  • How come this film has been remade? Why didn't they just dub the German original into English? Anyway, if you like this one, check out Mr. Hankes's latest production "Das Weisse Band / The White Ribbon". It's sick as hell also!

  • @nonoo because it was made for the American audience and it wasn't reaching out to them being in German that's why he remade it.

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE!

  • this movie is amazing. the director did amazing, especially if you really know what his intentions with this movie were.

  • They remind me of what me and my brother would be like if we ever started killing people for fun.

  • Lol same, if I didn't already kill my brother first!

  • which makes it more interesting

  • i have not seen the movie and i am angry already! i hate those bastards..

  • Its Grieg's

  • I know he's really into coke too which is cool

    cause he's a hottie..

    -donowho

  • who is?

  • es un asco de pelicula la verdad eso de regresar el video y cambiar las cosas ke asco

me dio esa pelicula pobre escritor es un pendejo

  • If anyone knows where I can find it online please tell me!

  • This reminds me soooo much of A Clockwork Orange. Especially the style of it.

  • Does anyone know the neme of the song that is playing during the commercial? I think it's an opera overture, but I'm not sure.

  • I think it might be Hall of the Mountain King

  • saw it last night, almost word for word remake. the original was better, but the remake did live up to the original pretty well. haneke is a great director. true horror is in plot and characters, not the onscreen violence. great movie(s)!

  • ahhh i cant wait till it comes out!

    woo!

Michael pit is one of my favorite actors

  • Thanks for ruining it.

  • what the f#%k is ur problem? looser.

  • He spoiled it for me..............looser.

  • fuck

  • Haven't seen the original(terrible I know), and the only Haneke film I've seen is Cache, but that was a great film, so high hopes for this one, Haneke can't ruin his own film.

  • In my opinion after I have seen the trailer, It seems the original film is the it the best.

  • Anyone know the name of the classical song that starts playing at around the 1 minute mark? I cant pinpoint it. It is well known piece.

  • Isn't it "In the hall of the mountain king"?

  • Yes - from Grieg's Peer Gynt.

  • Looks just like the original, i mean literally. I dont see the point of this remake at all.

  • I think american productors wanted this remake just to have more familiar actors for american audience.

WTF I totally love the original movie... I can't tolerate this kind of business moves!...

I think I won't go to theatre to watch the remake!

    See you

  • Well it's in English for one.

  • It's purely because the US audience is so prejudiced against watching foreign films (i.e. films with subtitles) as they can't read words and watch the film at the same time so they have to 'Americanise' them.

The original is totally disturbing. I can't see this remake touching it.

  • The remake is shot-for shot. It'll probably touch it just fine.

  • Voretus is right, look into it before u post STUPID comments, the remake is shot for shot...exactly alike, except updated utilities were used

  • It's still been remade because of you thicko yanks who need to be spoon-fed everything in easy-to-digest packages.

At least us Europeans can watch a wealth of 'foreign' films as they were INTENDED to be seen without the need for a unneeded remake.

  • Don't be an elitist prick, not every American hates foreign films, just like I'm sure not every European hates Americans, even though the former is probably more true.

  • I'm not being "a prick" at all. I'm merely paraphrasing from Haneke himself. See Movie Review issue 381 for proof.

  • If you're going to be paraphrasing people, then cite your sources in the first place.

  • Jeez, get over yourself. Are you a US citizen by any chance?

  • Yes I am. But the thing is, you can't go around saying "thicko yanks" thinking that we're all going to understand that you're referencing someone else. You either wanted to be offensive in the first place thus being an elitist prick, or you thought that we all read or watch Movie Review and would get the reference, which clearly I don't and I doubt enough people to get that "reference" do also.

  • Wow repo...U are truly onto prove yourself the biggest prick on the face of earth by posting all your pitiful comments. Anyways its your choice, who am I to discourage. But, I hope U are not a representative of ur people.

  • Hey, thanks, Yankee Doodle!

  • Erm, Haneke directed this too... as in, Michael Haneke, the original writer-director...

  • I'm glad you used the word "frontier" (proper spelling, you're welcome), seeing as our "frontiers" are giant oceans. We do not have trains connecting dozens of small countries, as is the case across Europe. If we Americans are guilty of anything, it's merely a circumstance of geography. Please stop being the cliched, pompous Euro snob. Most Americans are stupid and can't see through your bullshit, but this one can....

  • Obviously, I meant this "Most" that you're talking about. Not the intelligent and cult ones like you. And thanks for the correction.

  • North Americans should learn other languages and let this money invested on remakes for better causes, as creating more schools of foreign languages into the country.

  • Would you change your mind if I told you it was the same director as the original.

  • He can't change the mentality of a whole country, so he makes the necessary to reach that other public that doesn't see further from their fronteers.

  • Every Hollywood producer the world over is laughing at you right now. That said, the original Funny Games is unreal and I doubt the remake will be as acclaimed. Also, the same director is doing the remake, perhaps you should be directing your comments to him and not us North Americans, who only speak English, apparently.

  • It's just a movie. And a good one too!

  • I don't think those villians would be able to come up to the standard of the original Peter and Paul. They were absolutely chilling.

  • the trailer immitates clockwork orange trailer....maybe the characters have ''ALEX'' as a role model....VIOLENCE AND CLASSICAL MUSIC....?

  • i totally thought about the clockwork orange trailer when i saw this too

  • I don't like remakes but Michael Pitt is awesome.

  • This is a english remake of a foreign language film. In my books those remakes are ok as you're remaking them for an english audience.

  • the original :Funny Games: was absolutely perfect. why haneke would even think of lowering his own masterpiece to this state is mind-boggling to me.. Naomi Watts !? i dont think shes up to the challenge.. and also i think tim roth is miscast in this.. JUST WATCH THE ORIGINAL VERSION AND SEE WHAT I MEAN! peace out!

  • I don't understand wky haneke made a remake of is own german movie .. I hope this version of funny games would be as good as the original, at least naomi, tim .. are such a good actors ... anyway I love michael haneke

  • I have hi hopes for this movie. I saw it in German, with nicely translated subtitles. I really hope it doesn't turn crap in english.

  • umm... is this a shot by shot reproduction of the original?!?!? kind of like the psycho remake except its actually the same director...... fuck it michael pitt rocks.

  • the evil guys from the original version were much more convincible

  • Ah man! Why didn't they use Naked City again for the trailer music!?

  • I know, "Bonehead" is my favorite song! Yamataka Eye's screaming lyrics fit perfectly with the carnage onscreen. Oh well, I guess "Hall of the Mountain King" works somewhat, especially if they're going for a tribute to the original Clockwork Orange trailer.

  • this is a shot-by-shot remake of the original Funny Games by Haneke. what a waste of money it looks shit!

  • I agree with you. What Haneke had on his mind? Lack of money?

  • He wanted to bring the film to an American audience. Not as many people are aware of or will seek out a foreign language film from a decade ago. Plus, it's more timely now with films like SAW and HOSTEL running rampant.

  • actually it looks like many Kubrick trailers

  • Like the "A Clockwork Orange" trailer.

  • Yes, exactly. Such a fantastic trailer for another soon to be fantastic film.

  • Dumbass. you obviously know nothing.

  • Dumbass is overloaded !

    But U r to 100% right:

It have nothing to do with CO !

    Greetings !

  • This trailer its A COPY of Clockwork orange trailer....

  • lol !

The Killers wear white, and that is all !

Have NOTHING to do with CO !

    Belive us !

  • He's not saying the movies are similar, he's saying the TRAILERS for each film are similar in style, which they are. Both use the classical music and the words in the same way.

  • exactly not connected to clockwerk orange in any way
