Eddie and Buddy Holly were pretty innovative when it came to experimenting with overdubbing. It was just coming into it's day thanks to Les Paul and Mary Ford introducing it. Buddy and Eddie really worked with overdubbing to get the echo out of it and make it sound more smooth so one couldn't the parts were overdubbed.
