@ParksideZoo We train most of our flyers at natural fledging age so they are babies when we start them. You can read more about how we train our flyers at libertywings com Chris
This is so amazing! I absolutely love all your videos. I african grey just learned how to fly. I would really like to know how you trained them to come back to you. I think I would be too scared to try it with my baby though. I don't know what I would do if he flew away and never came back. Did this ever happen to you with one of your birds??
Flying since 1993 I have lost one partially trained adult bird at a fair in Orlando FL. We have also suffered 5 deaths from various accidents at fairs, including dog attacks, poison, a power line, and a window. We have lost more to non flying accidents. All losses are difficult to live with. We are very close to our birds. It is even harder for me to stop flying our birds since they so clearly love it. We now fly 20+ birds almost every day, all year long. The odds are way in our favor. Chris
AMAZING!...I'm speachless... Wonderful birds and very good trainers. Like everyone said, I wish to offer to my macaw same thing...Maybe someday...Thank you again for all your postings!
Chris, I look at these and I feel SOOOOOOOOOO guilty for not being able to let my macaws fly too. I wish I had started them at a young age and I wish I lived somewhere close like that to fly them. The best my will ever have is to not ever be clipped, fly indoors and in their outside aviary.
Thanks for the comment. Buckle (Shamrock macaw) did some great flying that day. As did the Blue Throat Macaws (look like blue and gold). They all seem to really to enjoy flying at these locations. We sure enjoy it. You should see it in person, there is so much more involved than the camera can show you. Chris
Absolutely amazing! I love how the birds need no prompting of any sort, they just take to the wind, they are so free and so easily return to you both. And when they return they are so very careful to land gently on your hand. Watching the blue and gold play in the updrafts is fun. Filming while the bird lands on your fingers incredible!
WOW! Breathtaking! Wonderful!

Oh my gosh - how beautiful! I have a B&G and a Severe. I would love for them to be able to fly! How old were your birds when you began training them?
