The announcers were way too harsh on their judgement of this fight. The announcers (especially Larry) expect every fight to be a knockdown, drag-out brawl all the time with both fighters on the brink of death and overlook the beauty of what they were watching.This was a terrific matchup of Roy's speed & accuracy vs the technical prowess of Hopkins. This was a fascinating fight to watch......especially in hindsight.

Thats true of course. My english is not that great, to me it just sounded like he wanted to say Jones could not even reach Sugar in any period of Jones career, while i think it was even at this early point of Jones career recognizable that he could be one of the all time greats.

To day that Roy Jones was a punk is completely asinine. At his best, Roy Jones was a great fighter. The fact that he's been knocked out 4 times is a result of the fact that he got old and was too stupid and/or prideful to leave the sport when it was obvious that his skills were deteriorating. Given what Hopkins turned in the years after this fight, the fact that Roy beat Bernard when both were young is a hell of an accomplishment.
