  • I was able to ace both college algebra and college calculus at my highly ranked undergraduate institution. I am now in my third year of law school, and planning to take the GMAT for an MBA. Unfortunately, I have totally forgotten how to divide decimals (thanks to the overuse of my calculator and the complete absence of math in law school). I'm glad to be able to find such well-done videos to help refresh my memory. Your explanations are clear, and easy to follow. Thanks!

  • thanks heaps!

  • Hey patrickJMT. I just wanted to thank u for ur videos. I've been struggling with division for a few years now but I finally understand it. Anyways thanks a lot bro. & never mind timebreaker123. U just taught me in 10 minutes what I couldn't learn in school. lol

  • very helpful thank you

  • wow great way to explain it, i've never seen it done that way, good job on the vids and keep them up i will watch them all!

  • Thanks man! Studying for placement tests, been out of school for way too long. Extremely simple, awesome explanation. THANK YOU PATRICK!

  • Haha, I'm also reviewing this for the GRE. Great video, very clear!

  • I wish my teacher taught me like this in 3rd grade! You have a way of making things clear and simple. Anyway, just lurking around and watching your stuff. Keep up the great work! Have a lovely day(:-

  • Thanks for the easy fundamental lesson. I am Homeschooling my Kids in Math and it was a great refresher

  • i been just studying book after book for months and it was just not clicking you explain it so well i guess im a eyes on girl huh

  • what a complicated way of doing it, the simplest thing is just 2/0.25= 2/ (1/4)= 2*4/1=8

  • @timebreaker123 you should make some videos and save the world from my crappy explanations. what a great service it would be to hear your profound utterances

  • @timebreaker123

He basically did mention a quarter at 3:44

Anyway Patrick thanks for this :) Extremely helpful!

It's thorough and easy to follow, ever since I discovered your channel, unit circle and decimal changed from being my enemies to my friends !!

  • WOW, i truly suck @ math and have had 100's of people teach me since i was a kid, and i have never seen someone explain it so smoothly and simple as you Mr. PatrickJMT, im practicing "Arithmetic reasoning" for my ASVAB test next month, im defenitily gonna continue watching your videos!! Thanks a million!!

  • @alan888 glad the vid helped!

  • gooo thanks! u saved me because i didint know a thing

  • Thank you so much sir, this really helped for my AP Chemistry Exam! It's amazing how easily you can forget the basics!

  • hey man thanks so much! i have a test on multiplying and dividing decimals tomorrow, and i understand multiplying them, but the division was so hard to me and i was confused. now i know a really effective way to divide decimals, and i now think i will do good on this test 2morrow. thanks so much 4 your help!

  • 1) you r soooooo clear and understanding

    2) in your first explanation, for example, would you have to times the 8 by 100 or is 8 correct? please answer!

  • Is it bad that I'm reviewing this for the GRE? Anyhow, good lesson.

  • @cowninja no, i would say it is normal for many people

  • @cowninja thats what i'm doing

  • I'm confused man, if 4 doesn't go into 2 any times, why don't you see if 4 goes into 28 any times? Why just automatically make it a zero?

  • very helpful. thanks so much

  • Maaaaaate - If only all primary school teachers were as clear to understand as you! I'm a father of two girls 10 & 7 and they both were able to absorb more of this than their class room teacher could teach them in a whole day. Thank you from Australia.

  • sweet, thanks for the kind words.

i have never really taught 'the basics' so i am not sure if my explanations still work, but people seem to like it for the most part, so that is good!

good luck to your little girls

  • Thanks so much, my mom finally loves me!=)

  • Thanks so much!

  • thank u my friend. u saved my midterm exam grade!

  • thanks! (:

  • Dude i'm doing what he's doing and im getting the wrong answer's >:(

  • OMG your the $H!T Thank you

  • For some reason I can do polynomial long division, but not calculate simple constants like 1/16. Probably because I spent all those years in school tapping away at a calculator.

Thanks for this video. I am your latest subscriber now.

  • dude iwant to suscribe to you 8 billion times you give aperfect score in my test tnx alot

  • Can you do the proof by vectors. Thanks.

  • patrick = the boss of youtube

  • Excellent, your videos are the best refresher I've seen. Thanks!

  • Now I can get an A+ on my homework

  • i am doin math HW right now and it is still Christmas break and i decided to do my HW on the last week so i forgot how to do this but now thanks to your vid i now know how to divide decimals so anyways thanks a lot

  • thanks

  • Thanks Patrick because of you I got an A+ in my test you are a life saver 5 stars

  • THanks a bunch Patrick! :)

  • Thank you for posting this video! I never really understood this and I'm in Algebra so I figured that I better figure this out soon! Thank you so much; it really helped. :)

  • thank you, for so many years I just didn't get it, but now it's like duh it's so easy. I guess it depends on how a teacher explains. You are awsome.

    ~Thank you~

p.s:Make more vids about math ur understandable atleast xD thanks again good luck :\

  • Makes perfect sense, Thank You !

  • Nice! It's good to have review once in a while... Keep it up! And really, not all of us do remember this stuff.. so thanks for reminding us all on how to divide decimals :) It might come handy sometimes :) For instance, you forgot to bring you calculator haha, imo calculators are the culprit on why people, like me, don't remember how to do this kind of stuffs.. calculator makes everything easier..

  • Awesome grade school refresher. Thanks!

  • not sure why people are freaking out over this video... i have had a few emails recently asking me to do one, so i did.

just chill out everyone... they are just free math videos, on the internet... that no one is forcing you to watch

  • Jeez..

could you do one on addition?

and then one on Laplace's equation

I have trouble with those two.

    : /

  • @rminb010204 u think Laplace's equation iz hard u stupid

    haahahaha stupid

as for you patrick, thanks for covering all ranges of math. something for everyone.

  • @floppyorange Your comment shows your total and complete ignorance. By the way, you're fantastic with your mastery of the English language, moron.

  • @rminb010204 i am a realy good writter i am not a moron my iq is almost 200 or soumthing like that

smarter than you fo shizzle, fool!!!!!!!!

  • Patrick wats up with this basic level shit man. I thought you only did difficult stuff. I knew this from like grade 3

  • i have yet to make videos about anything difficult, so i am not sure what you refer to

  • I'm sory i forgot how "easy" trig and calculus was.

Awesome video though your the best

  • Hello Mr. patrickJMT, might I suggest some video ideas? Maybe a video on Fundamental Lemma, some of Ramanujan's work, Newton's method, Shell/Disk/Washer method, or Centroids, just suggestions :) I really enjoy all of your videos, you explain things very clearly, very well/in depth, and you have a very diverse selection of videos :)

  • well, i already have newtons method, centroids and the shell/disk/washer method covered in some videos

  • Oh sorry, that was my error :) Great videos man :)

  • i did not know if anyone would be interested in this... but i am glad i posted it now : )

    i will make quite a few more soon i think : )

  • Man, the fact that we have teenagers who can't do this basic maths shows us just how incredibly ignorant our society is.

The emerging economies are doing this in primary schools.....and they as soon as they get the infrastructure they are going to stuff us.

  • O_O

  • nice mahn... like da way u explain dawg... its truely impressive..

  • lol im 19 and dont know how to do this!

  • O_O

  • Hmmm. Ring in ring finger. First time I saw it.

  • nice pat!

  • nothing gets the heart racing like some good ole division!

  • I couldn't agree with you more, I am personal tutor myself and it is the most common subject matter that gets young kids confuse..long division and division that involves decimal. Sometimes I turn the decimal into a fraction or show them the easier way in which you are doing it. Love your videos on various math topic. Peace
