Great job for a first! She's getting really good! Don't ever give up, sweetie! Lots of love from one of her fans! God bless and keep up the good work! Ps; to all the haters!, she is WAYYY better than me and she is younger than me! I can't even skate without a wall, bar or someone to hold my hand! Good work! Xoxoxo, lots of love and bet wishes! Good luck!! :D
@SuperRussell15 Megan's from the USA (and is 2 1/2 years older than she was in this video), but what happened in Canada?
@panammanic What's the point of "marching"? Is it to help the kids not fall or something, keep a good balance/footing? I know they can't do jumps at that age, but you'd think that glides would be okay. Hmm...
@XdoomXkookieX That sucks. They should let you do more if you're a teen or adult skater. But I guess basics first before the more advanced stuff.
@stephe1987 The Snowplow Sam division is for very young beginners (< 5). The idea is to teach them how to get up on their skates and do basic stops and forward swizzles. Most of the kids at this level aren't steady enough on their skates yet for forward stroking and long glides - that comes a little bit later. US Figure Skating won't allow skaters to perform elements from a higher level - they are very strict about that in competition rules.
@stephe1987 The point of "marching" is to usually let the young children used to their skates before the gliding because it is harder for them to keep their balance.
I agree with some of the people she's a little young and not really skilled enough to be paying all that money for a dress and competition entrance. Plus it must be so hard to judge that level because they are all so cute and none of them can skate how could you chose the best one?
@webkinzlover2021 It's called "Marching" and it's a required skill at this level. She was actually capable of gliding at the time of this competition, but the rules called for "Marching."
@chloe2100 "Marching" is actually a required element at this level (USFSA Snowplow Sam, which is for ages 5 and under). Thanks for watching and commenting!
hate to be the one to say this but i wouldnt pay all that money on somone that cant skate well like the dress skates etc but it is realy cute but mabey hang on untill she is older till she does competitions :)
@TheSHANKLAC WELL...you have to start somewhere...i mean she is 3 and you have to start them young..yeah..i see what you mean, i mean she looks like she just learning to skate..i think competitions are better for like over 7 or 8 years old. 3 is just to young!
@Amigopole Thanks for the nice comment! Check back in a month for her latest competition program. Megan will be competing on May 14 - 15 and she has improved tremendously since her first one.
ahh shees soo good to say shes 3 im 12 and ive just leant to do a few things on the ice like skate backwards and forwards but tell that girl she is good and she should keep skating on n on
How can they let a little girl skate whitout helm?
Ske can't even stand at the ice. In the country i live we must have the 6th mark and go trugh many testes before we can compete and skate whitout helm.
@Avazette She did wear a helmet when she started skating. She first started taking skating lessons at age 2, so by the time this competition arrived she had one full year of skating experience and was very steady on her feet.
@Avazette where i live we don't have to wear a helmet at any time during the skating scheme, not even when we first start out, though we can if we want - not many people do
Too cute! And such a sparkly outfit for Snowplow Sam! My son is gearing up to his first USFSA Competition somewhere in the Basic levels, our coach told me to hold off on the Crystals in his shirt until "later." (Booo! I love sparkly things! I might sneak a few on anyway....)
@ponygirl99 Thanks! A lot of the Snowplow Sam kids out here wear pretty elaborate costumes - or at least the girls do. Megan's coach specifically requested rhinestones on her dress. Good luck to your son. Competitions are a lot of fun once you get started!
@SheriffLollipop In this video she was in Snowplow Sam. This year she's in USFSA Basic 4, competing at the Basic 3 level. Her next competition is in about 2 weeks. Stay tuned for a new video!
@SheriffLollipop Shop around. We have Junior Coaches at our rink who are less expensive. And it's a priority thing for you as well. Take a look at where you spend your money and see what you can nix in favor of Coaching.
She started at 2 years, 3 months. It was initially just something we tried for fun because we got a brochure in the mail for parent and me classes, but she loved it and we kept going.
