dj I have A problem with tt record and i need your help: when I start playg and i try to make some scratch, its look very slow, I mean when y play a music and y turn the vinil beckward scratching end y take y hand of its goes forward very slow, what can i do,i Just calibrate and still the same, what is the solution.
Good video. I had 1200s for years and soold them. I miss them terribly BUT I can't really afford dishing out $800 bucks for new ones so I got two numark beltdrives so I can atleast still play my vinyl. I don't really scratch so for just mixing they are fine. And as you said if you can master beltdrives you have learned to mix. I was already a great mixer so they work just fine. I wouldn't want to use them in a club setting but combined with my dual CD player I can still mix it up.
@MrBicycle15 no, belt drive turntables are shit for scratching, and the belt drive motor matters more to scratch djs than to any other kind, do yourself a favour, get some technics :)
@DjbaconbitzZz their certainly cheaper but harder to mix on because the platter takes ages to speed up to full speed, try and get some second hand direct drives ? the difference is alot bigger than one would think
belt will not hold up in a club so u are way better off wit vynal i myself hav the kam ddx5000 and it has da highest torque on any deck including ANY TECKNICS DEX
@Inkv7 download onto a record? nah man, records have to be cut using a specialised machine, the majority of people dont personally have the facilities to cut their own vinyl. this turntable is for saving your records onto a flash drive, not the other way around
What if you want to scratch dj. I want to get a certain turntable that comes in belt drive for a cheaper price. Could i still scratch on a belt drive?
a little trick that works is if you put smaller elastic bands on a belt driven turntable it gets more powerful like the a direct i know it sounds daft but it does work.
Im still not sure, Im getting a BIG deal for 2 vinyls belt drive and a mixer, should I go ahead and buy some brand new direct drives or go ahead with some 2nd hand belt drive?? Its really for radio and mess around use. I need to know for Friday!! :D
yes, if you got skills and set up the cart properly, belts have more pull compared to cheapy directs (which often stop rotating with the slightest pressure). Obviously there nothing compared to technics or vestax.
what are you talking bout yes you can scratch but dood there is no belt drive that will have more anything then the worst direct driv. you can learn to mix on belt drive thats bout it. i learned on belts that had to be push started I.E start spinning the platter myself. but belt drive blows i was never happier when we got rid of belts.
if it's hard to mix with then it's recorded sound will float about as much, and you will be adjusting the pitch on your CDJ just as much, as on the deck straight to the mixer.
If you are useing this TT to simply transfer your vinyl to flash drive i don't see why you would need to touch the pitch - i think J was reffering to adjusting the pitch when 'in-the-mix....it floats'
He did say it was less resposive to get it into beat (less torq), but he also said it was harder to KEEP in beat. To me it sounded like he got it beat matched and the pitch floated out of beat match = pitch float.
I don't think the pitch will float if not messing about with the pitch control. After all, a lot of audiophile turntables are belt-driven. I could be wrong though.
to sonicboom333, you do need to take more cere when beat matching as the pitch will glide, but it's for recording so best set the pitch to centre and dont touch. j
I have a question and would like some help on it as I really am intersted in getting one of those decks.
QUESTION,in the above vid did you say you had a harder time to keep it beat matched?meaning the pitch floated a bit yes?. Fine it's not for DJING/mixing but for recording your vinyl. BUT!!!! if the pitch floats then the pitch in the recording on the CD is going to float MEANING when you use it in a cdj, it will be a bit like a belt drive CDJ.
to sonicboom333, V good piont!, it will only float when you move it, this is due to the platter trying to catch up with your movements on the pitch. When at the centre position/ no movement/ no gliding/ perfect stability of the speed/bpm. j
my brother started out with very cheap belt-driven TTs, but changed quite quickly to direct drive, because the handling is different and he wanted to be able to properly use direct drive TTs at a gig.
I think with the new "super-oems" the price difference is less important, so if you're sure you'll spend your money well, I would go for direct drive immediately.
This might be dumb, but can you Dj using just one turntable and a mixer? PLEASE RESPOND!!

You can scratch on belt drives but you need an insane amount of light touch to the tables.
If you have baby elephant hands (aka you're pounding on the platter) you're looking at the music starting up very slowly or even breaking the belt.

well wouldnt the slip mat help at all?

Exactly how fast do I have to scratch with a Belt Driven Turntable before the belt breaks? (I'm kind of on a budget so I wanna use Belt drives)
Mun0z387 3 years ago
i don't think scratching is even possible on a belt driven table. They are just not strong enough powerwise for all that wear.
MBnjmn 2 years ago
Haha I guess i have to hold the platter still and then scratch
Mun0z387 2 years ago
never mind. I'll just use slipmats and wax paper to help me :)

Yeah I would be quite sceptical of that, if your thinking of scratching i wouldn't even consider a belt drive.

go try scratching with belt drive, its fucking horrible, it takes forever for the table to start playing the sample again after you pull it back

I ran out of space but basically.

Or am I totally wrong?
