that's the difference between flyers and the penguins. hartnell is a team player. he fights, he agitates, he scores tons of goals (last night being his most recent), and he cares about his teammates. the reason the flyers went to the conference finals last year is because they are a TEAM. the flyers don't have any superstars, they have a bunch of average hardworking hockey players and that's the way it's always been (see stanley cups in '74 and '75) for the penguins, it's all about "superstars".

that's the difference between flyers and the penguins. hartnell is a team player. he fights, he agitates, he scores tons of goals (last night being his most recent), and he cares about his teammates. the reason the flyers went to the conference finals last year is because they are a TEAM. the flyers don't have any superstars, they have a bunch of average hardworking hockey players and that's the way it's always been (see stanley cups in '74 and '75) for the penguins, it's all about "superstars".

No, they have a bunch of goons. And in today's NHL, where you can't get away with half the bullshit your goons try to do, a team full of goons will always lose to a team full of talented players in the playoffs.

i can't hear you from first place. and neither can the "goons" in philly like josh gratton and scott hartnell who are scoring goals while our "true talent" in simon gagne and daniel briere are out with injuries. the flyers are a deeper team than the penguins will ever hope to be and it's really showing this year. the magic in pittsburgh was never meant to last more than one season. you guys can just go back to the nhl's basement and get another high draft pick to avoid relocation.

Dunno, last year the penguins were in this spot before the winter classic, so you cant be judging only half way through the season, and the penguins are more of a team that the flyers will ever be, Playoffs is when it really matters, so stop braging about first place, cause it will come right back at ou when were dancing at the stanly cup parade

playoffs are something the penguins aren't really used to. sure they had their little run last year. but look at the team now. they bank on malkin and crosby to each have 5 point nights while fleury flops around like a fish on land. they were a different team last year. they were a lot better. now they aren't nearly as good. this is what people were calling to happen even before the season started. i'd say the flyers are more of a team. we win games even when our leading scorers don't contribute

are you serious? the pens would always make the playoffs. and there's nothing wrong with having superstars, it's a blessing and it does't make your team any less. the pens play like a team.

and here come the bandwaggon pens fans that don't even know anything about their own team...the penguins have made the playoffs in 2 out of the last 6 seasons. one of those seasons included superstar sidney crosby as the pens finished last in the division.

stop being bitter. look what happened last season when sid and fleury were out with injuries. the pens still dominated. pens and flyers are both good teams and you only diss the pens because they're a rival. stop tryingto find reasons that "make a hockey team more legit." it has nothing to do with superstars.
you can thank sid for saving the NHL though.

okay now that is just absolute bullshit. sidney crosby did not save the nhl. he saved the pittsburgh penguins whose fans couldn't have cared less about them after their awful playoff drought. without him your team would have been shipped off to some sunbelt city to rot with the rest of them.

sidney crosby will never break any of gretzky's records. he might approach mario because of his frequent injuries but he'll never touch gretzky. still, that is no argument that supports your statement that sidney crosby saved hockey. if anything, he alienated millions of loyal hockey fans that miss old time hockey without whining and diving.

hah maybe in his first season, but he's not the first person to cause a stir in the nhl, and it isn't like the nhl needed saving anyway, it was doing just fine. sidney crosby's arrival didn't boost the fan base of nhl hockey.

lol ok so sid coming to pittsburgh didn't bring a surge of hockey fans to the Burgh. i have family in pitt, i would know whether or not he caused a stir.
the fact that people put so much time and energy trying to diss sid really says something. all you have to do is look at his stats. they say a lot. 2nd in points and assists? i don't care whether you love him or hate him, he's a talented player and anyone who says otherwise knows nothing about hockey.

LOL, even as a Flyers' fan, this is funny...I hear that Hartnell is not liked AT ALL in Pittsburgh, which doesn't surprise me.
LugerCreations...I agree, I feel he should have elevated the puck though cause he more than enough time, with Sabourin out of position. Sabourin was lucky that Richards so nonchalant, as you said.
However, I feel Carter could have scored also if he held onto the puck a little longer...he broke the rule that "those who go first, lose"

That was Richard's fault. He should have easily buried that but he assumed he had it and non-nonchalant'ed it only to be made a fool.
This is after he gave the puck away at the end of the third to let the Penguins tie the game.
