True story. Fishing at Maverick's on Labor Day Weeked back in mid-nineties a 12+ foot great white shark ate a ling cod off my line. Flat calm day, niners on radio, in a 12 foot inflatable dive boat with a small outboard, fishing. The ling cod was ready to be netted when the beast came from nowhere and sucked down my fish and with three thrashes of the tail it was gone. Somehow the suddenness of its appearance was life changing.
