  • Ian Barry is has reached the top of my heroes list. Not because of his recreational drug use, but for his bold display of belief. He has the age, personality, and intelligence we (as pro-medicinal) need to lead the legalization movement in America for the coming generation.

  • YOU ARE A TRUE SOLDIER FOR OUR MOVEMENT IAN

  • HELL YES

  • this kid has long ass dreads now and hung out in the woods next to the school. he is really smart too

  • @NegativeCreep121 Dreads aren't stonerish. They're just the natural way hair grows.

  • @rfl133 what do mean its the natural way hair grows? I never do anything to my hair and i dont have dreadlocks lol...maybe I'm missing the point or something?

  • @BoredomPie do you brush your hair? do you use soap with residue? those are the only things that will stop dreadlocks from forming naturally. Like mine.

  • I hit a bowl during second period math today, blew the hit out the window, teacher never noticed although half the class sure did.

  • We are just like you sober people.. Just more happy and creative.. ;)

  • man he got some huge balls to that shit

  • you know this kid got laid like crazy after this LMAO

  • best speech ever lmao obama is a hypocrite lol his inauguration speech should of started like this lol

  • I believe what this guy is saying its more of a risk perception and he doesn't want stoner to be used negatively because of its use for him in the past.

  • So you can FEEL the ink, man. Feel it directly from the man's SOUL.

  • I have the original copy of his speech (as well as his rough draft and all of the edits that went into creating the final copy). I'm willing to sell it to anybody who wants it (at a price, however).

  • Psh, how would you have gotten it?

  • ur fucking redtarded who would want that shit

  • I am ultimately from the school of thought that believes that words only mean what their common, intended use is. The 30's definition meant a drunk person. Nobody associated alcohol with "stoned" nowadays though, so that definition is irrelevant. If someone tells me, "hey mean, I wanna smoke with you and every cool stoner of your kind", I'm not gonna get pissy at them. I'm just gonna be happy at the compliment. Now if someone yells, "Hey you fucking stoner. Get a job", that's a fight.

  • smoke weed 4 life

  • I think his message is legit I just personally think he looks like a douche. Just like a black dude with gold teeth and a tee way too big I think both couldn't be taken seriously.

  • I think weed should be legal and I love weed. but im sorry this kid has balls and all but in the picture I saw he looks like a complete douchebag..Hes got dreads, wheres a bandanna and a tydye shirt. Douche bags like him make normal people who smoke look ridiculous. who could ever take someone dressed like that seriously?

  • this kid goes to my school. that was some good shit!

    PHS!

  • suck my dick. this kid has balls and none of you would ever do this. i was there and he did inhale fag

  • except he dresses like a loser and makes stoners look bad.

  • The term "stoners" to describe smokers makes you look bad. That is a way to describe lazy people who get high all day. Not necessarily just pot !

STONER was not a word that was ment to "LOOK GOOD" as you imply.

Fact is you make smokers look bad!

Taking care of dreads is harder than shaving your head.

Making a shirt with a design is harder than buying a nike shirt.

I didn't think people could be so nieve.

  • Stoners means someone who enjoys weed..thats it. If you think stoner is a bad term your what would you call it? A pussy!. and btw dreads are retarded and he does look like a loser. His message was fine and people can dress how they want I just think he looks like a douche who I personally wouldnt wanna hang out with..unless he gets fire ass weed lol.

  • ston·er (stō'nər)

    n.

    1: One that stones.

2: Slang a: One who is habitually intoxicated by alcohol or drugs. b: One who is a delinquent or failure.

this is the common belief of what "stoner" means. it doesn't matter what you think it means. what matters is what the WORLD thinks it means. understand?

  • yeah and the WORLD thinks a douche bag white kid with dreads and a tyedye shirt is a loser. UNDERSTAND? and im a stoner and if you are ashamed of being one and you are one, go fuck yourself.

  • No, actually he shows that stoners can be quite brave, brilliant, and smart people.

  • stop using stoner to describe cannabis users please! the word cant have two meanings that contradict each other. a word cant mean 1: Brave, Brilliant and smart. and mean 2: Delinquent or failure. Its imposible for a word to mean two exact opposite things!! Do you understand that stoner only means failure. He is a pot smoker or a Cannabis user not a stoner/failure!

Calling yourself a stoner is perfectly fine but dont call This guy in the video a failure.

  • Fo shizzle. He proves a cannabis enthusiast can be smart and brave. How's that? To me, and a lot of people, stoner just means a smoker of cannabis sativa. Words change over time and only carry the meaning and intent people ascribe to them. Its sort of like the word gay in some respects. Yah, the guy's definitely not a loser, but don't call me a failure or loser either. That wasn't the intent I had behind that statement. That guy no doubt kicks ass, but you need to learn some manners. lol

  • Using the word stoner is wordplay that harms herb users. just like harsh interrogation techniques as opposed to torture. It makes a difference how things are said. one can be legal and the other not. even if you consider them the same thing.

  • The culture at large are the people who define the meanings of words, not some grammar professor who writes a biased definition in Websters or wherever you got that definition from. The real history goes back to slang from the 40's and 50's. In an interview with George Carlin, he mentioned that he was a "stonehead" since the age of 12. Stonehead later morphed into stoner. Now if George Carlin called himself a stonehead, stoner is not only not a bad label but a title one must earn.

  • What the fuck are you talking about? All words are used in implication, he is referring to stoners as being a pot smoker, or a "cannabis user"... which could reflect that they all mean the same thing. It's like black people calling their friends niggaz, its a slang, nothing more.

  • We are in serious trouble, cause this is all it takes to be a hero. No-one has any balls.

  • i heard about this but i wish there was a better camera shot.

GO young cannabis warrior; fighter of misinformation, racism, and propaganda!! One day the battle shall be won

  • FREE BARRY!

  • Epicful recording fail.

  • cant wait for motivational picture of this video

    "epicful recording fail"hehehehe

  • Fuck. Yeah.

  • dude is a freaking badass!

  • You get an F.

Talk about epic failure of video recording.

  • holland is doing good..but they are responsable smokers!

  • what's your point?

the only thing I see wrong with smoking in front of a diverse crowd is that some will become offended, just as if someone were to smoke a cigarette (sp?) or drink in front of a diverse crowd.

  • Ever heard of civil disobedience? It freed India.

  • Amen! Amazing! It's powerful that a "minor" did this.

  • i wonder what will happen if they eventually legalize it. I wonder if America can deal with it. It's not some kind of holy medicine, it can cause a lot of problems too.

  • Like what?

  • with chemotherapy it helps against nausea and arthritis and there's more

  • the pathetic part is applicable, but the claim that I'm corrupt? wtf? who exactly am I controlled by? sometimes in the shower I look down at my penise and think "pathetic" but never before have I called myself corrupt.

  • hahaha suck bawls yyadamyy

  • Except from the smoke coming from his hand, the odd laughing and cheering, oh yeah, and the police report, can't forget that.

  • Check out "Lesbian Love Song" It's like the Pox..Real Catchy

  • I would much rather smoke a nice juicy cock.

  • Why do you stupid idiots need to do drugs?

  • Why do stupid idiots need to ask stupid questions/

  • Pot is not a drug, it's a plant.

  • You aren't doing much to disprove the "dumb pothead" stereotype are you?

Any substance that alters how you body functions is a drug. Food is technically a drug.

  • I never claimed i was trying to disprove anything. I was trying to make a point. I believe people have been misled and have an unrealistic view on the dangers of pot. They think of pot like it's as dangerous as cocaine, heroin, and ecstasy. Or even alcohol and tobacco. When really, it's just a simple plant that has some euphoric effects when burned and inhaled. The effects of which aren't even debilitating enough to matter, compared to alcohol or other drugs.

  • cocaine too

  • Simple, illness is one reason. Others choose from many other reasons; creativity, relaxation, headaches, nausea, energy (sativa produces an energetic high compared to caffeine), and many others. Others do it for the feeling, just like runners for the "runner's high", or body builders for the feeling of the "pump" or an adrenaline junkie. The hormones that these individuals seek is measured by parts per trillion, and if these hormones are off by 1 ppt then they can be detrimental.

  • damn

  • Food for thought, my other post talked about being established in life. The reason for that is society will not take you serious when you make a stand if you are "underage" or do not "contribute" to society. You'll look more believing if you pay taxes, hold a job, and have a purpose.

Also, to the nay sayers like GLeNss, religion (cults), have killed more people then any drugs in the history of mankind. How many have died in the name of God? How many died from mj? Think with head not heart.

  • There are pros and cons to this act of protest that work for and against the cause to get mj legalized. I feel it would be better stated by an adult with a job and a standing in society. My self, I made $80,000 last year and was smoking daily. I own a home, pay my taxes, and have raised my family. I just made it a point to be a honest person in life and never was blatent about my smoking.

With that said, I give kudos to Ian but also a thumbs down. How can he get a job with his openess?

  • you gotta have balls man, I openly wear clothing that displays pro cannabis slogans and symbols. We have to be more open as smokers, so people realize how many people use cannabis. It wont be such a big deal. Gay people are doing the same thing right now, trying to show that they are normal, that the stereotypes are bullshit, and that they deserve to be treated equally. I salute this young man.

  • anything that'll make society fall quicker

sometimes you need to tear down the building to build a new one

  • legendary!

  • ok i'm for legalization, but an underage kid smoking is a case that opponents will not hesitate to use AGAINST us...

on a more personal note, WTFG BARRY!!!

  • like bill hicks said marijuana is nature......how can u make nature against the law? seems paranoid allright ...lol god made a mistake did he? haha

  • What a fool, not old enough yet to witness close friends completely ruined by their addiction.

  • Well said! he's just a kid. Grow up get a job and see if you can hold onto it when you are stoned and unmotivated. I'm not totally against it but ppl that use it everyday need to get a life... and a job.

  • Your a fool.

How can you make a generalized statement like that and say people who smoke dont have jobs?

    dumb cunt

  • Really? I smoke on a regular basis, hold onto a job for more than three years, pay my bills, drive interstate high without a ticket...are you kidding???

There are thousands of smokers from different ethnicity, social status, religious background and so on that are responsible users of Marijuana.

  • What an ignorant statement. MANY successful people have smoked and/or still smoke. Once again propaganda that has been force fed to citizens of our country. I smoked through college, graduated, and have been in my career for more than 3 years. I also spend some of my free time volunteering. So if you are lazy, cannabis isnt going to make you lazy. It is a character flaw of that individual.

  • I'm sorry but I smoke everyday I have a job, I pay taxes, I pay rent, the job is fun and interesting, and I manage my time well.

You need to get a life.

  • There are millions of us out there so why don't we make this shit legal already!

  • do you drive madcats? How is this done whilst under the influence of satan?

  • lolwut.

Get out of here with your christanity shit, we don't need that here.

I personally, as a 13 year old, think this kid is a fucking hero for doing this. I honestly don't know who thinks he isn't, because if this doesn't get Marijuana legalized., then I don't know what will.

  • I wish the internet had a sarcasm button where the text would appear in a certain way to inform you and others, that it is indeed sarcasm sir.

  • Well done Ian. The only way to legalisation is education. People should ask, "Why is this plant illegal ?"...or .... "What are the benefits ?".... or ..... "What is the downside ?"

People should seek answers to such questions.

I would suggest a good place to start is Jack Herer's book, "The emperor wears no clothes."

  • good on him! wish i had thought of that lol

  • Atta boy! Hope someone takes notice! We need more guys like you bro, love your work

  • niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicceee

  • i could not believe he did that. nice job kid.

  • Ohhh dumbass. Did he not think he was gonna get in trouble?

  • no shit, its called martyrdrom you fuckin idiot

  • Way to butcher the spelling of "martyrdom". Damn.

  • Wow! A 17 year old with some serious balls!

That is what this world needs.

    More balls.

  • If you got a big tree,I got a small axe ,ready to cut you down-Bob Marley

    Big up ,Good Man

  • much respect mate ! pot smokers around the world salute you !

    -from australia

  • His +3 versus your -3 begs to differ.

  • on the contrary, everyone hates YOU

  • what this kid did will do nothing to help legalize weed, your all as stupid as him for congratulating him on a meaningless stunt. while the kid has balls, i wouldnt be surprised if this ended up being negative towards the legalization argument.

  • Many civilians have taken a stance against laws that they believe are intrusive or wrong. There is the underground railroad, Parks sitting in the front of the bus and many other stands that changed laws/history. In news articles he clearly states that he knew what he was doing. Instead of the majority of society bitching and complaining about what they dont like, Ian takes a stand for what he believes in. I tip my hat and extend an applause to this bright young teenager for doing what most won't

  • maybe, but if what he does is going to do nothing for the legalization argument. which i think it will. then it makes the action self-serving and only useful in helping his ego. anyone who thinks he is more than that is a douche

  • I disagree with you saying that it does nothing for legalization. It has already brought up attention and controversy. Most against legalization are b/c of fear and propaganda. The public needs to know the truth. Not everyone standing up for what they believe is right, is looking for an ego boost.

  • Look at Phelps. He smoked, some douche decides to make it public, and Phelps tucks his tail between his legs and runs away. Phelps could have helped out the cause by using his athletic ability and stature to move along the movement, but that didn't happen. So we have Ian who knows the consequences and makes a stand. The more the public makes it known that we disapprove the criminalization of cannabis, the more we can change it. If you smoke, these laws affect you, stand up for your rights!

  • BOB MARLEY AW YEAH

  • He says he's planning on attending Humboldt State University - I think HSU is perfect for him, and it's in my neighborhood.

  • "one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws".

    - Martin Luther King

  • What we need are...high cops and dea agents.

  • Stand up for what you believe in and always stand up against unjust laws!

  • wish i had been there

I live like 2 miles from peninsula high school
