It seems the young lady is just being used as a bargaining chip in U.S.-Iranian relations, but she is a human being and a long incarceration could seriously harm her health so NO GAMES should be played at an innocent person's expense. Why am I saying "innocent"? Well, everything points in that direction. Where is the evidence? No defense allowed in a trial. Etc. Etc.. The world needs courageous people like her and she can act as a bridge between the cultures. The fact that she is in trouble now does not in any way mean she would somehow deserve it.
There are spies in this world, but if she was a real spy, it would be a huge PR victory for those who don't want America and Iran to become closer and a real spy would not get away with just 8 years in jail.

Either she is so naive or really stupid. First of all being an american citizen in Iran is reason enough for them to set her up. Another is she is a woman which doesn't give her much rights. Being a foreign journalist makes them suspicious of your intention. Her father should have known better to let his daughter go to Iran and lastly she should have been brief by other journalists what to do just in case she gets in this kind of situation.
