im guessing your department is small. which is why there were so many agencies that responded it's what happens in small citys/towns when an oh shit call goes out over the air all the agencies in the surrounding areas collapse on the scene and work together. alot of those agencies probaly share the same dispatch center so everyone works together

@Chex55755 not necessarily. whichita is a pretty big city. its ususally standard protocol/common courtesy among police agencies to respond when they're in the surrounding area. it puts more officers in the area to look for the suspect. the city goes on full alert. the state troopers are required to respond because they'll be investigating the shooting. sheriffs already patrol the area so they go on full alert. its quite the sight to see.

For your information, I'm in emergency services photography, not someone who just ran out and purchased a scanner. Lots of reason. Mine does more than PD. I get fire, ems, city maintence (for snow routes) and weather. I enjoy listening to mine simply to just keep up on what goes on in my town. I also shoot photography for the local FD and on occasion might pick up some footage like above. Scanning isn't for everyone, but once you really get into it theres some really interesting things to listen to. Air traffic control is one of my favorites

Yea, SO has the nice stuff. WPD doesn't even carry a long rifle or a carbine in their cars. This was one of those times they actually got to run hot. You never see them getting to run hot, city won't allow it for some reason.
