Crabs = the spiders of the ocean floor. Except we eat them. Actually, WHY do we eat them? They're called bottom-feeders for a reason. All the junk that sinks to the bottom of the ocean ( rotting dead sea creatures, whale poop, rotting seaweed, garbage) is cleaned up (that is, eaten) by these things. This would make them more accurately described as 'cockroaches of the sea'. Would you eat a cockroach?

no, the crab doesnt. its a mechanism within the body. im not sure exactly what its called, but its to make sure it doesnt get too big, so that it cannot sustain its own life. imagine if godzilla was real, but was 20 times as big, itd be so big, itd die within a year of starvation.

actually it would be so big it wouldnt be able to live, internal structural pressure becomes too great. there is a reason animals never got bigger then dinosaurs. as things get bigger and heavier materials strenght doesnt scale linearly, at a certain point bone will not be able to support its own weight. only in water and space can things become larger
