hi there were on ebay did you get the full frunt as my iphone 2g 16gig has bad pixels and would like to replace the thing as it going to go off soon please email me on my youtube and thanks again
Where did you buy this part? Or in other words what is it refered to as on sites like ebay. Alls I can find is parts which have the lcd digitizer and glass glued togerther. Where can I find something that includes everything including the outer metal ring thing like you had in the video.
@littlelarry33 you should just do an ebay search of lcd/digitizer and midboard and you'll find a few. For the iPhone 2G you can only get the LCD/digitizer fused together, do not get scammed by those suggesting you can get them separate, or for that matter separate them with an exacto knife.
@joozbajada the LCD and digitizer on the 2G are fuzed together, unlike like the 3G/s which has each separate. If you're asking about the mid-board and LCD/digitizer being together the answer is no, unless you find someone or a company which sells them together. That is what I did by just keeping an eye on ebay you can periodically find companies which part out iPhones.
@andymcquade I've had to keep my eye open on ebay, there are companies both in US and China which do salvage for iPhones and part them out, it's hit or miss but usually just a matter of keeping your eye open for them when they sell something.
@karma2k1 This is delicate work, don't force anything... that said - they're all meant to bend and be flexible. The ribbon cable you have to wiggle a bit at the end to slip into the pin connector, I usually bend myself right around the area where it gets really narrow - this seems to help line up the ribbon so it goes all the way into the pin connector. You'll know it's all the way in because that white line running across it will line up with the edge of your motherboard.
hey .. you kno how u have to pry the antenna cable off when ur disassembling it becuase they are glued on.. well when u put the phone to togethr do u have glue those white antenna cables back or not and if so what glue can i use?
Preassembled midboard & LCD/digitizer for the 2G is something that you basically have to keep your eye open for on ebay. They don't come preassembled generally so you're just looking either for an individual who's parting out their iPhone or a vendor (usually in China) who does it. But the supply is irregular. You can always get the parts, and their not too hard to put together, it's taking them apart that things get dicey.
Yeah seams like taking apart the iPhone is the hard part. I saw you showing it a little bit on your video on how to change battery. But is there a chanse you can actually make a video showing the entire process?
Thing is my 3GS just took a dive in water and insurance company dont want to pay up. So im stuck with my old 2G that have busted display.
hey john by buying this lcd+midboard all u need to do is attach battery n back casing then ull practically have a new iphone 2g? i curious cuz my iphone died it cant read the nand ssd drive n was wondering if i purchased a midboard+lcd if it wud solve the issue.
Excellent question, Mind you the midboard/LCD I got was "refurbished" a.ka. used. All I did was swap in my mainboard, and same back (since I knew the cable that controls the power/silent mode/volume that's attached in the back case would work with my mainboard) and it was as good as new or good enough for my son.
A warning, don't go swapping mainboards and back case without first knowing what model mainboard & arphone Jack Power Volume Switch Flex Cable you have,
The NAND is located behind metal shielding, it's beside where your camera attaches, but don't try to take it all off (only the top cover will come off) or you'll likely ruin your board.
This was a board which died, so my loss is your gain!
What is the small square black plastic piece for? Mine feel out while I was disassembling mine and I'm not sure where it goes.

Hi there,
thanks for the video! Do you have a company name for the refurbished parts? I've searched Ebay and can't find the whole unit you managed to buy.
