A haiku poem is a form of japanese poetry written in 3 lines. The first line has 7 syllables. The second line has 5 and the third has 7. I think anyway. Correct me if wrong.
@iSoBoredMeIs It's actually morae not syllables, in japanese a syllable can have many morae. Tokyo (toukyou in roumaji) is 2 syllables but 5 morae. One mora is one vowel with an otopnal consonant before it, a consonant+y combination is an extra mora, a consonant at the end fo a syllable is an extra mora and a long vowel or diphthong is also an extra mora. So ryuu (dragon) has 3 mora.
so,quick questoin,so,for the syllables, does it mean in english syllabyiles,or japanese syllables ?,like a-na-ta-no which would be 4 ? or would it count in english ,which would only have one syllable ? you- i'm confused :\
really? this is my first time seeing it. :likes the way the old word for frog was used:
Ever since I've started studying Japanese, I've wanted to work on Japanese poetry and songs! I write anyways, but I'd love to see how/if structures for Japanese poetry/songs are different than regular grammer structure.

★Japanese imagine from this Haiku that
there is an ancient pond in the old Japanese style garden with extreme silence
and suddenly a frog jumps in that pond and break the silence for a while
then, after that ,silence come back again.
So, Japanese strongly feel wabi-sabi from this Haiku which is the most famous
masterpiece in the world.

snow falls gently
It falls on the ground slowly
soft and beautiful
i dont think this is a good haiku but it is one that i made up so what do you think?
blahbahcool9 1 year ago
@blahbahcool9
Though it is beautiful poetry, it is poetry of the English.
I think that should make it a sentence to feel "soft and beautiful".
Two "falls" is slightly unnecessary, too
I do it this way...
舞い散る雪 Snow dances
耳を澄ませば When I listen carefully
微かな足音 A little footsteps
Sorry, my haiku and English is not so good.

It's not 5-7-5 syllables, it's 5-7-5 'mora'...
So if you wrote it out in hiragana, there would be 5-7-5 kana.
