  • Piękny gest. Wspaniały step. Fantastyczni mistrzowie stepowania. To ostatni tacy mistrzowie. Są w mojej pamięci. Kłaniam się nisko.

A beautiful gesture. Wonderful step. Fantastic tap masters. This is the last such masters. They're in my memory. I'm very impressed.

  • Man, that's what entertainment is all about!

  • Had to bow to my computer screen. 2 legends

  • Had to bow to my computer screens. 2 legends

  • Entertainment at its best!

  • Two greatest tappers of all time. It's gonna be a long time before someone can topple those golliaths

  • いつ見ても涙でる。

  • You'll never the likes of Sammy Davis Jr again. The greatest ever.

  • cant type cring on keyboard

  • @ytlanza. I totally totally agree. A historic performance from two of the best. I don't think I'm wrong in saying that we lost Sammy about 2 weeks after this show. That being said, what amazing energy he showed so close to end. Sammy has to be put in that category as one of the greatest entertainers of all time.

  • You don't have to be a tap follower to have a joy orgasm with this.

  • omg this is just too perfect!!!!

  • Fucking amazing! Talent, class and most of all heart.

  • It was just great show!!!

  • thumb up if this guy likes like john ollie!

  • I was raised watching two performers. Sammy Davis, Jr. and the dancing/vocal act known as Hines, Hines & Dad. I am so glad to be born in a time when I could see both

Gregory and Sammy perform together one last time since the film "Tap".

Thank you both in passing the shoes to young men like Savion Glover and others.

  • They are legends

  • Beautiful

  • the master... and the masters master! Sammy was the man. RIP both.

  • thats class

  • What a wonderful performance. :D

  • 2:27 Happy Feet! :D

  • Two of the greatest dancers of our time....RIP

  • i am so glad these guys exist.

  • They ain't got nothin' on Dr. Huxtable

  • @slantyrock lmao

  • WE WILL NEVER SEE HOOFERS LIKE THESE 2 AGAIN!

    Rest Peacefully

    SAMMY DAVIS, JR. (1925~1990)

    GREGORY HINES (1946~2003)

  • @PigfootAbernathy You never spoke truer words friend..they just don't make 'em like that any more, that's for damned sure. To watch people like them compared to what passes for talent today just chokes me right up.

  • Truly almost made me cry. I watch this when I'm pissed @ the world. Always seems to make it better. True GREATNESS!!!!

  • Sammy Davis Jr. The greatest all around entertainer of all time. SINGER ACTOR MUSICIAN , DANCER, QUICK DRAW,.......what a privilege to have shared a time in the life of Sammy Davis Jr. God bless you sir. See you at the great performance!!!

  • Mannnnn... When he kneels in front of Sammy to put his shoes on... Who even has that kind if respect anymore???

  • @g00dth3m3 I know right! I was thinking the same thing!

  • @g00dth3m3 I AGREE

  • AMAZING!!!!!

  • Sammy a Beast!

  • just delicious

  • LEGENDS! R.I.P. to both men

  • Man kiss eww. But you gotta love sammy grow up on him

  • This video will ALWAYS be a favourite of mine. GREAT talent.....sorely missed.

  • ...it's not done like this anymore....the late and greatest....

  • Sammy at the tribute that was moved to an earlier date because he was in the final stages of cancer, and still danced circles around Hines..holy crap he was the man

  • this was my first video that almost made me cry.

  • This is too much. I LOVE IT! Especially them tapping together. Thanks for uploading this.

  • Tears of Joy

  • Both Gregory Hines & Sammy Davis Jr are now tap dancing on the clouds entering God and his angles.

  • Seeing this performance with Sammy and Gregory always puts a smile on my face.

  • RIP G Hines

  • 5 people can't tap dance to save their lives

  • Simba 1622 your sooo lucky to have seen an Icon like Sammy D Jr. perform

  • True tribute!

  • that was so nice

  • 3:42-3:50 made me cry. What an honor, and what an emotional show of respect from one brilliant artist to another.

  • sammy d could do it all dance, sing, impressions and act a 1 in a million!!!!!

  • I think Gregory Hines is amazing, but when Sammy started going he seemed to do it with such incredible ease it looked like magic.

  • @simba1622. Wow! I really envy you. You (by chance) got to see one of the true greats. I've seen tons of entertainers in my day. Mostly R&B groups when they came to St Louis in the late 70's during my military days. Sammy was one entertainer I would have LOVED to have seen in person.

  • how is there 5 dislikes?

  • Whoever disliked this .. HATERS

  • THAT'S how you go out.

  • This is so poignant-with Gregory gone now too. Sammy, already with 2 artificial hips and throat cancer in late stages when he made his last movie along with the survivors of the era, the great Nicolas Bros. Michael Jackson studied SDJ and hung out with him. Forget the snide flak, and just get inspired by their awesome talent.

  • sammy davis jnr what a man mr bojangles yeah !!!

  • I love this show and Sammy will be missed by one and all

  • Sammy~ " Boy you a'int got no legs" Via -Taps- the movie

  • Wow , I remember this ! It seems so long ago, but really wasn't.

  • I haven't watched this in nearly twenty years, but I remembered Davis' last few steps perfectly. This is just a grand joy to revisit!

  • EXTRODINARY X ONE MILLION X ONE MILLION

  • @ 5:27, Mr. Hines was humbled.

  • @asianhotness1 yes in a good way, sammy was THE MAN and he was just so thrilled at the chance to dance with him....

  • @1sttony7 no argument there.

  • I really miss those guys. :(

  • I love you Michael but Sammy Davis Jr. is the best that ever did it, a triple threat, actor, singer and dancer, the greatest of all time.

  • Great!!Sammy very humble person..Hines as well..you dont c this on this times!!

  • love love LOVE

  • I laughed. I cried. I laughed again. How lovely, too that Greg Hines acknowledges Sammy's unequalled greatness. THANKYOU for posting this. Amazing, amazing, A-MA-ZING!

  • @blozmo

I felt exactly the same. It is a joy to see those wonderfull men together on stage.

  • this is so sad he died tht same yr

  • Sammy Davis Jr. Has been my inspiration for tapping since before I could recite my ABC's and he still is to this day. It's great to see him honored as he should be by one of the great Tap masters such as Gregory Hines!

  • the world is so connected together. these guys are proof of that.

  • Gregory Hines just always really shows the full force and emotion of what he does, but Sammy just does it so easily and cool, makes it look like he doesn't even have to try. Two masters doing their best work, this is amazing.

  • 5:28 Sammy's last set followed by the double click, to me was more legendary than when michael jackson did his moonwalk for the first time in 84

  • what a world we lost...when we lost those two

  • I was at a casino in Lake Tahoe where Sammy Davis Jr. just happened to be performing, got a ticket out of curiosity, and left feeling honored to have seen a man of such talent.

  • Man, Sammy Davis is totally like Yoda in this. He's old, he's shrunken, but don't judge him by his size - he's still a badass.

  • I love Michael Jackson, James Brown, Elvis could do no wrong....BUT, to me. The GREATEST ENTERTAINER OF THE 20TH CENTURY......SAMMY!!!

  • Fantastic !

  • No idea Sammy and I share same birthdate (well - almost the same - I am December 9) First watched this in '90 or 91. Filled me with same deep love for Sammy, Greg Hines and All those magnificent sons and daughters of Africa.... In spite of it all you shine - you shine. You rule! You do!!!

    Thanks you Africa for everything

  • There is not much that Sammy did not do and he did it all very well. Got a chance to see him perform in person. What an awesome talent!!

  • 4 people don´t know what art is

  • @luchoq77 and 492 they do know what they talking about .

Sammy you are a legend an all time legend we miss you sir

  • Sammy Davis Jr. tapped? My gosh I always thought he was just a singer. Ya learn something new everyday!

  • @McGarvinStudios if you really want to see him do something, rent the movie Tap (1989)

  • This is such a treat!!!

Thx 4 posting. To see these guys perform together is electrifying.

May they rest peacefully knowing that they will always beloved and admired :)

  • Dayum I MISS these guys....

  • Reading up on both Gregory and Sammy I noted that they both started out on stage at a very young age dancing with their fathers. And cancer took them both at too young an age, Sammy just about three months after this performance. But they live on forever in out memories and out hearts.

  • I remember watching that on TV also and just knew it was such a beautiful, spontaneous, and rare moment. It was great.

Thank god for both of these men. Thank you.

  • ♫ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY ♫ - Sammy Davis Jr

    Would be 85 today - 8th Dec 2010!

    We miss you Sammy! ♡

  • I love both these men. Great at what they did.

  • i have seen this so many times this is great two of the greatest

  • I remember seeing this on t.v. when i was little!!! Thank goodness for youtube and the people who upload :D

  • loveeeeee

  • great

  • for ppl are retarded in the world

  • Sammy Davis Jr. (1925–1990) A chain smoker, Davis died from throat cancer at the age of 64. When he died, he was in debt. To pay for Davis' funeral, most of his memorabilia was sold off.

Gregory Hines (1946–2003) Died on August 9, 2003 in Los Angeles, California from liver cancer. He was only 57

  • WOW I LOVEEEEEE THIS VIDEO

  • A great tribute from the student to his master. Even though he was incredibly weak from cancer treatment, Sammy still mustered enough energy to have one final dance challenge with his heir apparent, Gregory Hines. Sadly, Sammy would be gone within the month after this tribute.

  • WOW! What a moment. From 2:32 - 2:45 the shot of Sammy from behind looking at Greg reminds me of the opening scene in The Godfather. Appropriate!

  • literally my favourite television moment ever!

  • Fantastique duo !

  • Goosebumps! What a treat to watch these two legends dance together!

  • This vidoe filled me with joy! I don't know much about tap dancing but it's obvious that these guys are the top of the pops! So much style, so much energy. They're one with the rythm and the movement, it's amazing. And the love and enjoyment they both show is insane! Lovely! I'd like more of this vibe back today.

  • To the networks......to hell with these fake 'talent' shows. American Idol can kiss my ass.

Look no further than these two gentlemen if you want to see what real talent is all about. Rest in peace both of them.

  • O M G WHAT A PERFORMANCE! BRAVO!

  • 2 of the best tap dancer of their generation, but without taking anything away from them and specialy the great Sammy Gene kelly and Fred Astaire were superior dancers (not tap dancers) Sammy and Gregory were of the same class as Bojangle

  • @ELLEAQUAWATCH Kelly and Astaire = Elvis and Eminem. They were virtuosos, but the art form they chose was created by and perfected by and continues to be innovated by Black people. Davis and Hines are innovators, creators, sons of their communities who flowed into and exploded out of the heart of the culture that created tap.

  • its hard to watch this and not instantly want to know more about these artists. and then it sinks the heart to discover that they are both missing. may they rest, they were the best of the human society. might i add that Sammy's humility is one of the most enduring features of his personality. he was never too great/big for anyone... and his physical stature helped that so much.

  • Another great great talent cut too short and taken too soon. RIP Bro'

  • I don't even LIKE dancing, but these guys are some of the most talented mother-fuckers in history. People in the coming centuries won't even believe that we lived in a world that had performers of this standard.

  • 3 people are deaf and blind. Youtube is not for you guys.

  • I remember seeing this too. This, folks, was PURE TALENT at its best!

  • This made tears in my eyes, to know he die not long after this. He still had it. This is beautiful.

  • SAMMY IS THE BEST

  • Your welcomed Tiano Brothers these guys couldn't be touched by anyone.

  • I remember watching this LIVE... I get all misty eyed every time.. great talent

  • he is so good that even though im on my 20s i can still preciate him.i feel sorry for my counsins or nephewsyounger then me, cause they will never have idols like sammy or gregory in the future with multiple talents dancing, acting a true performer.today is just stupid chris brown usher, britney etc..they dont bring nothing new is all stollen from sammy, michael etc

  • How effortless does Sammy Davis Jr. Make tap look.

These men are both spectacular and one of a kind

  • i just wish the audience would shut up - haha actually i'm typing this comment with a new found rhythm (typpety-type-typetype)

  • @yaijai 1st class..

  • Classic classic classic. I kinda get misty eyed watching two greats share the stage.

  • Love Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis.

  • WHERE DID THE TALENT GO? I MEAN TAP DANCING IS AN ART FORM

  • Well..........I never knew Sammy Davies Jr. was a tap dancer! Excellent.

  • HEY Look : Three People Had A SPAZ Attack After Watching The Most Amazing Tap Danceerss . . Those 3 People Are Retarted . These Are Two Incredible Individuals . Show Them Some Respect .

  • 3 people missed the "like" button

  • Two AMAZING tappers!

  • I Have to tears in my eyes, I feel like these men just gave themselves, not out of duty but out of a huge heart. On one of his last tap dance performances, Gregory Hines looked so humble and sweet...but always on the beat and persistent, and loving. Rest In Peace guys!

  • Omg Sammy died 2 weeks after this hes a great showman

  • @budders2001 no sammy died like 3 months after this

  • 3 words. Love, respect and talent. Sorry 4 words.

  • Gregory Hines man! Talented and has so much class and respect

  • Thank god for Savion Glover to carry the tap shoes torch.

  • where can I find this video?

  • @hotmail99:

    Try ebay or Amazon.

  • Where has the respect gone? The admiration?

  • 4:18 The shit just got real...go sammy~!!!

  • Gregory Hines, a beautiful talent in his own right, adored Sammy Davis Jr. and this tribute to him will be remembered forever in those of us who saw it and realized what a truly meaningful event this was. Sammy died 2 weeks later. Gregory died in 2003. Two great talents who left us way too soon. We miss you, guys.

  • I remember Gregory Hynes in Cotton Club...what a dance!!!Great one Master G!!!

  • thsi is so wonderful. i sit here in tears. Wow this is great stuff. No TALENT like it ever again. Never!

  • Two great Men on the tap scene!!!! I remember this moment. Rip in fellas!

  • I got the real feeling from reading a little about Sammy, and looking at this and other videos of this tribute that he truly felt uncomfortable being the tribute-ee. I think for so many years, actually his whole life he felt that he had to work harder, longer, and be better than the next guy. We could all learn a few things from Sammy Davis Jr.

  • I have tears in my eyes as i watch this...smiles too....They will and are missed..so much...even today.

  • Good God was he amazing.

  • @mrceebees14 To dance like that so close to his death was amazing. He was one of the greats. Gregory Hines and Sammy in good health would have been a show for the ages.

  • I still can't believe that Gregory Hines died over 7yrs ago aged just 57.

  • sammy was the man..lol...r.i.p to them both we have loss so many of our greats

  • Once Savion Glover is gone...the last of this era is gone for ever

  • dude i dont even tap dance but this made me tear up a little in the eyes

  • what a great video

  • the old sammy is better !!

  • @Roelverheggen1 At the time of this taping Sammy Davis was ravaged with throat cancer and could barely talk and could not eat. He did quite well for a man who shorlty after this taping would die.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • WoW!

  • Touching!

  • Hines was the main reason Danny Glovers son got into dance.

  • @mrceebees14 Savion is not related to Danny Glovers.

  • How could someone dislike this video?

  • Speechless

  • amazingggggggg sammy :D

  • Two great men who I was blessed to have met. Miss you guys.

  • Wow, you could really see how thrilled Gregory Hines was to be dancing with Sammy Davis Jr. ! What a fantastic clip. Thank for the ul

  • One of the greatest displays of humility and respect from one artist to another.

  • A gentleman, a rare talent, a shining star. We love Sammy.

  • This man died in debt and he was TALENT!!!..but yet we have these fake studio artist who make millions doing nothing absolutely nothing!...how wrong is that!...

  • I am sitting here in tears.... truely an icon and gentleman! No one can dance like Sammy! I remember as a little girl on Sunday nights we would watch the Lawrence Welk show and Sammy Davis Jr. performed. My mom said... you'll never see anyone as good as Sammy.... she was right!
