I can agree to "move on" but a message like this has to be repeated so that it never happens again.
And Chuck and PE delivered it with full voice LOUD. I aint black, but I sure can appreciate the way PE put it down. This song wasnt available for a minute on YOU Tube.
This song was awesome for its time, but I think its time to start growing up a bit and realizing that placing blame instead of uplifting oneself is playing yourself.
thanks for the reply, you have great taste in music, i take your in your late 20s early 30s. but wtf do you mean by "start growing up a bit" and im not placing the blame on anyone. and you as an indian what authority do have to speak on this paticular subject.
I'm not Indian, im African from Tanzania...I just happen to speak about 7 languages which allows me to listen to music from 'many cultures...this song, for its time, when it came out, was very political, it gave people who could say nothing a voice, so, for its time, it was very loud, very heard. However, today, its a different story, people have more, compared to the early nineties, people have come a distance, so growing up is a mindset, not you individually but look at the bigger picture.
I don't know if you know anything about history, however, under the white man in control of India for 150 years (under the guise of the East India Tea Company) they murdered over 1 million people per year, do the math, about 150 million Indians. More than both slavery, the Jewish holocaust and the massacre of Russian civilians by the Nazi's during World War 2. I think if there were to be an Indian who chimed in, his opinion would be just as merited as your own.
thanks for the reply again, there are many asian/indian east africans in kenya, uganda and tanzania. i am well aware of british colonial rule in india and have studied the history. i have to dispute your figures though(1 million a year?).
Message in your music back in the day. This music (Public Enemy, KRS-1, X-Clan ) made you think about your own history and the world around you. This music was deeper than the hip hop / rap they got today. Now a days they're just rhyming about partying , sex , money while displaying their own narcissism. Thats essentially it. Rap has become about as shallow as disco.....for now.
Hard to believe that rap actually had a message back in the day - nowadays, typical, can't spell 'crap' without 'rap'
