I was in OIF1 with 1AD and ended up staying in Baghdad for 13 months and another 3.5 in Karbala/Najef/Kufa (In all 16, almost 17 months). What's the point? In war things are not in complete control nor is the leadership clairvoyant and the enemy has a say. EXPECT things to change.
My brother was part of the 172 and we were pissed. My brother was already at a bus station getting ready to leave and he had shipped all his stuff back to Alaska. There were already guys that had flown back to Alaska and they told them to get back on the plane! The Bastards that sent my brother back can burn in hell as far as I'm concerned.
Goddamn, I remember 2 days before we were supposed to fly home when my platoon sgt. got us all together and told us that we were getting extended and going to baghdad. it was like winning the lottery then someone telling me that it was a mistake. but when we finally did return home, man, that was fucking awesome! C Co 2-1 INF 2nd platoon. Semper Primus!
No green screen just the best "magic hour" lighting available in -10 weather. I shot it at an intersection of an FTX Trail so it looked like I was on the road but the break in the trees and sundown provided the side lighting.

I was in 1/25 ID at Ft. Lewis and it was the 172nd who came to replace us in Mosul. It looks like the army's moving a lot of units around these days.
