger2003

That's not what Andy Stern the president of the Service Employees International Union said after contributing more than 67 million to this administration.

  • health care for veterans is a mess! fix that before you do anything.

the government isnt capable if taking care of our veterans health care, what makes you think they will do better with a bigger system?"

  • The system is not getting bigger despite claims. It is getting regulated, and I would agree must people would agree that health insurance which is so essential to peoples lives when in crisis should have standards so they won't get the short end of a stick when they get sick.

  • the point is the GOVERNMENT CANT TAKE CARE OF VETERANS, veteran health care is a mess.

lets see obama fix it before he takes over our health care system

  • @mkedean1 Let's see Barokeydoke's affirmative action baby mama do something about her own blubbery ghetto skank ass before she presumes to try to start a campaign against 'childhood obesity'

  • some of us are trying to spread the truth about obama, his czars and idiologs are trying to do to our country and our freedom. this action deserves more respect than you are using

  • @mkedean1

I still don't agree with your politics but I must admit this response surprised me.

  • Sure it can. Most veterans are quite happy with their health care.

  • Sure they are.

Because they don't need or use it.

  • you should listen to some veterans. the veteran health care system is a mess. many vets get no response at all - many have had their records destroyed. the VA is a mess and getting worse not better.

search: Why The VA Frustrates Veterans

the same folks will be ruining our health care.

  • I have listened to some veterans. They were happy. I've listened even more to Europeans, and seen their systems firsthand - for most people, nationalised healthcare works far better than what we have in the States.

Private health care is bad for the American people, and we should replace it. It's a pity that the Dems are too cowardly to actually get it done, and the Republicans are so actively against doing right for people.

  • @pgunn01 Yea, it sounds like you have listened more to europeans, its a pity they don't get to risk their lives defending our country, and then deal with the VA which is an absolute documented mess.

  • Except it's not. It works well for most people.

  • Healthcare reform was suppose to fix the problem of high cost care. Why cost have gone up dramatically. Insurance goes up because health cost go up. Yet these bills do nothing about why cost are so high and rising. Even if you shift premiums from insurance to gov (taxes), the high cost of care is still there. And more then likely to rise even more under this plan. That is why this bill is so bad and they have to lie cheat and steal (lying about whats in it and buying votes) to get it passed.

  • i agree, in fact - we don't have to guess, just look at any government program, all are unsustainable on their own and all over run cost estimates. government programs always get worse never better. they are bureaucratic money pits designed to reward a select few, and that does not include the working class or the dependents.

look at our veterans affairs, it is a shambles. go to any va hospital, and look around.

  • @pgunn01

I don't know if the dems are cowardly but they aren't capable of getting anything they talk about accomplished. that ought to tell you something about the difference between ideologist and workers. greed and power is on both sides but work ethic and practical experience can get something done. most of the leaders of your party have no work history, that accounts for their inability to get anything done and their lofty yet impractical philosophies that we workers have to support.

  • @mkedean1: I'm not a Democrat. I'm a socialist. "My party" hardly exists in the US, and where it does, it's run by crazy clowns that I'd be reluctant to vote for. *Our* problems are bigger than Dems.

I don't think the problem of the Dems isn't a lack of work history - that's simply inaccurate. It's that they have poor party discipline and represent too broad a swathe of separate philosophies.

It's not like Republicans have been about the interests of workers either - they're even worse.

  • @mkedean1: For what it's worth, I could give you a much longer earful about how I, as a socialist, am disappointed at how America's socialist parties are determined to stay obscure through boneheaded positions and poor management than I could about the Dems and Republicans failing to serve the people. Our leaders are bigger dysfunctional idiots than even Tea Party folk.

A socialist criticism of the WSWS is hardly interesting to most people though. I doubt there's even a million of us.

  • @pgunn01

thanks for saving me the eyeful, but thanks for the diverse view. that's what we are all about. but you might want to go help some of your socialist friends get a successful - then it might have some appeal. let me know when you get back,

    peace,

  • Specifically - what cuts are going to be made to MediCare/Caid to make up the call for the $500 billion reduction? Do you know, specifically, where the waste, fraud and abuses are in Medicare/Caid. Do you know how much the W/F&A will save each year? "..you can keep your health care...." but, yet, you are cutting Medicare Advantage. AARP gets Gov funds and offers a program similar to M Advantage - why aren't you cutting Gov funding from AARP as well?

  • LYING BY OMMISION & he always does his BIG ENDING? = Magical Liberal Math and insists we are under "threat"??? Only dangerous cults act like that! They always have a godless guru insisting (with dolls eye glare and no questions allowed EVER) ...that you "little sheeple" better listen to ME ME ME ! The most elite egoic goob ever! And do what I say! ....(and I just finished watchin Odumba promise a college filled with couch sitting grifter college dunce DIMS - cheer! - as Obama promised em $)

  • He is making crap up again, The Republicans told him that they would want to start over again so they could have a say at what goes into the bill. Transparency? They held several sessions where republicans wernt alowed to attend.

  • Bravo!

  • Comment removed

  • phrog, debunked? What is debunked about an opinion someone has that is different than yours? What makes you think that anyone on here is the debunking authority? I watched the CEO of Exxon being interviewed and stated he felt our pain at the pump. A man who reportedly makes $140 MILLION a year pumps his own gas. Hero to you, cheap bastard to me. That kind of money and he can't pay some poor smuck $45 THOUSAND a year to drive him around & pump his gas. You live in a land of glorious greed!

  • Hurrah - let's do it. I support Obama's plan in this.

  • A New Rasmussen Report National Telephone Survey finds that 44% favor this plan while 52% of U.S. voters oppose the plan proposed by the President and Congressional Democrats. Moreover, most U.S. voters would rather see Congress scrap the original plan and start over.

  • Health reform? Health CARE reform? Health INSURANCE reform? I can't believe people don't know the difference between them. Kick the insurance companies and they pass the costs to us. Health CARE in the U.S. is some of the best around, that's why people come from across the globe to practice, and be treated here. HEALTH is up to the individual. BO has no business poking his snout into it. What a steaming crock of horseshit this whole debate is. T. Roosevelt would kick this guys ass back to Kenya.

There's something you Obama supporters just don't understand. Obama has no real power, and he's as much a fascist as Bush was.

None of our presidents create and agenda. The agenda is created through oligarchies of banking and corporate powers who use media created demagogues to sell an agenda to useful idiots.

  • The more I deal with Insurance Companies the more I appreciate what Obama is doing. The Republicans only offer "buy across state lines". Buying across state lines will do nothing. The Insurance companies will just have a national convention instead of a state convention and set the premiums. Either way, they will rip us off. I say hold these thieving Insurance Companies accountable. I have to struggle to get a wheelchair while the President of my Insurance Company sits on his yacht.

  • If the Constitution doesn't grant Rights and Responsiblities then the very SOUL of this Nation does. This Nation is called the Great Experiment. And Experiment of people from all walks of life, national origin, race, creed, or color will work together for the benefit of the whole. Over the last 30 years that Experiment has been prostituted by the Wealthy in the quest for the Love of Money. The Experiment has turned evil. The war has been to destroy the Middle Class backbone of America.

  • Yes, we've become an Ogliarchy (elite, wealthy-ruled) with a population that thinks it's a Democracy (majority rules). When in fact we're meant to be an experimental Republic (which has nothing much to do with "Republican" I'm afraid.)

  • @harleymaster63

That would be a sight to behold for sure.

    E Pluribus Unum.

I still can't understand why the thought of us all working together for the good of the country makes too many scream communism or socialism or whatever the hell they're calling it this week.

  • So maskedfrog, you must live in the south. States rights, yea right. Where wealthy white kids get funds for marching bands, football fields, and basketball courts. And poor kids, black and white, get crumbling schools, over crowded classrooms, and a message of no hope. That fits right in with the seperate but equal attitudes that kept people in their designated place for years. You can't stand it that someone is saying the Wealth of this Nation belongs to All the people, not just the rich.

  • Reasonable guess. I'm an immigrant so to speak having crossed the border btwn IN and KY to make a long term home.

What's with all the mixed metaphors?

You either own a thing or you don't. The rich should be given no addtl privilege of new ownership simply because they own many things already.

By your reading Exxon has no claim to the oil they bring out of the ground and thus are oppressing you for the price of gas at the pump.

Simple fodder that is easily debunked.

  • Now before you comment, Mr. StandupforAmerica. You are the disease that is destroying America. You wrap yourself in a flag, arm yourself with an automatic weapon, and believe that anyone that hasn't been blessed with the same ability that you possess isn't worth your self-important notice. You speak with words you think are so wise and so patriotic. But you go against everything this country stands for and against. You are a true facist pig in every sense of the word. Why do you bother?

  • I fear what would happen if people such as him actually read in some detail the writings of Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, Paine, etc - or cared to comprehend what a "Republic" (as in Plato's Republic) is, and how this nation was conceived philosophically.

I find it hard not to take offense to people of his ilk, who seemingly want to arrogate the very cultural identity of America for themselves. We're not "unamerican' for having a different point of view.

  • Let me just say that I live in an area of the country where a 14 year old black young man could be beaten to death for supposedly whistling at a white woman. An area where men, women, and children were dragged from their beds in the middle of the night and hung from trees just because they were black. The people who did it went to church the next morning. They have exchanged their chains and rope for Economics. The hate is the same, the results are just as vindictive, and the suffering real!

  • So some people hate unions. Some people hire illegal aliens, some people love scabs, some people build buildings that fall down, and some people put in electrical wiring that kills our soldiers when they are suppose to be fighting a war. If you are a SCAB you are the lowest form of human being. And if you are Contractor that Hires SCABS then you are just that much lower. The actual Scum of the Earth. You will never be proud of anything you have ever done. Otherwise you wouldn't spew hate!

  • > Seriously -- does anyone care what this pinko has to say?

    > B O has never so much as run a lemonade stand

    > And now Americ is supposed to hand him 1/7 of the economy?

    > F U B O

  • I'd love to know what you think/thought about Bush's team. Supercaliforniaguy, Would love to read an essay by you, stating exactly the steps you would take to solve the economy, healthcare and all the other impossibilities in this country. I love how the democrats have backed off so much from the public option and such, and their still jamming some horrible (medicare robbing) plot through. You have a self serving logic. You know the country doesn't buy it, or the rest of the world.

  • Obama - we need to expand medicare. I have a pre-existing condition. I don't want to be forced to buy a product (insurance) from the private sector, merely for being born. I am not disabled in any way - however my insurance will always be expensive. If you give insurance companies any discretion, I will be fined, charged, and forced to pay as much as possible.

We need medicare for non-disabled people with congenital conditions.

  • I'll never understand why this isn't seen as a matter of civil rights. Since my condition is congenital, I have no choice but to see doctors. I have to buy insurance. However, nobody will insure me. No government agency exists to cover me. Everybody keeps passing the buck.

So, not for lack of trying I'm uninsured and being saddled with insurmountable bills. My business is stifled, because I no longer have appreciable credit.

We need coverage!!! PLEASE! When do I get any rights here?

  • I don't think people realize that the current system can have devastating effects on people with congenital conditions. Hospitals expect you ot pay a mortgage on your own body. It's bloody impoverishing.

  • I'm independent.

No, my credit line is stifled because of medical bills. The inflated costs of healthcare, which deny me insurance while charging me more than a house just to live and breathe.

The for-profit healthcare system is utterly unethical. It bears the capacity of impoverishing people like me, merely for being born with a health condition. I don't know why people defend it.

Systemic change has to occur. Subsidizing is not the way to go - we need systemic change, not regs & subsidy

  • Nonsense. I'm not asking that doctors not get paid (wtf?) . I'm highlighting a systemic problem. Other countries don't have this same issue, hainvg worked it out decades ago. Since people in terrible financial predicaments can't emigrate, I only have the option of waiting for change that gives me basic rights. I don't have any. I have no access to credit. I have to pay a mortgage on my body or file bankruptcy. What's ridiculous is people who don't care to understand the root of the problem.

  • And idiots who don't know what the word "congenital" means really shouldn't comment. I'm not asking for entitlement. I'm asking for a level playing ground. Equal rights. I can't help what I'm born with. Under the present system I am financially ransacked for having been born. Because I'm not "profitable" to anyone.

There are countless people in my position, with no rights, who are merely asking for the discrimination (shitty medical treatment by hospitals, loss of credit, bankruptcy) to stop.

  • Do you know what "communism" (by definition) is? I highly doubt anyone could rationally categorize Obama as such. He may be caving to the Oligarchy, yes- but communist he is not. Just because I happen to disagree with the Democrats' present healthcare course does not mean I might support the conservatives' point of view. Quite the contrary. I feel the Democrats aren't doing enough to solve the systemic problem. They're merely trying to patch a worn out, overly inflated system. We need more.

  • As an independent, what I see that is most alarming in the USA is this: a concerted effort from right-wing peoples to silence, dispute (emptily), and oust the opinions of academia, in the mind of the public. Such as precedes totalitarianism (who only ever get resistance from academics).

I fear the ogliarchy is avidly shilling to "conservatives," and the public in general, via the media, to protect their financial interests. Our worn down educational system isn't doing us any favors, either.

  • Well, if I had my way every young man and woman in this country who reaches the age of 18 would get the same letter I did when I was 18. Greeting, Your Government Needs YOU. We have nice rifle for you to carry and brass for you to polish. That way they would be covered under that government run health care called Tri Care and it might turn them into adults. But it only applies to the poor and middle class, the rich find loopholes out of service to their nation. Then they would have VA!

  • Maybe the reason private insurers denied coverage was because they kicked the people off their health insurance before they could be denied. Those figures leave that equation out. Of course, that is the easiest thing to do. Just leave certain people out of the equation. Just talk about Medicare, don't talk about Tri-care or Vets Benefits. And you can buy private health insurance after 65, it is called a secondary carrier. Many people have it to pay part of what Medicare doesn't cover.

  • PatricksTime, well genius, let's see. We have lost approx. 7 million good paying manufacturing jobs in the last 10 years. Those people paid taxes, including Medicare. Then there are the Bush Tax Cuts for the Rich. Many of those people don't pay Medicare taxes. Sort of a reversal of the We the People idea and more of We the Wealthy selfish idea. Then there is the Medicare Advantage which funnel billions to private insurance without an increase in care. Oh, and don't forget about Part D.

  • My sense is that Obama wants to spead insurance to millions of americans who (probably) wont need it.

He wants to include millions of young people who (probably) wont need health care and more people who will probably need healthcare.

I don't think he's doing this out of malice - he probably thinks that protecting people in their time of need is what insurance is for.

  • People cry wolf ,but at the end of the day they will see the light and eventually...when it's not to much ask, they will be thankfull for it.Go figure.

Wise wise words....Keep Up The Good Job Mr. President.Kudo's to You.

  • :Yea, yea, yea, I mispelled Unions and Proud. So my fingers move to fast when I type and my eyes didn't catch it. Deal with it. Knuckledragging morons!

  • Mr. President, in '08 I actively campaigned for you to be elected. I talked to people, put up signs, and wrote Letters to the Editor. In response to my letters I was threatened with tar and feathers and run out of town, a cross being burned in my yard, thrown in a septic tank, and tossed off a bridge they use to toss black people from into the '60's. Guess what, NO PUBLIC OPTION you can carry your own signs and get thrown off a bridge for all I care. See if your corporate donors will help.

  • harley

where do you live? (Please don't say East LA)

  • Marxist? The Marxist wanted a two class citizenship. The very Elite and the Working Class Proletariat. They hated Unoins. I am a UNION Man and Prould of it. The only one who hate unions are the Corporate Bosses and the underpaid morons who don't have enough spine to stand up to them. They are called Economic Slaves and will be the very first victims of the Economic War that is coming. They will fight and lose for the BOSS!

  • @harleymaster63 LMAO. I hire contractors and will hire NON-Unions for my contracts every day as long as I have the option. I will fly contractors in from the east coast just to not hire you winning sniffling over paid pieces of shit (travel and per diem still less than union). Unions had their day and were justified, but now all they are is the same as corporations they so despise. Unions suck and as someone that is empowered to make final contractor decisions youre blacklisted from my sites!

  • Insurance companies won't give a straight answer about why they keep raising premiums because a straight answer would be: "Because we want to take advantage of these people's misfortunes and milk them for all they're worth."

They are profit driven, after all.

  • For whatever reasons, Insurance/Healthcare community has broght this upon themselves. Americans can't afford their increases anymore. 80% of American families make less than $100K, so they need help. Who gives a shit what party fixes it....DO SOMETHING! Thanks!

  • Do at whatever cost is irresponsible. You're probably a teenager? Please read up the topic "cost-benefit analysis".

  • @SuperCaliforniaGuy....Well YOU'RE wrong! I'm 54 and an Accountant/Engineer. Depending on which pack of liars you believe, the costs are debatable. Doing nothing is unacceptable.

  • I am pig sick of Bipartanship!

  • The real costs are:

    (1) 10 years of taxes for 6 years of benefits.

    (2) Robbing Medicare and SocialSecurity to fund this healthcare bill.

    (3) First 10 years adds $500 billion to deficit. Second 10 years adds $1.5 trillion.

You read it right, 2nd 10 years adds $1.5T to the deficit. Obama's team has not yet responded to this criticism by Republican Senators. Majority of Americans do not want this bill passed, but Democrats will try to jam it through using reconcilation tactic.

    .

  • @ supercaliforniaguy: Exact talking points of Republicans.. but all wrong.

Health care is tied to your economy , just like education. Fail to invest and promote your economy will contract even further.

More American are on Emergency Room Health care then private insurance..what do you think will happen in 20 years. Your system is backwards, invest in preventive care and healthy living rather than PILL remedy culture and cronic care were physicians have no incentive to keep you healthy.

  • Notice LexuslSFi does not deny that points 1-3 are true, because they are true, can't argue these. So have to pursue other arguments that have no cost-benefit quantification.

  • Notice SuperCaliforniaguy,

Your logic goes against all economist.

All your points are wrong and have been proven wrong with actual facts.

This will Save the Economy.. Example. If your in a job that has great health coverage but can not change jobs because of it, then the economy's talent is restrained and therefore..grows at a much slower pace. So this goes against free market..it is a form of roadblock. When this is a non issue, Business , Individuals will be free.

  • The real Costs are: ( If nothing is done)

    1. Medicare and Medicaid go Bankrupt

    2. Middle Class will go Bankrupt, forced into Medicaid

    3. The U.S economy will be dependent on foreign assistance.

  • Both above comments are amateur conjectures with no quantitative support. They are like retards in the 1980s who said loosing mfg jobs is bad, when in fact it freed up resources for growth in the 1990s and 2000s. That is, above two comments are short-sighted and lacking reasonable arguments.

  • Congressional Budget Office differs from your simple logic. Today's economy is suffering. Mfg is gone, but no invest was made in education, btw most University in the U.S except the ivy league school actually teach..Prof are more interested or have more incentive/pressure to publish then teach. A colloge eduction ( in non-ivy league) is equivalent to high school. ( this is proven btw). The problems is there are too few educated for the serice economy in the U.S .

  • save us from the greedy folks? obama he has given more money to wall street than all presidents combined? he has interrupted the free market to resuscitate a failed business. failed through arrogance and greed - search: "Obama's Big Sellout" from rolling stone not fox - WAKE UP

  • that was GWB who gave the 700billion mkdean..rewriting history is a sad argument.

  • @ gjtek: He was elected by Amercans.. Funny how some think there way of thinking resembles those in other areas of the country. You say stay out of it ..so I guess you live in the woods off the grid.

Most Americans want progressive president who look to advance the country and actually do something. Rupublicans LOST the election and Americans voted for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @LexusISFi "Most Americans" NO no, most looters & moochers want a progressive President. Do you even understand why there are three branches of government? Or do you think one man has the right to dictate his will on all? Never mind your post already give me the answer.

  • You can do a little health care reform Obama. The fucking second you start implementing a socialist liberal wet dream agenda, you will be throwm out of office. I'm not European, and I don't want to be. Put that in your left wing diary.

  • Comment removed

  • Okay, Mr. President, I listened to your arguement. Now start listening to mine. I want the Public Option. I am tired of the Insurance Co. gambling on my health and always playing the House. The House never loses. People who make a living manipulating the stock market pay 15% income tax on millions they make. I pay 28% on a poverty level wage. This needs to change. Distribute the wealth of this nation so that everyone benefits. Decent days pay for a decent days work. Rebuild the middle!

  • piece of shit union

  • Marxist!

  • Known to have been ratified by lawmakers in twelve states, the last in 1812, this amendment contains no expiration date for ratification. It may yet be ratified.

  • And it is a Republic...A Democratic Republic. We practice Democracy as our form of government and Capitalism as our form of monetary commerce. But over the last 30 years of Reagan Voodoo Supply Side Trickle Down economics the very wealthy have received a more than 42% increase in their wealth while the wealth of the middle class back bone of the nation has lost ground. If this trend continues, there won't be a Republic, Democratic or otherwise. Keep your guns loaded!

  • You think the liberals are filled with hate. Where did you get that right wing spin? Because of the Liberals you have clean air, clean water, public schools, Veterans Benefits, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security. Thanks to the neo-cons we have massive debt, big government, and the transfer of the wealth of the nation into the hands of the already rich and greedy.

You need to turn off Druggy Limbaugh, Idiot Beck, and the Fox Entertainment News. You have been warped in your thinking.

  • I'll take the party of "no" over the party of "hate" every day of the week, thank you

    oh and btw liberals

    America is not a Democracy

    It's a Republic

  • Mr. President... YOU owe the American people a firm stance on the Public Option (as firm as it was in October 2008)... Imagine how this country would have turned out if the mandate on parents to educate their children was without a "public option". The current bill, without a Public Option is akin to allowing these Insurance giants to pull the trigger of the gun they already hold to our heads.

  • It doesn't make much sense to try to drive down health insurance costs by forcing health care companies to follow Obama's decrees. All his proposals increase the costs to insurance companies who will pass those costs to the customer.

  • You are totally right! If we force insurance companies not to kill us by denying coverage, they will make less money.

What's more important, that your child doesn't die if he gets cancer, or that the CEO of CIGNA gets to buy a summer home in the south of France?

Not even the most submissive of slaves would put the wealth of his master ahead of his own health. Why do you hate freedom so much, and why do you lick the hands of your corporate masters?

  • medicare has the highest denial number of all insurance providers.

the insurance companies average profit margin ranges from only 2-3%!

medicare and medicaid continue to cut reimbursements to doctors and hospitals...who do you think pays for these cuts? Costs are put on the insurance companies who have to raise the rates of their customers!!!

Blame medicare and medicaid for you high monthly premiums.

this will bankrupt an already bankrupt country and decrease the quality of care!!!!

  • "medicare has the highest denial number of all insurance providers."

    Right.....

So find me a senior who is willing to give up on medicare. Find me ONE.

If medicare recipients are treated unfairly, how come medicare is the most popular program in the history of the US?

Please, please, PLEASE. Find me one senior who has been denied coverage, or one who prefers finding insurance in the market at age 80.

    Please. Find me one.
