  • hate to say it but.......that kind of sucked

  • great jam but wow has steve morse aged or what? no more chiseled guns and now a beer gut... still one of my all time faves though

  • You can see Steve Morse is a lefty who's learned to play right-handed, the way he holds the pick, etc. Hasn't held him back much...

  • @mortdemasse Sterling Ball, son of Ernie Ball and CEO of Ernie Ball Music Man is playing bass.

  • steve morse doesn´t have to play really fast to prove that he is one of the best guitar playeres ever !!!

  • steve jobs on drums...

  • The bassist is Sterling Ball...CEO of Ernie Ball..you know...that one company that makes strings and also does that Music Man guitar and bass thing...

  • Yeah i like the way SM plays it. Great technique......

  • morse does an AMAZING job of playing in his own style in the context of the song, while still channeling the original spirit of the song. wow

  • Hendrix must be rolling over in his grave. While Lukather and Morse are world class guitarist, when it comes to playing Little Wing they just don't do it justice. Lukathers guitar tone quality and vocal sound very technical. Seems to me when great musicians get together, they usually go over the top or play it save. Maybe they needed to smoke a joint... close there eyes and let it happen with a bit more feeling.

  • @mortdemasse -- Haha.. I was just being a smartass when I posted that. I am the world's biggest Deep Purple fan, and I'm very into the modern stuff with Morse. Like Lukather too. I think Van Halen called once him his favorite guitarist.

  • yeah.. they great. so simpatico. Morse has so much feeling. so much music in his play. Lukather is... ok ... Lukather IS! Also the Drummer did a fantstic job. A lot of feeling either. He read the two heros very well!!!

  • Why did Lukather start the song with a dirty tone, and furthermore, why does he overplay to the shithouse?!

  • WOW!!! Morse is puttin it down. Superb.

  • 3:18 Steve play delicious china phrase

  • Mr.ball got some balls to play with those two giants haha

  • My respects to Lukather (a God on this planet) but listen to Morse's modesty - confirmed in [part 2] video... I mean, isn't Dr. Morse much more a "feel" guitar player than the "Luke"? They both make me want to both continue to practice and give up. Sweet sweet contradiction...

  • Oh yes - what a great solo from Steve Morse! I've admired him ever since the mid 70s when he and Dregs (Dixie) started to do music and made records. In the mid 90s I was lucky to see him live with Deep Purple in a little town named Falun in Dalarna-Sweden, and how great was that?! This solo is truely an art of one true guitarartist!

  • Who wrote "i don't like" deserves the instantaneous death!!!!!

  • 2:06

    Luke: Pretty cool

Morse: Yeah he told me to play that ;)

  • some very tasty playing from some very great players...

even mr.ball does a splendid job on the bass

  • Hello rcteigao..I live in Switzerland where it assumed that people have tons of money and the guitar shops get away with a lot including even misrepresenting aspects of instruments..to jack up the prices..and I have learnt the hard way that one has to be very focused, informed and self reliant when buying guitars. Do not let some rude sales person put you off if you find a good guitar. I have a SMY2 which I think is terrific and I hope that you find the model of your dreams one day soon:)

  • luke's voice = two thumbs up!

  • luke's got a great voice

  • Guitar TV? i can't hear very well steve morse's guitar, could u do something? xP

  • I wish I could have bought my MM SteveMorse Y2D in 2007. The only place with one available when I needed it was the Guitar Center store in Manhattan.

But the salesman there was so rude that I decided to vote with my money and got a Fender American Deluxe from Manny's (RIP) instead.

I'd even left a complaint on Guitar Center's website, but never got an answer back.

Bad deal for both of us, I guess. I didn't end up with the guitar I wanted and GC didn't get to make a sale.

  • Steve Morse is they only guitar player that i've saw using all his 5 fingers for play guitar, i mean, no like the thumb over the neck, i mean the 5 on the fretboard!! They are 2 of the more gifted players, but SM is just out of this world

  • Comment removed

  • @Abandonmetoo really? :D awesome! There´s any video of him doing it?

  • Comment removed

  • @rudicci Oh, I misinterpreted your post, thought you were talking about the massive use of the small finger, you are talking about the thumb upfront.

I watched this video closely, where does Steve Morse do different to the others?

  • @Abandonmetoo jejeje not in this video, i was talking in general. Write "Steve Morse Classical Guitar Solos" and you´ll see

  • Great to hear Morse take his time and lay out some digestible phrases.Great solo and Luke does a fine job as well.

  • what a awesome harmonics O.O....(Steve Morse)

  • both of them did a great tribute to hendrix

  • itv, Lukather proves EMGs make great guitarists sound like shit, Morse shows how to be god on guitar.

  • @SgtWreck

yeah emg's can't sing ,they're okay for rythmic stuff and low and but still, they sound like shaving machines.i can't stand emg,i still have a guitar with emg's from the older days.i can't stand the sound of them, duncans sound allot better,or dimarzios, depending on what type.

  • i like luke voice rather than his playing...

  • I wish Steve will make Little Wing together with Deep Purple!!

  • Morse>Luke

  • These guys should play professionally. They're really good.

  • @rovibe ur an idiot unless u mean together

  • @wehurtthosewelove -- It's called sarcasm, you jackassfucktardloser.

  • @rovibe wow im hurt now swearin when ur probably like a little 5 year old or at least u act like it do u think ur cool when u swear do u think u can make ur point come across stronger. well it makes u look like an idiot so whos the loser now

  • @wehurtthosewelove -- You started it. If you don't like being called names like the worthless piece of shit that you most certainly are, then don't do it to others. Otherwise, you need to put your big boy pants on and take what comes back to you. Only a dumb kid goes around expecting to be treated better than he or she treats others. Until you learn that, go fuck yourself.

  • @rovibe they are professionals - Steve Morse plays in Deep Purple and Lukather generally solo, some time ago with Toto

  • @creepingdeath1994 -- haha... I was being sarcastic. I'm the biggest Purple fan you'll ever meet. Love Lukather, too.

  • @rovibe Hahaha!

  • @rovibe steve lukather was a session musician...but i agree, they're good :)

  • @cjetelomar2010 haha, talk about not getting the joke :P

  • @rovibe AHAHAHA ROTFL!!!

  • Luke, I love ya man, but your guitar sounded like shit during the intro. Not the playing, but the tone.

  • steve's solo was better

  • heston blumenthal on bass there. man of many talents, haha!

  • I know some of you guys like Lukather alot... but Morse is so much more musical.

  • steve is incredible!!! for me is one of the best guitar players in the whole world!!!!

  • Incredible play by Steve Morse!!! Just unbelievable......

  • Two great players :)

  • Phrase at 0:48 = oh my god

  • @Philzwhodrumz Loved that part there, it sounds a lot like his vocal tone sometimes.

  • Go Steve Go!!!

  • on va dire que lukather a que la voix on lui laisse pa sexprimé sur sa guitar pour explosé morse ...

  • Luke was using WAY too much gain for the intro...the rest was awesome

  • different style.. but they are same really good.. i like steve morse" ,")

  • Steve and Morse on the same stage :D

    Pure Class!

  • very very quality of vidéo

  • steve lukater and steve morse

  • more than 4 minutes of solo steve lukather must have hate him !

  • Wolfgang Van halen of course

  • Holy Shit whose the Bass player !!!!

    Hes damn good !

  • It's Mr. Ball himself.

  • yeah sterling ball

CEO of ernie ball and music man

  • Morse is just on another level of rediculousness...Noone touches the guy..

  • Luke apparently got nervous by his opponent's bad assness. ^^ You can tell by his don't-know-what-to-do performance on part2.

  • they just paying tribute to a guitar god. giving their own styles. play with heart, it's all that matters!! ;p

  • Yup and he has been using that configuration for decades.

Lately he has been using an H-S-H version of his sig guitar.

  • great tone & technique for steve morse. both very nice guitar.

  • Morse got a great tone

  • seen Steve Morse live with deep purple he is amazing

  • yeahhhhh two greatest guitar players covering the best song from Jimi

  • sad to say but Steve doesn't look well on this clip. Sick?

  • Who Steve ?

  • he looks pissed off

  • hahahah!!!! so wrong, yet so hilarious!

  • Facile improvvisare sulla pentatonica in 12 posizione e all'inizio del manico con una velocità notevole;

Morse non usa tapping, leva e scale della minchia.

    Grandi entrambi comunque!

  • steve morse kicks my ass everytime.....

  • ca fouette

  • wow, to play such a beautiful country lead guitar playing over bluesy rhytm is so clever! steve morse is a real musician and virtuoso

  • i can't believe you think that's a PRS!

  • superb solo by morse..

damn..i wish i can play like him..

  • Dont We all. :)

  • really everyone? morse ftw.

  • Who said you cant get good tone out of Emg's?

  • Considering this was an EBMM clinic, what do you reckon?

  • These 2 giant are great! But this session are boring!

  • love morse, but his playing in this one was strange.

  • What is Morse telling Luke around 2:04 ?

    Something like " I forgot the tune " ?

  • just "i forgot" but what hes talking when luke ends and the solo starts ?

  • Comment removed

  • Does anyone know why Eddie Van Halen left Ernie Ball to produce his guitar with Peavy and then Fender?

  • Steve Lukather's souds is like an old jump start kit by Ibanez. Ugly sound!

  • itend to agree. its well defined but so scooped that it kinda disappears leaving mostly sterile highs

  • Steve Lukather, no doubt about it.

  • Steve is fantastic!!

  • i agree big time!

  • Steve Morse was doin some killer playing right there!

  • steve morse is awesome! 5* for him!

  • Every time I hear Lukather I'm always awestruck. His tone is just amazing. It's not because of his amp or his guitar, it's because of him. There's something about how he plays, it just sounds magical.

  • yeah I thought Lukathers tone was really great!! I was a little dissapointed with Morse considering he is such a phenomenal player. I guess thats improv though. Magic of the moment.

  • not tryin to compare them to anyone else... what a great cover... thats all that needs to be said

  • Actually one of the best cover versions ever heard. 5/5!!

  • How wonderful...

Love the Steve Morse Solo...just unbelieveble beautiful...

    Great Luke's interpretation!

  • NICE GUITAR PLAYING AND SINGING

  • incredible videos, very very thanks

  • the two masters of guitar!! awesome!

  • ian smells! yeah this is a rare chance to see two of the worlds best guitarists, I bet it was amazing to be there :-O

  • great session!

  • They are great together!!!! I really like Morse's solos. This is awesome as well!!!!!!!

  • Aaaah!

To f**kin' brilliant players right there!!!

    What a treat!

  • Luke plays on Marshall that's why his sound's not the same

    He plays on Rivera usually

  • What was Luke thinking with that distortion? Sounded awful on this.

  • i got to play on that bass :)

  • Steve Morse is amazing!

I saw him with Deep Purple a few years ago here in Norway :)

The solo he played here was awesome.

  • towering ability, fantastic!

  • finally someone doesn't cover the SRV version. It's great and all, but imo Jimi's is just much better

  • awesome vids!!! Steve morse is one of my favs...thanks for these:D

  • im all for a company like ernie ball but i just dont like the look of their guitars

  • i just noticed that lukather has four pickups on his guitar. he has two bridge pups. a humbucker and a single coil, which brings me to my question. why? why not just use the toggle switch and split the humbucker to a single? unless maybe the humbucker is active. just curious.

  • Its actually morse that has the 4 pickups. Altough i cant remember why he uses the 2 singles for there is a vid floting around on youtube that he does go into it. And why he dropped the slanted single from his new model

  • rofl wow i said lukather.. my fault, morse.

thanks ill try and find it!

  • He uses the single closest to the bridge used to get clean sound out of.

  • I love how steve puts so much feeling into his solo
