I'm not normally one for rap, but I respect this song so much. More amazing is that it was written at a time when rap was mostly incredibly terrible-- the 90s.

seriously this song has nothing to do with Germany or the actual war between the US and Japan. Its about the injustice brought upon the Japanese. The main focus is on what happened to the Japanese living in the US during the time of WWII and how we continue to treat people the same way. To me, it is making a connection between the way we treated the Japanese during WWII and the way we treated people from the Middle East after 9/11

In the Executive Order, there was no particular race yet Japanese were the one's singled out. I have yet to hear that Japanese-Americans (Plantation Work Families, if anything) giving Japan any information. But that doesn't mean all were. My great-grandparents weren't Japanese but Okinawan. Did nothing and they too were put into internment camps on the mainland. It's quite sad but thankfully unlike the Nazi's, they didn't kill Japanese.
The American government didnt have much of a choice. The Japanese were treated fairly well. This was the only foreseeable solution. ALTHOUGH... the day before pearl harbor, some important ships or whatever (that were sitting there for years) were moved from port. I think the government did that so they could join the war.
I think what they(US government) did was a precaution to prevent a repeat of Pearl Harbor. Most of the japs living in the vicinity of pearl had actually aided the Japanese military by relaying in vital information such as the weather over the harbor, number of ships docked in it, and troop movements. In my idea, Internment camps were the only logical solution.You can't blame the US government for that, it was only trying to protect it's own citizens.
I watched this video (not this particular one) in history class it's a really sad song and I agree with this song that this part in the US history is a dark time.
What Mike means by saying "Japs" is not to be in an offensive way. He is saying it how the Americans used to refer a Japanese at the time. He's not using it like a rapper would use the N word in ant song. The word "Japs" has a historical background here and therefore he would only use it in this song. He doesn't say that in any other song or in real life.

seriously this song has nothing to do with Germany or the actual war between the US and Japan. Its about the injustice brought upon the Japanese. The main focus is on what happened to the Japanese living in the US during the time of WWII and how we continue to treat people the same way. To me, it is making a connection between the way we treated the Japanese during WWII and the way we treated people from the Middle East after 9/11

In the Executive Order, there was no particular race yet Japanese were the one's singled out. I have yet to hear that Japanese-Americans (Plantation Work Families, if anything) giving Japan any information. But that doesn't mean all were. My great-grandparents weren't Japanese but Okinawan. Did nothing and they too were put into internment camps on the mainland. It's quite sad but thankfully unlike the Nazi's, they didn't kill Japanese.

The American government didnt have much of a choice. The Japanese were treated fairly well. This was the only foreseeable solution. ALTHOUGH... the day before pearl harbor, some important ships or whatever (that were sitting there for years) were moved from port. I think the government did that so they could join the war.

I think what they(US government) did was a precaution to prevent a repeat of Pearl Harbor. Most of the japs living in the vicinity of pearl had actually aided the Japanese military by relaying in vital information such as the weather over the harbor, number of ships docked in it, and troop movements. In my idea, Internment camps were the only logical solution.You can't blame the US government for that, it was only trying to protect it's own citizens.

What Mike means by saying "Japs" is not to be in an offensive way. He is saying it how the Americans used to refer a Japanese at the time. He's not using it like a rapper would use the N word in ant song. The word "Japs" has a historical background here and therefore he would only use it in this song. He doesn't say that in any other song or in real life.

The Germans were already defeated and the last thing to pick up was Japan, the first nuke ended the war, and the second one only came because the Japanese neglected to surrender immediantly after the first one. Good men did die on December 7th, but that things spiraled somewhat out of control
