  • It's slow as fuck with 1 GB, all computers need 2+ GB otherwise it will lag as fucking hell!

  • 95% helpful, but the missing 5% made us have to buy a new eeePC.

A description on how to detach the mousepad ribbon cable is absolutely necessary, it is not at all obvious. Warning! The keyboard cable is by friction/insertion only, but the mousepad (and the hd-cable) cable is different. You have to flip the topside up, a kind of "zero-force" connector. We thought it was a friction cable as well, and in the struggle we simply destroyed it, both cable and connector.

  • Thanks, it helped, but how to detatch the three different tiny ribbon cable clips (two different kinds)? It was far from obvious and a few words about that would have been great. They are very fragile. Also, my keyboard had some adhesive bits underneath, including a really tricky piece which sticks the kbd ribbon cable down.

  • Thx men !

  • VERY helpful video. Many thanks!

  • Great video... Thanx!

  • You forgot to mention how to detach the keyboard. On the chipset there are two pins on each end. Pull these out and the cablething will popp out

  • Thank you for this great video. It made me more confident to add RAM to my EeePc. And I'm glad to learn that I can easily switch to a SSD drive.

  • Can you put 2 of 1gb ram stick in the Asus 1001px=

  • @brend198 nope you cant

  • How sturdy is it? Is there any flex on the wrist rest or keyboard? Do the screen twist or bend?

I cant see it on local store. I would appreciate any feed back before ordering. Thanks.

  • My warranty sticker broke right away when I tried to touch it so I don't know how did you manage to lift it up without ripping it.

But I don't care about that very much because I managed to upgrade the HDD to SSD succesfully without trashing anything else inside the PC, thx for the video :)

  • @hoxhaloo The "warranty void" sticker are as fake as the EULA, they mean noting. Equipment you own are serviceable by who ever you want (that include yourself). If they are shit heads and wont honor the warranty you can take them to small claim court and it will be for them to prove that your action was the cause of the malfunction. It is a easy win and you may get some punitive damage money out of it as well. Most companies wont bother wasting time in court and will just fix it the damn thing.

  • brilliant video

  • thanks.

  • Acer 4736z takes 2x4gb ddr3

  • Fantastic, loved the video.

  • ** Careful with the keyboard ribbon connector! If you THINK it has to open upwards like the touchpad- and mainribbon and try to pry it with as little as a fingernail, you'll rip it off the motherboard and destroy the pc. It has to open by sliding the black part gently away from the tan part, hence releasing the the ribbon edge.

  • anyone know what the fsb speed of the ram is?

  • Thank YOU! amazing and helpful video!

  • Awesome. Successfully upgraded the memory and replaced the hard disk with an SSD. Thanks.

  • great video. I can change my HDD now =D thanks <3

  • Just an FYI for everyone looking at doing this. The clips that hold the ribbon cable in for the touchpad and the ribbon cable that goes across the top of the hard drive lift up rather than slide out like the keyboard. Very odd, the ribbon across the drive also carries power so if it isn't remounted properly it will kill your motherboard...

  • im a newbie but can u replace the 160 gb hard drvie with a 360 gb hard drive?..... plz answer.......great vid btw ;)

  • Nice that you can upgrade the RAM but a money spinning waste in that you HAVE to swap the original and not just add 1GB.

Everyone will end up with a spare 1GB RAM sitting there doing nothing.

  • go back in agaiiiin yeah !!

    great video

    thanks !

  • dude is it impossible to change the cpu

  • I found this: Kingston ValueR DDR2 SO-DIMM PC5300 2GB

    CL5, Non-ECC, 1.8V, 256Mx64, 200pin

    Will that one work?

  • Iunderstand how to change the ram now, that looks really easy but I still need help finding a compatible RAM 2gig memory.. Can someone tell me a good recommended 2gig RAM that will fit into my asus eee 1001px? and if you have a link to that compatible 2gig ram I would be very happy :) Also an upgraded harddrive that will fit in there would be really nice to know of. thanks for the vid man, really great :D

  • I mean the PLL chipnumber of that motherboard which is located on the motherboard. It should be something like this, ICS 9LPRS113AKLF.

    Thanks!

  • @Jezze90 u looking fore 9lprs427cglf?

  • Hi, thanks for great vid!

But i would like to ask if you'd happen to remember the clock generator name of that motherboard once you opened it? I am thinking about overclocking my 1001px (R101) a little and i need that information for SetFSB. I would highly appriciate if you would tell me that:) If u could look those pictures you took inside of the computer and find it there. I can't see them at enough high res at your homepage.

    Thanks, Jez :)

  • sucks how they don't make the HDD easily accessible

  • Thanks for the cdkey ;)

  • So SO DIMM 200 or 204 ?

    DDR2 or can I upgrade to DDR3?

    6 or 800MHz or can I go for the 1066MHz ??

    Latency: Should I go for CL5, 6, 7 or 9?

  • @Antwelm

    SO-DIMM DDR2 800MHz ONLY! (That will be a 200pin DIMM)

  • @myblackabyss Thanks :)

  • dude how do i upgrade my graffic card where do i find it

  • @MrPyrotech96

    Integrated so you can't.

It's a netbook, not like you can game anyway.

  • Hey, nice video, just received my Eee today and going to upgrade it. The ram part was easier than I thought

  • +1 for your accent, great vid btw
