Count it for yourself and you'll see... ive watched a lot of skeeter and this is the only place ive ever seen him loose time, even the best make mistakes tho

You propably count the hihat-opening at 0:43 wrong, which would lead you to wrong tracks. it is not on a beat, it comes on a syncopated eighth note. If I said it right. It comes just one 16th note before the beat 3 at the measure. If you take that in consideration then it's easy to understand the fill. But he definitely doens't come an entire half of a beat early.

Try searching "linear drumming", stu roberts has a good example of that. That's the kinda stuff gospel guys do a lot, just rudiment after another orchestrated musically ;) Sounds easier than it really is. You should come up with your own ideas, but hey! always remember where the "one" is. Count the notes that you play so that they do fit in the bar. That is vital for the stuff to sound good. It's basically just math, but in time you'll create a lick bank that allows you to play without thinking.
