Actually isn't that a 4x4 truck unit? It should have 4 wheel high and low range. I would say using low range would help eliminate the bog down motor. It would also make sure the unit lasted longer as well as the trans in the truck.
Yea, The Truck just needs Low Range, a lot a people don't really know what low range is for, but this one of those reasons, to creep along at the rate the blower needs to keep it clearing itself regardless of how deep or dense.
I agree with jeb8n. Your front augers are going to fast. Gear it down like he says and you'll blow mucho snow!! Good idea though. I always thought they could build one for modern pick-ups.
are you trying to compare this lawnmower with a unimog that carries engines from 800 to 1200hp on its deck?the darn thing would be more efficient with a 6ft plow and a ton of rocks on its deck....
Yeah but these mini-trucks are what $5-10K at least minimum to purchase from what I've seen and your kit adds what another $3500-$5000 probably on that price? So if you buy a $10,000 mini-truck add your kit for another $3500 you're at $13500 already why not go another $5-$6k and get a used Mog?
Thanks. The blower motor bogged down in deeper snow with a hard, frozen base. That was a field we were testing the unit on uneven terrain. We wanted to test it in more extreme conditions than just normal storm clean-up.

if your unimog has a lower gear range like 4x4 low I would use that in the deeper snow so you wouldn't have to worry about burning out your clutch.

I'm not that impressed, why wouldn't I get a Uni-Mog to do the same job with a Schmidt blower?

PRICE??? This project was intended to fill a huge void in price with vehicle mount blowers. Uni-Mogs are awesome...and awesomely expensive.

@TheAnarchistPrince unimog = big and wide.
thestuffz 2 years ago
The older 406 models aren't that wide nor are they that long.
TheAnarchistPrince 2 years ago
@TheAnarchistPrince Unimog 406 is about 84 inches wide.
a mini truck is about 48" wide. have you actually seen a mini truck before?
they would just about fit in the back of a unimog bed!

@TheAnarchistPrince u could'nt afford a used blower off craigslist

Nice rig! I'd bet if you could gear the blower down about 30% (smaller pulley on engine or bigger on blower) it would not boug down as mutch
and would still throw snow plenty
far .
