  • Obama says Americans need to learn Spanish, & he’s embarrassed for us. I for one could care less what Obama thinks; I’m doing perfectly well speaking English. I’m getting tired of some guy coming into office looking down his nose at me. Ill learn Spanish when you do Obama, hows that? How do U say, “I wanna cut his nuts off” in Spanish? The spell check says all my English words R spelled properly, except Barack & Obama, R these some of them foreign words he wants me to learn?

  • hey wanna practice English then add me on skype, my id is shakeelpacc

  • Creep.

  • i really agree with you Joe. Thanks. I mean, non-native english speakers could learn a hell lot of words.. even memorized the dictionary but often would be render speechless when speaking with a native -english speaker because of intonation and rhythm.

  • Que en Español equivale a la expresión: "Al que madruga, Dios le ayuda". Very nice video!

  • Keep making these such videos please, I want to learn them all day!!!!

  • @MAD9711

Then you will learn one more sentence, then one more after that. Eventually you can start learning whole stories, until one day, you will speak English almost as well as your first language. Start by taking one step at a time.

  • Shoot down the early bird and thats how I get the worm.

  • This is a bad way to learn English stay clear of this video, you have a bad accent for this. For the word "Early" you are saying "RRRleee" you expect foreign people to say this ? they will sound stupid !

  • i have a question.... could i speak english without the hispanic accent? =D

  • Comment removed

  • the early birds get the mouse but the worm get the second cheese

  • rofl. the second mouse gets the cheese. That is really clever. I'm not kidding.

  • super, thanks :D

  • hahahaha....i just realized by this video, that we have a lot of sayings that make no sense to other country's

  • yep of course. I wasn't born speaking it cuz english is not my first language LOL! And yeah everytime i talk ,although im fluent already but you could still tell that theres something odd about the way i speak. Sometimes my filipino accent comes out LOL!

  • Not to be a pain in the arse or something, but you can't learn English from such a short video. No offence. But I think it might work better, if you make the video slightly longer, with subtitles everwhere. In that case people can read alond and it is easier to repeat it. I like the fact that you used a less used sentence =]!

    Kind regards,

    CVB

  • Thanks for your comment. This video is made for students such as those I currently teach in China who may study English for six years without ever saying more than a few words. They've already learned thousands of words so this is the next step. After sentences, they can try texts such as my jokes here on You Tube. After that, they can try the BBC or other "authentic" texts made for native English speakers. So, this video is just one step in the whole process.

  • @ If I wanted to learn another language... what would be a fun one to try? I mean for practicality purposes alone I'm not sure which ones I'll ever use as a necessity in my life, but I hear spanish is best and most poetic and beautiful. Now, i'm irish my decent to gealic would be kool, but I think it would be rad to walk all up into a sushi joint and order in japanese. What would you suggest? Any enlightenment for you're wisdom would be greatly appreciated :P

  • @teacherjoedeveto Ahhh though im American this type of teaching method could be implemented on foreign exchange students. I like your form of teaching. :) good job!

  • @LOVEAUxXxME

Pain in the arse you're hillarios... hahaha... ^^

  • I've wached this video the day before yesterday, today I went to my work very early, when our secretary came she told me "the early bird gets the fish" i told her no it's the worm not the fish hahahaha

but I was very happy because I knew what she is talking about :D

  • ...An other thing I forgot to say in the last comment: Does anyone know if having braces in the past has any effects on your language? Pleas respond.

  • I'm an immigrant and live in Denmark, and I've always wanted to have american accent all my life. I'm still learning, trying and fighting, but G*d damn it's hard. Would be awesome whit some surport guys ; )

I'm soon going for 'the big test', whish me luck. : )

  • lol it s very hard but with more trying be very easy so try more n more to teach ..

  • hahaha im soooo happy i grew up in the states otherwise id probably be like wtf

  • thank you very much! ^ ^

  • I am an immigrant here in Canada but yet I am fluent in english.. I guess this is helpful too.. I am fluent in english even if I had nobody to talk too but its really weird coz when I get here in Canada and I started talking to english people I just feel like I'm speaking my own language and its just weird how I learn how to speak and pronounce it.. maybe from the movies its a helpful thing too.. listen to english movies.. thats why I have american accent! ^^ by the way im a filipino.. :P

  • @juliexxx14 But you have a Filipino accent though, right? Because when I went to the Philippines last year, their accent in general is much different from Canadian and American accent. Even though they were colonized by Americans. My mom came to the US when she was 17 and even though she speaks it "fluently", she still has this Filipino accent. Many "FOBs" speak English real good but still has the Filipino accent.

  • @juliexxx14 wow, good.. i wanna learn to speak english fluently too. I can speak english but not so fluent...I guess the problem is when I talk to someone in english I get so nervous, like for example, talking to my american classmate...and btw I am a Filipino too. And I plan on going to Canada someday :)

  • @sparklingangel17 lool i get all nervous too when talking to white people and I still can't explain some detailed things in english but i guess you'll know it as u grow up loool. But i think what really helps u when speaking english is to never translate words for words, and don't be curious and like think too much about what you're gonna say cuz sometimes ur english comes out smoothly when u don't pay much attention to the grammar and like the pronunciation. Awee.. thats cool! Good Luck! :D

  • thaaaaaanks but my problems is that i don't have anybody to talk english with , so i almost forgot what i've learned coz i don't practice -the second thing is that i don't keep speaking with one accent which means sometimes i talk in american and sometime in British, so what do U think about this ?

  • I'd pick an accent and stick to it.

  • You can learn to speak many accents if you want. Actors can do that. ;)

  • Touche' , I completey understand where you are coming from and what your doing is a very commemorable thing to do. Teaching people english is a very unselfish thing to spend your time on, but you could have a scenario where you have two people talking face to face because the highs and lows of sounds may be in important but body language is what we Americans really thrive on.

  • I understand teacherjoe where your comming from, but we have some foreign exchange student that aren't comfortable talking in english because they think we'll make fun of them so its nice to let them know that just because they dont speak in perfect pronunciating english that we can understand them ^.^

  • You bring up a good point. Being absolutely perfect does not matter. Getting enough practice so that you can be understandable does matter. My current students in China, as well as millions of students of English around the world, often get less practice in a year than foreign exchange students can get in a day. My videos are really directed at those students who NEVER have the chance to practice English out loud and may not yet be able to say a single sentence in English.

  • thanks NefariouslyAwesome & Joe

i had this problem before, then i recently realized that my problem was the English rhythm, and i'm now working at it.

surprisingly, people now understand me better than before!

  • hey anytime ^.^ but I just commented, the thanks goes all to teacher joe, Im just good at debate

  • Hey Im american and I say all of ya'll are doing an amazing job^.^ and no it doesn't matter about the rising and lowering of sounds, you'd sound sound extremely weird. Hmmm maybe I should send in a voice recording

  • Sorry NA but it DOES matter! If one of my students met you and called you Knee-Fare-Ee-Ss-Lee Awe-Some From Gee Or Gee Ah, without normal English stress, wouldn't you find THAT strange? That is how many students around the world try to pronounce English.

  • thanks a lot

  • I am a Filipino but I am trained English when I was young.

I said it fluently just after the video ended.

  • Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

    Respect

  • Nice one, but keep on forgetting the words. And I can't follow how you say that, I mean high and low, and so fast, get it? I really want to improve English to the best, and change my life to be an American.

  • You know english people don't say that phrase exactly how he says it going up and down all the time, we just say it how it comes out lol don't worry

  • I keep saying "The early bird gets the second mouse" ;)

  • ...but the cheese is full of worms?

  • i did it ... but after i watched this video 5 times ^_^"

    ALLAH bless you

  • AMAZING!

    XD

  • the early bird gets the worm ,but the second mouse gets the cheese! hehehe

  • the early bird gets the worm ,but the second mouse gets the cheese. and the 4623th viewer did it!:P

  • i did it also.

Sir thank you very much to upload this video, i understand half english language and i cannot speak better. can you give me some advice? how to speak better english language?

    Thank you and God Bless.

  • To speak better english, you must dedicate yourself to studying! practice practice! a common english saying: Practice makes Perfect!

  • wow, is learning english that hard. I never realized that.

  • Learning any language is hard if you didn't grow up with it. I studied French for many years yet I cannot say that sentence in French. For that, I would need the help of a good teacher!

  • i did it and im russian

  • i did it

  • Poor first mouse... That's funy

  • interesting~

  • good job
