@skaterpunkdan I think it would be a bit more like the pokewalker concept than what you have in mind. Transfer, say... Umbreon from DS to "Portal". Use "Portal" to play as Umbreon for a while in-game. Play for a while, get bored of Umbreon, take "Portal" off, transfer Umbreon back to DS, replace with Gothitelle, hook "Portal" back on, continue playing.

I doubt they'd make you drop over +$5000, for something like this, especially considering there's no sign they'll stop making pokemon games.

@Subarashii1991 When you buy the starter pack you get 3 characters spyro (Magic), Trigger Happy (Tech) and Gill Grunt (Water) and the portal comes with the game. So, Each character can level to 10 and you can buy upgrades for each character i.e. Spyro can upgrade to Shoot 3 fireballs instead of one etc. There are more upgrades this is just an example and then you choose 1 out of 2 paths to either increase spyro's fire damage (becoming a badass dragon) or increace his blitz (Charging abilities).

@Subarashii1991 where his horns grow big and his looks like a raging demon spawning flames behind him as he charges! It's a great game well worth the money to me. It will take you a while to upgrade the 3 characters you have so it's got longevity. i am playing spyro at the moment and he is level 8 think i'm about half way through the game but the gameplay system is fun and works. Also, you only need 8 elemtal types and you get 3 at the start so u don't need all charaters. hope this helps. :)
