wow now we stand up and were not broke no more yay.... not, its going to take more than standing up people lol its called wake up... people that are rich came up with this bs slogan so you think your doing something, to tell the truth i do more for a cup of water i stand up and walk. their slogan should say fight we do it anyway.....
5 people from my year 10 get to go to the city in Sydney and stand still in a pose for 3 mins... there were 8 that volunteered so i hope he chooses me to go with my friend :)
This rally is a stupid idea. It's like saying that if enough people get together and declare poverty illegal it will simply go away. Unfortunately, people are their own worst enemies, and if you distributed all the wealth in the world evenly, most people would quickly fall behind again. It's just how the world is built: few hard workers, lots of complainers, few sharks, lots of fish, etc. Killing the sharks would kill civilization. Anyone can grow food, but only leaders can build empires.
Unfortunately another BIG problem is OVER population, where only fittest rule. Families should have MAX 2 kids, gradually the number of people within 800 year period should go back to a sustainable approx half a billion in this planet Earth. For now, any campaigns are good intentioned but non productive. We ALL need to take conscience. We ALL have to sacrifice our own personal so called "freedom" and stop the stupidity proclaimed by most religions with their insane "go forth and multiply".
Standing up against the symptoms of poverty is easy but never will be effective to get at root causes. The guy below who says that poverty will never be eradicated is not correct if he is saying that there is no way to do it. We may never do it but it is possible and not difficult to understand. The first place to look is at the folks who "own" the earth and claim to have the right to charge the rest of us for access to our own planet. The planet and the money they collect is ours.
there's no way to eliminate poverty, no matter what somebody has to be poor just like no matter what there's gunna be someone whose rich, the only way to eliminate poverty is communism across the globe but thank God that's not gunna happen
Read up Grizz. You are wrong. I recommend The End of Poverty by Jeffery Sachs. Poverty is being eliminated as we speak, and has been eliminated in countries during our time!
alright, well while we are eliminating it in certain places it will grow in others, there is no way to completely eliminate anything in the world, as long as there are rich people there will be poor
Look at what communism did to Russia's economy! Talk about failure. Our economic growth has helped other countries grow. China's success doesn't mean somewhere on the globe people are eating less. China had 67% extreme poor in 1981, shortly after they opened their markets (1978). By 2001, the number of extreme poor was down to 17%. Our economy grew in great strides during this period.
We have seen places like India & Bangladesh make huge strides in eliminating extreme poverty.READ UP!
Okay you say that communism in Russia failed but in China is doing the exact opposite but they are communist too, plus since China opened up their market in 1978 the people in the middle east have been becoming poor from the leaders put into power there, everything where there is a fight against something they will only give you the good info not the negative so its not so hard to believe that you would come out with a bunch of facts on how its working when its not just like the war on drugs
Yessss! Stand Up is every morning and must be an everyday thinking about for we to act properly and each day more stronger searching with solutions and requests about this so deep problem. Great!
MANILA, Philippines - About 1 billion people are absolutely poor, living on less than US$1 a day, said International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) - including 11 million Filipinos (13.5% of the country's population) live on less than $1 a day; 9.1 percent or 7.4 million are subjacent poor (living on 75c to 1$) and 4.4% or 3.6 million are medial poor (living on 50 - 75c). There is no figure for the ultra poor (living on less than 50 cents).
This the only war the world should be fighting. My life mission is a humanitarian one. Our children r our future & have to live with the decisions made for them today, which will affect their tomorrow. We should leave them a legacy to be proud of. If feeding, housing and educating is not a global priority, they have no chance.
I consider it a political and social crime that a poor or middle class family be prohibited by the POLITICIANS from getting decent modern housing by negating property ownership through politicaly engineered hyper-inflation and taxation.

Standing up against corruption is more meaningful actually compared to poverty, though both causes are equally humorous from the start to the finish.

Okay, let me stand up (next to my monitor as I type this) and post a shoutout:
"I WANT TO BE RICH!!"
"I DON'T WANT TO BE POOR!!!"
"POVERTY SUCKS!!!"
"BEING POOR AIN'T COOL!!!!!"
"I WANT TO BE A RICH MAN'S SON FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!!!"
There, I, your God, has spoken.

The U.N. doesn't give a sh*t about starvation, their goal is a one world government. Do yourself a favor: do your research, stop following blindly.

I completely agree with you that there is no way that you can elinimate poverty from this world but you have to undersatnd what Jeff Sachs is saying.
We are not trying to eliminate poverty from this world but WE ARE DETERMINED TO ELIMINATE EXTREME POVERTY BY 2025
