depends what you ride really. if you want torque get a four stroke. depends on your riding style too.

power to wieght? lollllllllll four strokes have more horsepower and torque then two strokes too bud.

@bligrigs yeah but you have to agree on riding stylle and skill level to be a major factor in what your saying. my race bike has 62hp and it gets smoked by a 250 two stroke.. but on mx track how much of the power on a 2 stroke can you really use? idk im just babbling but yeah i see what your talking about. :)

@johnvandizzle You are right in the fact that skill is everything, no matter how fast yer bike is it will only go as fast as you can make it. I just stepped off a 2008 yz250f and bought a 2010KTM 250sx two stroke. I can only speak from what I know its way faster. But it is deff a handful, not used to the power yet but i manage...........

blame the AMA AND THE EPA for this silly thing of pushing 4 strokes and all the hooppla that they are better than the 2 stroke bikes,

4 stroke bikes are more pricey to work mon and more complex,

Actually, just the AMA. The EPA has no control over closed course vehicles. Plus 4 strokes are substantially louder than 2 strokes, so it isn't a sound thing, it's a manufacturer making money thing.

Why would I go and base my opinion on what someone paid by a corporate sponsor has to say? You also assume we all know who "Rickey Charmichael" is. By you mentioning him as the source, does that lend an extra bit of credibility to his statements or for that matter, yours? Why don't you research on your own instead of allowing yourself to be spoon-fed by someone else? If the four-stroke engine is so superior, why didn't moto-cross bikes start with them instead of end up with them?

Actually, when motocross first started, the bikes were 4 stroke. Then the 2 stroke came along and proved to be a better technology. Now 4 strokes have improved and have been given a displacement advantage.
