  • this film is almost always listed on ebay in dvd form or at amazon. the price reasonable. soon to be three years since you have left us Paddy, so sad......you are missed.

  • My mum doesn't like this film she finds it creepy lol. But I like it not seen it for ages!

  • Is it possible to upload this beautiful film?

  • I saw this movie when i was about 6 yrs old only remember the cat in heaven scene.

  • actually...there is a shot in which you see "Thomasina's" testicles...Thomasina is in fact, male

  • It is not a kind thing to give cats milk.

    Trust me on that.

  • @Yep147 Yeah, but the movie is set in 1912. They didn't know about lactose intolerance yet. :-)

  • That cat looks male to me. You can tell by the shape of the face. Isn't that why they named it Thomasina though, because they didn't know its gender? It's been awhile since I've seen this.

  • @SallieSimpson They named her Thomasina because they had originally called her Thomas...then 'got to know her better'

  • Ayy laddie...

soonds a wee bit retarded if ye ask me

  • oh dear! I saw this movie when I was 6, I hardly remember anything about it... just the cute cats

  • i love this film

  • There was this cat owner featured on "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" who trained her cat to sit at the table and eat its food using untensils. The clip's available on YouTube. Go watch! ; )

  • Actually there is no reason/proof to say that all orange tabbies are males. My neighbors have one and she is most definitely a she since she has had kittens. In fact to be more truthful, according to most veterinarians Tortoise cats are always female, why? because the color combinations only come from the two chromosomes that make a female a female instead of a male :) and orange is usually one of the colors...

  • Aww Ii Loved This Movie

    :D

  • uhh first of all, it's 1964

  • Actually, Orange Tabbies are exclusively male, which means that Thomasina is suffering from some gender identity confusion!

I loved this film as a kid...

  • Not exclusively. They are rare which would explain why a VET would think a cat to be male and his daughter named the cat Thomas. I suppose he got around to making time for his daughter's pet one day and discovered the error, hence the name Thomasina. Very rare for an orange tabby to be female but not as rare as a male calico. Male calicos DO exist but are the rarest of all . I think because they die in childbirth. But don't hold me to that. LOL

  • 80% of orange cats are male, not 100%. One of my cat's kittens many years ago was an orange female tabby. Also, one of my clients cats was an orange tabby girl. On another interesting note, if you have a litter of orange cats of mixed gender, usually, the darker orange cats will be male, the lighter orange female.

  • We accidentally picked up a cat that we were told was a girl. My sister loved this movie and and since the cat was an orange tiger, it was named Thomasina. As it turned out, the she was a he and so he became Thomas.

    Oh, irony...

  • I hope you're not a vetinarian as well......

  • A great family & cat film!!! We just watched our old VHS last night!

Fantastic animator & cartoonist, Ub Iwerks, was responsible for the very cool special effects. His work makes that cat heaven scene a masterpiece!

Sadly, I just discovered that Matthew Garber who plays "Geordie" died in England at age 21 from hepatitis which he contracted in India. He & Karen Dotrice (Mary) also appeared together in Disney's "Mary Poppins" & "The Gnome Mobile."

  • One of the most memorable films from my childhood, and one that reduced my brother and I to tears. Absolutely adorable.

  • This film is the greatest !! i love it !! x

  • I love this movie! Do you think that you could upload the song at the beginning? This is great.

  • One of my favorite movies as a kid. Thanks for posting.

  • Oh! If you have more clips of the movie please post them! I have loved this movie ever since I was a child, my favorite scene was Thomasina entering Kitty Heaven.

  • I have it on VHS but I have no idea how to get it onto here..

One of my favorite movies as a kid.

  • wow I love this movie, it has a lot time ago since I saw it,if you have more videos of it, put them on, please.thanks God bless

  • what's the song that they play at Thomasina's funeral? isn't it like bony banks?

  • @jwrocks Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomon or very close to this in name. If you put in a search it might correct the spelling for you.

  • this movie makes me cry <tear> :)

  • I was obsessed with this story as a kid -- thanks! Ironically, I now have the symbol from "The Prisoner" at the entrance to my cubicle -- the old-fashioned bicycle, with a #6 in the middle!

  • So there's this Scottish vet right? His daughter finds a cat. They call it Tom......then they realise it's not a boy cat at all.....huh?........her dad's a VET right?........Shome Mishtake to make.

Methinks he needs some Hampshire Healing....Bring It On!!

  • I want to see this, just because it has Susan Hampshire in it. Because she's the sigular most cute actress in the history of period drama.

Though, I keep thinking of Patrick McGoohan being in "The Prisoner" so it'll be a little odd watcing him in a Disney film!

  • Whoa, a trip down memory lane. Thanks.
