This demo is fantastic. I'm amazed somebody took the time to give a demo of this deck on You Tube. I've been collecting data on the ideal tuner for my new vehicle and was recently considering Alpine until I found this unit. The specs are off the charts on this deck! Hi, i wanted to know about the x-over part. concerning the subwoofer slope part is there more bass on -6 or -24? To me it seems like -6 through my front and rear speakers.
ok so i have this stereo in my car and all of a sudden it wont play my ipod anymore. it reads the song and displays the title on the screen but it doesnt play. nothing blinks on the stereo and im not sure what to do. any tips would be appreciated.
Sound is great, features at this price point are great. It looks good and is very readable.
To bad it's interface is pure garbage. Trying to change music folders is horrible. Nobody wants to press multiple buttons to change songs. Especially when they are driving down the road.
In the end I have to say it's the same old thing with Kenwood for as long as I can remember. They sound good, look good but have the worst interfaces out there. It makes all those nice features to difficult to get to.
170$ why didnt you use the KW20FB for an addition 20$ off so its only 150$ after sending them a best price guarantee from electronic warehouse for 160$ then adding the code the receiver cost me 140$!!!! guess you too, got ripped off!
@kikomonsta13 come with a warranty? kenwood won't honor the warranty unless it comes from a licensed dealer. might be why it was cheap idk im just saying tho.

Great video Pclay43! I watched it some days ago and it really make me decide for this new kenwood series.I just bought it some hours ago.The deck has a beautiful shiny finish,the remote seems very funtional.However, what I missed is the old black plastic case that protected the deck from ocasional falls.It also comes with a very complete user guide in a CD,for all you that still have many questions about the functionability of it.Can't wait till It get installed with my new amp and woofer!:)
That's a bit strange. Can you try re-syncing the iPod with iTunes. I remember I used MediaMonkey before and X794 could not load any playlist/artists/songs. Then I did a clean format on the iPod, re-synced my music files using iTunes and that worked as a charm. No problems whatsoever!

No not the 794 it just goes from black on white to white on black. You can adjust contrast. Its great the way it is, but if you want multiple colors buy the X994
i bought the x794 my musis the sound gose up and down like wear you only hear the base of the song then it gose back to normal would it be drawling to much power?
I have the 994 and has a bug. Sometimes it freezes and wont change tracks, basically won´t let you do anything and you have to remove the faceplate and press the reset button which is a pain because you have to reconfigure EVERYTHING!! Has happened twice already and can't figure out why. Other than that I love this deck and bluetooth lets me chat with my girl while driving plus you can choose from many colors and match them with your dash.
worth buying i got a jvc i got a 96 camaro with pioneer speakers in back dual in front getting pioneer premier i got 2 12" kickers and 600w kenwood amp it kicks now but worth buying this stero?
I think its worth it. If your into sound quality. You like to listen to the music then Yes....If you just want the Subs to rattle the windows then the deck doesn't really matter. Its one of the best decks I've had since the 80s and for the price its a no brainer.....
Anyone use the kdc-mp745u (non eXcelon version)? The pictures make it look like it has a matte finish. Is that true? I would prefer that to the glossy finish the eXcelon has.
maybe i missed it, but this deck still has the am/fm right? im lost on how you get to the radio.. any help would be appreciated. and do you think this unit would be noticeably better than the MP545U (non-excelon)?
@pclay43 that doesn't sound too hard then. Hopefully this h/u isn't too hard to figure out, especially since i just bought it. It's gonna be installed tomorrow..along with the top level eXcelon speakers. I hope it sounds good!
@trixr4kidsdawg Well I took out an Alpine CDA-9884 and put this one in. Now the 9887 has the BB decoder, but I will say this. The Alpine doesn't come close to the new Excelon

hey thanks for the great vid! I ordered this deck a week ago and will have it installed when it arrives hopefully soon. Question, does this unit come with a usb cable and a aux cable? If no, does it require a special kind of usb and aux cable such as a Y-shape/style rca cable? thanks again for the vid!
Also, I'm replacing an existing Kenwood excelon that was installed about ten years ago. How difficult of an install am I looking at? Common sense would seem that I could just replug everything, but seldom is stuff so plug and play with consumer electronics.
Also, where is the USB inserted? Specs say back, but I don't see where it leads in this vid. Other than not showing where that wire leads, this is an excellent video.
I just installed this same radio in my car. I was split between this and the Pioneer DEH-P4200UB. After seeing your vids I was convinced. This radio is AWESOME. I have been using stock speakers in a 90's oldsmobile running off deck power and this unit took the cars audio quality from a 0 out of 10 to a solid 4. My last car had a JVC hu along with some 5x7 pioneer premier speakers...the x794 and stock speakers in this car is better!
I have an amp, speakers, and sub to install yet...cant wait!
The crossover's apply to the speaker line outputs not just the RCAs so its easy to maximize what you can get from the stock speakers. Just so you know though, the internal amplification on this unit is very good. I really like how you can set the auto dimmer so it goes from white with black text to black with white text for nighttime.
Question for you pclay43....did you hook up the auto dimmer on yours
@schinner16 yes I did turn on the auto dimmer, which is subtle. I love the deck. Now some of the decks and even the x994 let you get into multiple colors, which is nice if you want to match everything to your car, but I find the black and white to be just find and having the ability to switch the contrast should satisfy anyone. No Decks display will please everyone, but these new excelons are pretty damn close on getting the things most people want
If you mean the actual number it goes to I'm not sure. If you look at my first video when I turn the volume up and down you can see the number slides to the right as you go up and to the left as you go down. 25 seems to be in the center so probably 50

Well you have it right. Bluetooth and the display is a different color, but other than that they are the same deck. I didn't need bluetooth so there was no need for me to spend an extra $70, but if you need it then I say get it
When playing off of a USB then wanting to search the USB drive, does it always start at the begining (ie: letter A first then B, etc..). Or does it resume where you last used it? Not sure if I explained the very well. Example: if I'm playing Pink Floyd off of the USB and I want to search for Van Halen. Does the search start at letter A or can I resume searching from P (Pink Floyd)? I have a 16G flash drive with quite a bit of music on it. Thanks.

Hi Pclay -- I need to weigh in on this deck -- had mine a week and am having a lot of fun with it! You're taking care of all the technical features, so I'll just agree with your enthusiasm. I did upload a little video demonstrating the auxiliary input, connecting one of my portable shortwave radios to the 794. Very nifty, two thumbs WAY up on this thing!

@trixr4kidsdawg Well I took out an Alpine CDA-9884 and put this one in. Now the 9887 has the BB decoder, but I will say this. The Alpine doesn't come close to the new Excelon

On this unit, can you invert the white/black of the screen? all that white would get so bright at night.
