  • This is a low low quality clip, but good tutorial, so if you can post it again but with high quality settings please. I know "How to Import MAX models to Unreal Editor 3 " but maybe others need it...

  • the ase. file is missing an r!

  • nice video quality :)

  • good tutorial, but the letters are totally unreadable

  • @RIGENSTEIN The important words were put in annotations.

  • I have a question, I made a map in 3D max, and I was wondering if there's a way I could export my map into Unreal editor 3...

  • @L3G3nD0001 I don't see why not, is it like a terrain or like some sort of room? Your problems with doing it this way are:

    1. You will have to make a custom material for it as you will not be able to select individual faces and add mats, like you can with BSP.

    2. It will not be a collision model, you can make a custom one, outside the editor (I am not exactly sure how)

    3. Possibility that light may react oddly.

Other than that, it should be the same as what I did here.

  • program name ? how can i do it the first step i ve got ut3 ed but how can do it? please answer me please¡¡¡¡

  • @AlbertREWesker The first program I used was 3ds MAX. You can get it for free for a year if you have a student email at the autodesk student community. (Just google those 3 words and it should be the first return) You need to have a static mesh to import to follow this tut which is made in a 3d package like 3ds MAX. Other ones you may want to check out are Autodesk Maya, Softimage XSI, and Blender (Free unlimited)

  • Do you know how to export an animated mesh from max into the unreal engine? I wanted to model and have birds fly around in my level. I could use kismet to move the birds around in the UT3 engine, but for their wings to flap, I need to do that in max. The exporter, also shown in this video, has options to export animated mesh from max into unreal. Sadly, I could figure out just how to do it. Perhaps you may know TnT3Ds?

  • @onsoyon Wow, im sorry i really did mean to comment on this earlier and completly forgot. You need to download the plug-in Actor-X from unreal.

  • @TnT3Ds I was taking a game design class last school year and we along with our instructor were trying to figure that out. The unreal engine was new to the class that year, but we learned a lot. We didnt quite figure out how to import playable characters, but most of the importing/exporting basics we got down. Have to be honest, working with the unreal engine for half a year gets exhausting.. when you are trying to solve have the things it offers by trial and error. Now i miss that class/UT3 edr

  • @onsoyon Yeah, importing custom characters is probably one of the harder things to do correctly in unreal. With this plugin though it is easier.

You could also download UDK and work in a more updated version. Its an addicting program.

  • where can i get the unreal editor

  • @MONEYVAL9 You can download Unreal Developers kit. Just google it and its the first link and then click on "Click here to get UDK now! *Updated for Feb 2010!*" and thats completly free. Also if you purchase Unreal Tournament 3 or Gears of War for the PC they give you it for free as well. UDK is by far the better editor though.

  • I have a small propane tank, how do you get the normal maps on it? Is LOD group supposed to be character normals?

  • I have a video in More From: TnT3ds Importing Normal and specular maps into unreal. But when you import the normal map change the compression setting from TC_Default to TC_Normal. When you go to add the material do it the same as the diffuse.

  • can you please show how to add your normal map, spec map, and occ map to this barrel?

  • Video uploaded

  • great stuff thanks

  • lol nice vid man, i gotta get me UT3, Love how you have "SUPR SECRIT"
