I can't belive the BIshops of America traded Gregorian Chant, Mozart, Beethovan etc for this. Although beautiful, this would be more suited for a large bible study or what have you.
@dacatholicbandorgan The church has no official instrument. In fact Christians do even need a church! Church is a state of praise and not a building. In any case, everyone knows that if Jesus were here today, he would probably play a Gibson Les Paul anyway.... :-)
The sound that you are hearing was captured by the camera which was placed beside the monitor of the instruments. The church was packed and that area was the only available spot for the camera. If you were in the pews, the sound was more balanced because the choir speakers were firing forward.
Well, it's my first time to hear this song, its a worship song, i think it would suitable if this song be sung on the final or recessional. But It's nice specialy the Choirs and the band.Kuddos amigos!!
We sing this sometimes at my Church, I hate it. It's the same awfull antispirit of Vatican II that's been prevailing since the 70s. Bring back latin chant for all I say.
I think you are confused. "Full of spirit" means alive. Antispirit is supposed to be dead. God is taking us out of the Latin chant to go to a different direction. Most Christian churches are not back-pedaling. If you want to go back, how about further, back to Judaism where it all started?
I meant anti-"spirit of Vatcan II" because of the "spirit of Vatican II" which has been around since the 60s which actually contradicts what Vatican II actually said. It is not "back peddling", as HE Cardinal Hoyos said, he would consider it progress, considering the average latin Mass congregant is far more reverant and pious than the average Novus Ordo congregant.
The Second Vatican Council seems to disagree, it said Gregorian chant should have the primary position in sacred music, and latin should be kept as the primary liturgical language.
Pope Benedict would also strongly disagree with you, which shows that God is not "taking us out of the Latin chant to go to a different direction" since he is indeed giuded by the Holy Spirit.
All other churches use as liturgical language, Greek Orthodox has greek &c. These traditions go back millenia.
@trancer2412 Our Lord wants us to praise him with the talents and ability that he blessed us with. I am certain that he would rather us praise him constantly and sincerely by our own means or any means available.
This is a fantastic joyous song that speaks to me of the light and love that Jesus brings to those that give themselves to him. It's whatever makes your spirit soar that pleases God.
@artsaran The documents published by the church regarding the revisions to the liturgy following the Second Vatican Council state plainly that gregorian chant and polyphony are to hold "pride of place" in the Roman Catholic liturgy. That means they should be celebrated for the beautiful art that they are and used often! The use of gregorian chant, renaissance polyphony, latin motets, etc. has nothing at all to do with "back-pedalling," but rather is simply following the church's instructions.

@dacatholicbandorgan thos version would be more suited for Bible study. In my church we sing this to a organ and it sounds alot better.

Naturally, the Organ is the King of Instruments and the official instrument of the Church.

That was the time when many former Catholics were searching for something that they can relay to and found it in another denomination.

Very nice. Wish the mike balance had been a bit more towards the singers and away from the instrumentalists.

@162ALAN162 The song might be an appropriate song for worship in a prayer service but not during Mass.
